It’s not exactly far-fetched when you think about it, but did you know that Kat Von D once tattooed the Mother Monster? Well, now you do – and can watch it! The L.A. Ink finale was last, but far more noteworthy than anything that took place on the show is this footage of Kat Von D and Lady Gaga back in 2008. You know Gaga wasn’t a global superstar just yet because she’s still wearing pants (albeit metallic blue spandex ones) as she converses with the tattoo artiste: Lady Gaga Visits Kat Von D “You’re from New York, right?” Von D asks. “Yeah, I was born and raised in Manhattan, and I just moved out here,” Lady Gaga replies, almost quaintly. “I’m a singer, but I’m also a songwriter for other artists, so I’ve just been workin’ and doing shows.” We’d say it’s worked out fairly well for her since. Apparently Kat, who is responsible for some of the better known celebrity tattoos out there, did some of the roses that adorn Gaga’s body. Fun fact!

Now that would be something. Earlier this week, Regis Philbin announced his last day on Live With Regis and Kelly would be November 18, 2011. His replacement? Still very unclear. Here’s what a source at ABC is saying about it, though: “They would love to be able to tempt Kathie Lee Gifford back. It would be a huge TV event, returning to the show she started with Regis Philbin.” “Plus, at the end of the day, TV is all about ratings and no one that has filled in for Regis has generated anywhere near [the] ratings or buzz.” How’s NBC, her current employer, feeling about that? “The folks at Live! are desperately trying to reach the level of success that the ‘Today’ show has,” a rep said. “Their ratings have not been good.” “Kathie is firmly under contract for NBC.” For how long? They didn’t say. Think Kathie Lee would even consider leaving NBC to take over Regis’ job on Live? If not Kathie Lee, who else?
I don’t have a clue who these Holly Carpenter and Rozanne Purcell chicks are, but they’re sexy, they’re wearing short skirts and high heels, and they’re promoting Irish whiskey. Good enough for me. In light of the sh*tty economy, restaurants may be making some changes to help their income. People are already in an uproar over what people can buy with food stamps, including sodas and candy, as they are seen as nonessential products. Right wingers and people that want to cut food stamps cite this as a reason to take away government assistance. Now that restaurants are contemplating accepting stamps, the anti-food stamp groups have even more to be up in arms about. Some restaurants like Pizza Hut have already been lobbying to be allowed to accept food stamps in order to sell to low-income families. It would also save restaurants money. After all, their place in rock history is more than secure, and, really, at this point, why would they endure another hiatus or departure from the fold? Then again, if you really think that, then perhaps you don’t know the Red Hot Chili Peppers. To them, calling it quits has never been an option , and, recharged by the addition of new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and their brand-new album, they’re raring to go another 28 years. “I feel as excited or more excited about this period — from the writing to the recording to the playing to the anticipation of going on tour — as I’ve ever felt about anything that we’ve done, from the beginning,” RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis told MTV News. “Sitting here, doing these interviews, listening to Josh — I often just go into a daydream of playing these songs live. And it’s the same feeling I got in 1983, when I couldn’t sleep the night before a show, and if I did fall asleep, I’d have a surreal little dream about the show itself, and, you know, I still have that feeling about this record … it’s a good feeling.” And really, that feeling is the key. Because unlike the thousands of bands that have risen, peaked and crumbled during the Peppers’ career, they’ve never faltered, even during their darkest hours (and there have been plenty of those). But ask them to explain their rather remarkable longevity, and they’ll chalk it all up to one basic feeling: love. It’s what’s pushed them to remarkable heights and pulled them back from the brink more times than they’d care to count. And with I’m With You, that love remains stronger than ever. “There’s probably 1 billion keys, but love could be the strongest: love of what we do and each other,” Kiedis explained. “And just being fortunate enough to create a band that survives this long kind of generates its own sustainability.” “And trusting yourself enough to be yourself and to take yourself as far as you can go,” bassist Flea added. “Not ever trying to do any kind of art to fit in to anything else and just being yourself.
