Source: Chris McKay / Getty Fabolous’ Georgetown Performance Was Cancelled Due To His Alleged History Of Domestic Violence According to XXL , Fabolous was supposed to be perform at Georgetown’s “Hoya Madness” event this weekend, but because of domestic abuse allegations , he won’t be hitting the stage. Earlier this week, Georgetown officials released a statement saying that Fab had been disinvited to the event. “After engaging with students, we have cancelled the musical act for 2019 Hoya Madness,” the statement reads in part. “We take domestic violence very seriously and were unaware of the charges against the entertainer when he was booked through a third-party entity. We are committed to enhanced vetting of future performers and doing all that we can to support a safe and respectful community.” Fabolous was scheduled to perform along with Big Tigger, Georgetown University’s cheerleaders and a pep band but the details of his recent indictment for domestic abuse charges last year after being arrested for allegedly attacking the mother of his son, Emily Bustamante, caused students to speak out against the performance. It seems like Fab and Em have put their differences to the side, but it looks like people are still not letting the Brooklyn rapper off the hook that easy.
1 2-year-old activist Amariyanna Copeny —dubbed Little Miss Flint—is furthering her efforts to address the water crisis in her city. According to Atlanta Black Star , Copeny teamed up with a water filtration company to make clean water accessible within her community. This is my water filter. My filter can bring clean safe water to communities dealing with a lead crisis (Like Flint, MI and Newark, NJ). It's powered by @Hydroviv_h2o . Every $1 donated provides the equivalent of 160 bottles of water. https://t.co/3lqcfoqzF0 pic.twitter.com/ialzGgGKXK — Mari Copeny (@LittleMissFlint) September 26, 2019 Copeny spearheaded a fundraising campaign to bring clean and safe water to Flint and other places impacted by contaminated water. The funds will go towards creating a long-term sustainable solution to the water crisis by bringing state-of-the-art water filters to underserved communities. The implementation of the water filters would give individuals the ability to have safe running water within their households instead of spending long periods of time waiting in line to get donated bottles of water. It would also curb plastic waste. Over $130,000 has been raised towards her $150,000 goal. Copeny is partnering with the company Hydroviv which designs and builds custom water filters. “Ever since April 2014 my community has been faced with a lead crisis that we’re still recovering from. My community needed water they could trust and bottled water was the only resource for drinking water that many in my community trusted,” she wrote on her GoFundMe page . “For my new donation campaign, my team has partnered with a socially-responsible water filtration company, which will allow us to maximize the impact of donated funds and eliminate the single-use plastic waste that is associated with bottled water.” Copeny has been dedicated to spreading awareness about the Flint water crisis and evoking change. Through her campaigns, she’s donated over one million bottles of water to families in need. Young activists are stepping up to address Flint’s water crisis. In March, rapper and actor Jaden Smith ’s eco-friendly natural spring water brand JUST Goods Inc. joined forces with Flint’s First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church to implement a system called “The Water Box” which can help reduce lead and other toxic chemicals in contaminated water. F ormer NFL player DeAngelo Williams has turned the pain of losing his mother to breast cancer into something positive. According to Today , the former Pittsburgh Steelers running back has funded mammograms for 500 women over the past five years. DeAngelo Williams sponsors 500 mammograms to honor mom who died of breast cancer https://t.co/REWtWke66Z — TODAY (@TODAYshow) October 9, 2019 For Williams the initiative—which was organized by the DeAngelo Williams Foundation—was personal. The disease is something that has devastatingly impacted his family. His mother Sandra Hill succumbed to her battle with breast cancer 13 years ago and four of his aunts passed away from the disease as well. In honor of his mother—who died when she was 53—he decided to launch a campaign dubbed “53 Strong for Sandra” where he hosted mammogram screening events for 53 women in North Carolina who didn’t have adequate insurance coverage. Since launching the project, his foundation has expanded its reach far beyond North Carolina and has held screening events throughout the country in states including Arkansas, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. The organization also provides funding for treatment for women in need. “This can be life-changing for these women,” Williams told the news outlet. “We are enabling them to get this care that no one should ever be denied or not have access to.” Initiatives like the one created by his foundation are needed. According to research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , Black women die from breast cancer at a higher rate than white women. Medical professionals say that the underrepresentation of Black women in breast cancer research leads to the lack of effective treatment options and socioeconomic factors are tied to the alarming trend. “About 40% of health is driven by social and economic factors,” Dr. Timiya Nolan told Forbes . “We also know that these women face more stress-inducing environments with the experience of racism and discrimination, low healthcare access and/or knowledge of resources, and even challenging encounters with healthcare providers.” October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; an annual observance created to celebrate individuals who have battled the disease and support education and research initiatives. A ccording to a report conducted by Nielsen, Black buying power is estimated to be $1.2 trillion and there are several entrepreneurs on a mission to ensure that those dollars are being circulated within the African American community. Danielle McGee created the website Black Business Boom as an avenue to connect consumers to Black-owned businesses throughout the country, the Chicago Defender reported. Entrepreneur Creates Coupon Program For Black-Owned Businesses to Compete With Groupon https://t.co/XDA1SxwymQ https://t.co/iG7BIKnGbP — Black America Cares (@BlackPeopleCare) October 11, 2019 Similar to the websites Groupon and Living Social, McGee’s platform features coupons for nearly 400 small Black-owned businesses. Both the website and app encompass a wide variety of products and services that span from beauty to auto. The platform also provides users with information about events and promotions from Black-owned businesses and features location-based advertising. Black Business Boom was developed to highlight businesses and build a solid foundation for customer loyalty. “I started Black Business Boom because Black-owned businesses typically have less access to funding, which consequently limits their ability to spend money on marketing,” McGee said in a statement. “Our platform is an affordable way for small business owners to generate revenue while attracting loyal customers.” She also stressed the importance of putting action behind social movements surrounding the support of Black-owned businesses by providing people with the resources needed to take actionable steps towards fulfilling the mission. There have been several digital platforms created to support Black-owned businesses. After truck driver Edward Dillard found it hard to locate African American-owned restaurants during his coast to coast shifts on the road—especially on the outskirts of major cities—he launched the platform Eat Black Owned . The website is a national directory of over 2,000 Black-owned eateries. Users can locate restaurants based on their geographical location. Joe Giudice has left on a jet plane. And, really, truly… he has no idea when he’ll be back again. If ever. As previously reported, the admitted criminal — who pleaded guilty in 2016 to multiple counts of financial fraud and recently completed his stint on prison — has finally been released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody. But only under one condition: That he return to his native country of Italy. As loyal fans of The Real Housewives of New Jersey likely know by now, the veteran reality star was ordered out of the country by a judge in late 2018. Despite moving to the United States when he was a child, Joe never became an American citizen and then he committed a federal crime — so there you go. That’s how the system works; one must then be deported. Joe is waiting for his latest appeal of the ruling to be heard, and there’s still a chance the deportation decree gets overruled. But it’s a small chance — and Joe must reside in Italy while his case makes its way through the system. “He is en route to Italy right now. He spoke to [wife] Teresa and [daughter] Gia from the plane and he is extremely happy to be released, more than words can describe,” Joe’s attorney, James J. Leonard Jr., said in a statement on Friday. Shortly afterward, Teresa published a ridiculous photo on Instagram: Yes, this is a picture of the Statue of Liberty shielding her eyes… presumably because it’s SUCH a grave injustice that a mega-wealthy white person who confessed to breaking the law is being sent back to his first-world home country. Please, someone go break out a bunch of violins. Teresa captioned the picture with a string of the praying hands emoji. “We are still fighting and it is his desire to return home to the United States to be reunited with his family,” Leonard’s statement continued. Joe and Teresa are parents to four daughters (Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10) and it’s absolutely terrible that they won’t have their dad around for the foreseeable future. But he still sucks as a human being. Gia, meanwhile, shared a photo of herself FaceTiming with her father after his release on Friday, October 11. “One of the happiest moments of my life!” she captioned the Snapchat post on Saturday, October 12. “Love you so much daddy, so happy your [sic] free! See you so soon.” It’s pretty evident by this image that Joe has lost a lot of weight, which is not stunning for someone who spent several months behind bars. Take a look at the photo in question here: As for his future with Teresa? It’s a bleak one. By all accounts, Teresa will be ending her marriage regardless of what happens with Joe going forward. “I’m not doing a long distance relationship. I’m not doing it,” Teresa told Andy Cohen in March . “I want somebody with me every day.” “I know exactly what happens — I’m sure he’ll be with other women. It happens,” Teresa added at the time, looking ahead to a future of her in America and Joe abroad and concluding: “You do the long-distance thing, it’s not going to work. I’d be like, ‘Bye bye.’”

New details have emerged in regard to the recent arrest of Ronnie Ortiz-Magro . And they paint an even darker picture of the Jersey Shore star than before. Why does Jen Harley have a restraining order against her baby daddy? Why can Ronnie not go anywhere near his 18-month old daughter, Ariana? What are the details behind this disturbing incident? Scroll down for the latest… 1. Things Look Very Bad for Ronnie The veteran reality star was arrested for assault early on the morning of October 4 after an argument between him and Harley turned physical. 2. That’s Awful. What Happened? At one point, Harley allegedly made a run for it, escaping the Los Angeles home she and Ronnie were renting… with toddler daughter Ariana in her arms. 3. What Was She Trying to Do? There’s surveillance footage of Harley seemingly trying to hide Ariana in a car trunk… or maybe leave her with a neighbor. Anything to get her away from Ronnie. 4. YIKES! We know, right? According to the police report (i.e. from Harley), Ronnie ran after her and took Ariana out of Jen’s arms. He then went back inside the home and locked the door. 5. This is When the Police Were Called Upon their arrival, however, Ronnie refused to let the cops in, forcing them to break down the front door. 6. YIKES, Take Two That wasn’t even the end of it.
