Source: Consolidated News Pictures / Getty Rumors have been circulating that MAGA Ye wanted to open his own church , but according to reports Kanye West wants to take his Sunday Service sessions across the country. Yeezy and his traveling choir could be coming to a church or whatever venue he chooses to put religious spins on your favorite classics soon. According to Page Six , the “born again” rapper wants to take his newfound love for remixing secular songs with gospel music across the nation. Per Page Six : Kanye’s had three prayer-type sessions in three weeks. He calls them his Sunday Service. First at his California home. Just family and friends. Then Chicago where he was raised. Then Atlanta, where he was born. He plans to continue this mission across the country. The man travels with a gospel chorus. They sing at the services. He just preached in front of 1,000 congregants and told how “reconnecting with my faith has helped me be a better husband and father.” He performed with a gospel choir and sang one of his own songs. After the service, Kanye greeted comedian Chris Tucker, Jermaine Dupri, and Nelly. No pew was reserved for Taylor Swift . This seems totally on par with West holding a service at Monster Lake Ranch in Cody. Wyoming , recently. There he covered Nirvana classics much to the delight of those who attended. I’m so sad I’m not there!!! https://t.co/f4gMlpaLSO — Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) September 22, 2019 There are still many on the fence with Ye’s foray into religion with many questioning if this is just a money grab or him genuinely wanting to spread the word. We are down with anything that helps him get his mind right, BUT we still waiting on him to denounce wearing the red hat and canoodling with the racist-in-chief, Donald Trump. This also follows the news that his rumored “gospel album” Jesus Is King is on the way. — Photo: Consolidated News Pictures / Getty
Source: VALERIE MACON / Getty W e already got a film revolving around Frank Lucas portrayed by Denzel Washington in American Gangster , now its Nicky Barnes turn. Collider is reporting that Will Smith will take on the role of the Harlem crime boss in the Netflix film The Council . Two-time Oscar nominee @WillSmith finds his 'American Gangster,' as he's set to play notorious NYC crime boss Nicky Barnes in the Netflix movie 'The Council.' https://t.co/hYySb58gqk — Collider (@Collider) September 24, 2019 The Council will see the actor teaming up with Peter Landesman again who also wrote Concussion which Smith also starred in. Per Collider: Concussion filmmaker Peter Landesman wrote the script, which delves into the never-before-told story of a crime syndicate consisting of seven African-American men who ruled Harlem in the 1970s and early ’80s. This was no ordinary crime syndicate, as the men dreamed of a self-sufficient and self-policing African American city-state, funded by revolutionizing the drug game. The movie centers on the Shakespearean court intrigue between The Council’s king, Nicky Barnes, dubbed “Mr. Untouchable” by the New York Times, and all the different members — as one unlikely rising protégé emerges. The Council won’t be Barnes first time on the big screen. In 2007’s American Gangster he was portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. and wasn’t too pleased that story revolved around Lucas. Barnes was arrested and sentenced to life in prison without parole. He eventually became a federal informant after he became upset with how his criminal empire was being run while he was behind bars. Barnes was released in 1998 and placed in witness protection. He passed away in 2012, information about his death wasn’t released until this year. Source: Photo: WENN.com Dame Dash is pleading with the legal system to give him a break. The cake-a-holic is citing that he has fulfilled his parental obligations to his ex-wife. TMZ is reporting that the Harlem native is requesting the courts take him off a child support agreement that he has been legally bounded too since filing for divorce in 2009. His most recent filing claims he should no longer have to pay $6,000 a month for both of his daughters with fashion designer Rachel Roy . His oldest daughter Ava is now 19 and California law stipulates that the court order shall last until the child is 18 barring they are no longer a high school student. In additional Dash claims he isn’t balling out like he used to. According to the paperwork he only made a little bit over $58,000 in 2018 and that Roy should be funding the kids’ day to day activities as she reportedly makes $500,000 a year and lives a very cozy life with regular trips to Europe. He is also asking the judge that he be refunded the payments made after Ava turned 19. The ex couple have had a very turbulent relationship since divorcing. In 2015 Rachel accused him of domestic assault. He would later claim that she mismanaged the Rachel Roy Clothing brand via a $2.5 million lawsuit. Photo: Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images for WE TV

So of course, word is the beloved movie about Harlem drug kingpin Nino Brown, portrayed by Wesley Snipes, is getting a reboot. This Is Us just did it again. We guess we shouldn’t be surprised at this point. And yet: That’s sort of the whole point, isn’t it? On This Is Us Season 4 Episode 1 , which aired Tuesday evening on NBC, the beloved drama shifted our focus from its core characters to a bunch fo newbies… prior to wrapping up the premiere with yet another twist that brought everything together. Appropriately titled “Strangers,” the episode introduced fans to: Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison), an intense military officer whose wartime stint in Afghanistan left her detached, drinking and not very close to her husband, Ryan (Nick Wechsler), and their young son. After losing some control, along with her loved ones, Cassidy sought assistance from a veteran’s support group. From there, we saw her first meeting was interrupted by… Griffin Dunne’s Nicky , who hurled a chair through the window in a fit of drunken anger. Then there was Malik (Asante Blackk), a teenager who’s attempting to provide for a young daughter — at any cost. This new character’s parents are Darnell (Omar Epps) and Kelly (Marsha Stephanie Blake), who shower him with affection and also plenty of babysitting. Darnell made sure that Malik had a few moments of carefree bliss at a friend’s barbecue, where the latter grew instantly smitten with a new-to-Philly girl whose name is… Deja (Lyric Ross). Following along so far? Because we’re about to change time periods. In a flash-forward, viewers met a bold, quippy, struggling blind musician … who married the waitress at the diner he happened to visit by happenstance … and is now enjoying burgeoning fame, because this guy is… Jack (Blake Stadnik). Yes, present-day premature son of Kate and Toby! Both grandmother and mother had music dreams — and Jack was the one who seemed to turn similar dreams into an actual, successful reality. There’s your major Season 4 premiere twist, folks. Elsewhere, however, this opener was anchored in the past, traveling back to the early 1970s as Jack and Rebecca returned from their amazing road trip and were feeling out the possibilities of this new romance. Jack was invited to meet her parents (the incomporable Elizabeth Perkins and Tim Matheson) at a country club dinner, where our favorite underdog Vietnam veteran managed to impress everyone at the table. Ultimately, however, Rebecca’s father shook his hand … and told Jack that wasn’t good enough for his daughter. That’s a lot to take in overall, of course. Thankfully, showrunner Dan Fogelman spoke to Entertainment Weekly and broke down this shocking This Is Us premiere. Why did he introduce new characters in this fashion? Normally you would meet characters through the eyes of your main characters, which always gives you a little bit of a skewed perspective, because you’re meeting them through our characters. But that’s not how you meet strangers in real life. The first time you meet the person who becomes your husband or wife or your new boss or your business partner, they’ve had a whole life before you and the meeting with them is your first experience of them. So I wanted to give the audience that feeling of getting to know these people before you got to know them in relation to our main characters. What will the relationship between Cassidy and Kevin be like? The relationship is complicated, it’s formative, and it’s a very deep, interesting, bizarre relationship. And whether or not it’s ever romantic is for the series to delve into a little bit later on. But it’s an interesting thing when you look back — she’s going to be somebody who adjusts a part of the course of Kevin’s life. As is the entire first half of the season that he’s embarking on. How far might the show flash forward? Beyond Jack at the concert? I mean, anything’s possible. It’s not in the current plan right now… We do have plans for the future and that which we call “the deeper future” — because we call it the one where Rebecca’s in bed “the deep future” — but I think we would only being going past that linearly. Meaning a continuation of where we’ve been with Jack, but not even jumping further into the 2300s or anything like that. How will Jack’s blindness affect Kate and Toby in the present day going forward? It’s a gigantic story… Raising a child is a complicated process, and raising a blind child comes with extra challenges. Obviously, having a newborn child — with or without sight — is a challenging time for young parents. For any parents. You’re snipping at each other, you’re exhausted. [Now] there’s added stuff. This was not expected. It’s a surprise and that’s a big part of their season this year. View Slideshow: 13 TV Shows Canceled Way Too Soon
Last month, Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel wrapped up their custody war with more or less of a draw. That may change, however, and not just because of Thomas’ guilty plea to assault and battery. Kathryn has new evidence that the court may want to consider, starting with a video of Thomas doing drugs. According to court documents obtained by The Daily Mail , Thomas Ravenel may be in hot water with Charleston family court. In a new video submitted to the court, he appears to be taking hallucinogenic mushrooms at a party. “I’ve never tried this in my life,” Thomas says in the reported video. He takes out a baggie, filled with what are implied to be psychotropic fungi. “Just one,” he then says. “Just one.” “You’re gonna do that right now?” a woman’s incredulous voice can be heard saying. “Thomas, no!” the wise voice admonishes. “No, you’re, like, gonna geek out right now!” If one were to partake in hallucinogens, particularly those they have never taken before, they would want to do so with a sober babysitter to make sure that they do not have a bad reaction. Experimenting with drugs in a crowd can be … dangerous. Even if you don’t have a health crisis, you might strip off your clothes or soil yourself. “I wouldn’t want to do it,” the woman advises him. “I don’t want to hallucinate.” As someone who once had an allergic reaction that plagued him with days of hallucinations, I’d have to agree. Thomas, however, sounded indifferent over the potential use of the alleged substance during the video. “It’s just mushrooms,” he tells the woman dismissively. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Thomas and “magic mushrooms” have come up recently. In an affidavit, Thomas was accused of having advised a friend that said fungus, despite its properties, will not show up in urine tests. Kathryn was clearly concerned that Thomas might find ways to bypass court-ordered urine tests designed to keep Kensie and Saint safe. Kathryn’s affidavit also accused Thomas of having sent her a video in which he calls his child by the wrong name and slurs his words. The implication is that he must have been under the influence, in defiance of court orders. “The time that we had a pool party,” Kathryn recalls of their personal history. “And,” she narrates. “Thomas was so drunk while holding Kensie that he fell into the pool with her as a baby.” Kathryn continues: “and I had to jump in to grab Kensie:” She also cites “the Christmas where Thomas flew into a range [sic] and threw the Christmas tree that I had decorated across the room.” “The time he put my fake fur coat in a tub full of water…” Kathryn recalls. She makes reference to “the time he threw a lamp at me and glass shattered everywhere;” “And,” Kathryn’s written recollection mentions. “The time he threw an astray [sic] in my face.” These are horrifying accusations, and it seems that Kathryn wishes to connect Thomas’ alleged drug use with his abhorrent behavior. There is another disgusting incident mentioned in court documents. “And the time …when he masturbated on my back while I was asleep,” Kathryn writes. She says that he did this “because he was mad at me for rejecting his advances for sex (because I was exhausted and pregnant).” “I also discovered that he had been watching muscleman porn that night,” she concludes. For the record, I don’t know exactly what muscleman porn is even after looking it up (yes, I put that in my search history; I’m so brave). The important part of that accusation is ejaculating upon someone without her consent in order to feel in control and powerful. Kathryn is concerned that Thomas is up to his old tricks and violating the custody terms. Will the court agree? View Slideshow: Kathryn Dennis: I Can PROVE Thomas Ravenel is an Unstable Liar!
Jenna Dewan announced a very exciting piece of news this week: She and boyfriend Steve Kazee are expecting a baby! It’s unexpected, but it’s true! “We are beyond overjoyed and couldn’t be happier to be expanding our family!” the couple told People Magazine on Tuesday morning, keeping the announcement short, yet awfully sweet. The 38-year old former World of Dance host welcomed her first child, Everly, in May 2013 with her estranged husband, Channing Tatum. Those attractive stars stunned the universe about a year and a half ago upon announcing their marriage was over. “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,” Tatum and Dewan said at the time, adding in their joint statement: “We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. “Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. “There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision – just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible” Dewan and Kazee then started dating early in the fall of 2018, but they’ve kept their romance largely under the radar, prompting many to ask the following question about learning the actress is expecting: Who the heck is Steve Kazee?!? For starters, he actually won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for Once . Among other biographical tidbits? Steve Kazee was born and raised in Ashland, Kentucky. He is an alumnus of Fairview High School and Morehead State University. He moved to New York City in 2002 and received his MFA from the Graduate Acting Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He’s also one of the busy, successful, veteran actors whose face you may very well recognize, even if you can’t remember his name. He has enjoyed roles on such programs as Numb3rs… NCIS… CSI: Crime Scene Investigation… Elementary… Drop Dead Diva… and Shameless. “She’s very happy,” a People source says of Dewan in reference to her romance with Kazee and, we presume, her pregnancy. In February, Kazee shared a tribute to her on Valentine’s Day with a photo of Dewan looking at the camera from a bed. This is what he wrote at the time: “Somehow, inexplicably, I’ve been granted the honor to have this be the person that I get to be side by side with throughout this wild journey we call life. “Jenna I don’t know what I did to deserve your love but I will always be so thankful that our lives found their way to each other. Here’s looking at you, kid.” How sweet, right? Sounds like prime father material to us!
T hroughout her entire career actress and producer Issa Rae has utilized her platform and work in the entertainment industry to empower Black women, and now she’s doing the same in the tech space. According to Variety , Rae recently invested in a Black woman-led startup. Issa Rae Acquires Stake in Streamlytics, a Streaming-Media Data Startup https://t.co/8QU69UHKH3 — Variety (@Variety) September 24, 2019 The Los Angeles-based company—dubbed Streamlytics—was founded by entrepreneur Angela Benton . The startup—which was created in 2018—utilizes media consumption data to bring transparency to the content consumed on popular streaming services and gives consumers the ability to own their data. Benton, who founded the first global accelerator for people of color, has been a fierce advocate for diversity and inclusion in tech. She hopes to use Streamlytics as an avenue to generate data that reflects the choices of viewers of color. Through Streamlytics she wants to create a space where minority consumers can not only access their streaming data but can monetize it as well. So far, the company has used data from Netflix and plans on expanding to other platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and social media sites. Benton is grateful to have Rae on board. “Having Issa involved as an owner is beyond exciting,” she said in a statement. “Her pioneering work as both a creator and as a businesswoman creating digital-first content that has transcended the internet-only medium aligns seamlessly with our company’s core values on ownership.” Rae is excited to invest in a company that will change the landscape of streaming data. She says platforms like Streamlytics are “necessary for transparency and consumer ownership.” Companies like the one created by Benton are needed as studies show that African American media usage is higher across different platforms. A tlanta native Chelesa Fearce is living proof that you can rise above your circumstances and overcome the odds. Despite battling homelessness throughout her high school years, she went on to be named valedictorian of her class, graduated from Spelman College and is now a student at Yale University, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Chelesa Fearce was homeless in high school. Now she'll be pursuing a medical degree and PhD at Yale University https://t.co/M0ODG4XT0p #10TV — 10TV.com (@10TV) September 12, 2019 Fearce, 23, is currently pursuing her MD–PhD degree at the Yale School of Medicine; a major step towards her goal of launching a career in psychiatry. Fearce’s journey to the prestigious Ivy League school was no easy feat. While attending Charles R. Drew High School in Riverdale, Georgia she and her family were homeless. She would often go without food and would use the stove lights at motels for her studying sessions. Despite living in those conditions, she earned a 4.5 grade point average and was named valedictorian of her class in 2013. Her academic accomplishments garnered her a full scholarship to Spelman College. After graduating from the historically Black college with a degree in biochemistry, she went on to work for a national health agency and started the next step in her academic journey at Yale last month. Fearce says her experience with homelessness instilled values that she has taken with her throughout every stage of her life. “Homelessness taught me how to work hard, always persevere and never let anything get in my way,” she told the news outlet. “It really helped show my resilience when I applied for college and medical school.” Fearce and her family have been dedicated to paying it forward and helping those in need. There was a scholarship named in her honor for homeless students determined to further their education. Her mother Reenita Shepherd has become the foster parent of four children and is currently serving as a caretaker for a former homeless shelter director.
