Source: Drew Angerer / Getty Teens Wearing “Team Mitch” Shirt Are Photographed Groping And Choking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Cutout Once again, Republican voters are being mad trash and racist and sexist to the left-leaning women in Congress with any balls, also known as The Squad . In a recent instance, a picture surfaced online of a group of White guys wearing shirts for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell ‘s re-election campaign. One of the guys in the photo is groping a cardboard cutout of Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez while another is fake-choking her. The rest of the young men in the photo are posing with a thumbs down beside her. Pictured: seven young white men in “Team Mitch” T-shirts, gathered round a distressed looking cardboard @AOC , groping and kissing her. The caption, “break me off a piece of that.” Future federal judges of America. pic.twitter.com/t877J7Pcye — feminist next door (@emrazz) August 5, 2019 Ocasio-Cortez saw the picture and retweeted it tagging McConnell and witing: “ Hey @senatemajldr – these young men look like they work for you. Just wanted to clarify: are you paying for young men to practice groping & choking members of Congress w/ your payroll, or is this just the standard culture of #TeamMitch ? Thanks.” Hey @senatemajldr – these young men look like they work for you. Just wanted to clarify: are you paying for young men to practice groping & choking members of Congress w/ your payroll, or is this just the standard culture of #TeamMitch ? Thanks. https://t.co/ysRJuwonUx — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) August 6, 2019 McConnell’s campaign manager, Kevin Golden, told The Washington Post that the young guys were not affiliated with them: “These young men are not campaign staff, they’re high schoolers and it’s incredible that the national media has sought to once again paint a target on their backs rather than report real, and significant news in our country.” Golden also said that the campaign “in no way condones” the photo. However, in true political finger-pointing fashion, he still had to redirect blame to Democrats, referring to an instance where former President Barack Obama ‘s speechwriter was caught groping a cutout of Hillary Clinton. “Team Mitch in no way condones any aggressive, suggestive, or demeaning act toward life sized cardboard cut outs of any gender in a manner similar to what we saw from President Obama’s speechwriting staff several years ago,” Golden said. He continued: “We’ve watched for years as the far-left and the media look for every possible way to demonize, stereotype, and publicly castigate every young person who dares to get involved with Republican politics.” An apology and calling out of your constituents would’ve sufficed. But tis politics. It should also be noted that some of the same teens in the picture above were also captured in a pic posted to McConnell’s campaign Instagram. They’re holding up posters of Supreme Cout Justices Neil M. Gorsuch and Bett M. Kavanaugh …the same man accused of sexual assault and misconduct and still got his Supreme Court nomination. Politics as usual.

Read the interview at the link in our bio. A post shared by Cosmopolitan (@cosmopolitan) on Aug 6, 2019 at 5:00am PDT Iggy Azalea Talks Mental Health, Cultural Appropriation For Cosmopolitan Magazine Iggy Azalea is Cosmopolitan ‘s latest cover girl. Inside she opens up about her mental health, becoming an independent artist, and also chimes in on cultural appropriation… because, we so desperately need her thoughts on that, of course. According to Iggy — the same woman who has used the phrase “runaway slave master”and more in her lyrics — cultural appropriation is “subjective.” View this post on Instagram Oh hey, it's our September issue Swipe for a glimpse inside, then text “subscribe” to 77177 to get yours A post shared by Cosmopolitan (@cosmopolitan) on Aug 6, 2019 at 7:51am PDT Here’s the full excerpt written by Jen Ortiz over at Cosmopolitan : Today, it’s a fact that if you say “Iggy Azalea” three times in a mirror, a think piece will appear behind you waxing philosophical on the definition of “cultural appropriation” and authenticity. And not without reason. She is, after all, a white woman profiting off black culture. She raps with a “blaccent,” which, in her case, is an exaggerated Southern drawl that can’t be found in Australia. When asked about the issues surrounding “speaking black” in a 2013 interview with Complex , Iggy responded, “If you’re mad about it and you’re a black person, then start a rap career and give it a go too.” A few months before that, Iggy faced backlash from fans who’d uncovered some old racist tweets she claimed were jokes. And before that , she had to write an apology for using the phrase “runaway slave-master” in a lyric. If you’ve been reading this waiting to get to the part where Iggy apologizes for all the above—sorry, she’s not sorry. (The most sing-along-able lyric off one of her new songs is “I started to say sorry / But fuck that shit,” so yeah.) But listen, she does get it now. Sort of. She thinks cultural appropriation is subjective, even though she knows that sounds like a fucked-up thing to say. “You could ask one person of the same race, ‘Does this affect you?’ and they will say yes,” she explains. “But another person will say no. They could be from the same place, same everything, but have different perspectives about it.” Then again, can you really say sorry and then keep doing the same shit? (Her question.) “I’m still going to make the same type of music and still be ridiculous and larger than life,” she says. “So I can’t be that fucking sorry about it.” The way she sees it, the reason some people hate her is the same reason a lot of other people love her, so what’s she supposed to do? In fact, she describes her fans as “free thinkers.” As she puts it, “They have to be because if you thought what everybody else thought, you probably wouldn’t be a fan of mine.” Iggy used to feel really defensive about this stuff. “I would hit back and say, ‘What about this that I had to go through?’ because I wanted to talk so much about my experiences of things I didn’t have, and I think it felt like I wasn’t acknowledging that there is white privilege and there is institutionalized racism,” she says. “It seemed to a lot of people like I was living in this bubble or unaware of all these things that people have to experience.” The charitable interpretation is that Iggy understands that the criticism stems from America’s relationship with race and that that history is fucked up. And hey, if that’s how you feel or what you believe, she’s not taking away the fact that it’s real for you. The less charitable one is that she doesn’t care. Either way, she’s going to stop rage-tweeting about it. Welp, what more can we really expect?

Jay Smith spent almost all of the month of July behind bars in ICE custody. He would still be there — had his boss not bailed him out in a stunning display of generosity. Now, Jay's ex-wife, Ashley Martson, is weighing in on Jay's arrest. (The arrest happened because he violated the Protection From Abuse order that she took out on him, after all) Ashley reveals that Jay's cheating goes above and beyond what's already public knowledge. She also says that his deportation is pretty much inevitable — and that she doesn't give a flying flip so long as he's out of her life. 1. Ashley is speaking out After Jay was arrested, spent weeks in ICE custody, and then got bailed out by his boss, Ashley is weighing in — and spilling everything she knows about his cheating. There was more of it than fans had realized. 2. She says Jay needed no help getting himself arrested Speaking to In Touch Weekly, Ashley explains: “It said right on the front, like you can’t discuss Ashley or this PFA on social media. And he did.” 3. Yep If you’re not allowed to discuss something, putting it in your Instagram Stories isn’t the best move. 4. But Jay was going to jail regardless “I did know they were coming on,” Ashley reveals. “It was on a Thursday. So they were coming on Monday to detain him because he was there illegally.” 5. Jay only hastened the inevitable “The PFA and the violation just got him arrested basically two days earlier than what he would have been,” Ashley adds. 6. Won’t part of her miss him when he’s gone? “Honestly, I don’t really care if he’s deported,” Ashley admits. It sounds like she’s experienced a lot of personal growth this year. A few months ago, she’d have been torn up at the idea. View Slideshow
