Source: David Livingston / Getty Tonight’s episode of Basketball Wives starts with Tami and her business partner, and shoe designer, Jessica Rich going over prototypes for Tami’s shoe line. And then OG walks in. Tami invited her because she wants to make sure she’s okay after that brunch. That’s the real reason they’re there. Tami said she’s disappointed in how the brunch went. Obviously, OG is happy to have at least one person in her corner. I other news, Jennifer meets up with Kristen to deliver a letter for her to give to Shaunie. We don’t know what’s in the letter, but basically, Jenn says she’s ready to take some accountability for her messed up actions. Now we’re at Byron and CeCe’s engagement party. Everything looks nice. Malaysia and Jackie come through, and CeCe is happy to see them. However, Malaysia is bummed that Kristen and her husband aren’t there because she feels like their feud with CeCe is killing her family. And guess what, OG ends up showing up later. Malaysia decides to take this time, because it’s the most appropriate moment, to confront OG. Basically, Malaysia tells her that Byron said he never told her to tell that secret. In Malaysia’s mind, OG said that Byron told her to tell everyone. In reality, Byron told OG that it’s okay to talk about it because people already know. There is a difference. Malaysia says it’s the same thing. OG says it’s not. They go in circles for a second, but Malaysia surprisingly decides to shut this conversation down so they can talk another time. Now we’re at Shaunie’s house for her son’s 16th birthday party. The house looks kind of like the house from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air , so that’s the party theme. But the meat of this moment is that Kristen pulls Shaunie aside to give her Jenn’s letter. Shaunie decides to read it in front of Evelyn and Jackie. Basically, Jenn wrote some fluff about how it was nice to see her at her other son’s party, but it’s still a non-apology. Despite that, it’s enough for Shaunie to consider inviting Jenn on their upcoming girls trip to San Diego. Evelyn is definitely not feeling that, but we all know Shaunie is going to invite Jenn. Tami finally reveals that she and Reggie are married. She had a cute little party at her house to make the announcement. Everyone seemed happy for her, even Jackie, who was mad at her but also happy at the same time. You know how Jackie does. Let’s fast forward to San Diego. We find the group headed there in two separate cars. Jenn is present with her friend, Dominique, because she needs at least one person on her side. Feby, Shaunie, and Evelyn ride in one car and the rest, minus Tami, are in the other car. When it comes up that Jenn brought Dominique, it turns out that Evelyn and Dominique don’t like each other either (so, Jenn knew what she was doing). Ev’s group arrives first. The second group of women arrives shortly after and Evelyn gets annoyed at the sight of Jenn from jump. They manage to pick rooms without a hitch and tonight’s episode ends on a low-key note, but next week, the turnup cometh. Evelyn and Jenn are going to get into it for the 1,422,343,415,251 time. It even started a viral hashtag called the #faceappchallenge but now people who participated may have voluntarily given their information to Russians. Experts are concerned about the privacy and security of the app and it’s permissions and what it could be collecting from it’s users. Basically if you have the app the Russians who created the app can now have access to your personal information and identity which could pose a problem on many levels. Via NYPost: But be warned: FaceApp, which you grant permission to access your photo gallery, also includes in their Terms and Conditions that they have the right to modify, reproduce and publish any of the images you process through its AI. That means that your face could end up being commercialized — or worse. UK-based Digitas strategist James Whatley said on Twitter, “You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable… royalty-free… license to use, adapt, publish, distribute your user content… in all media formats… when you post or otherwise share.” That means they can also use your real name, your username or “any likeness provided” in any format without notifying, much less paying, you. Source: Al Pereira / Getty We may have found the biggest Tupac fan in the Midwest. And no, it’s not who you think it is. The Associated Press reports that 66-year-old Jerry Foxhoven , formerly Iowa’s Department of Human Services Director, was let go from his job after sending a Tupac-referencing email to all 4,300 of the agency’s employees. Now, other folks had complained about Foxhoven’s Tupac themed emails before and according to company documents, Foxhoven released about 350 pages worth of emails with the words “Tupac” or “2Pac” sent to and from him during his two years at the Department. Want your mind blown? This, is Jerry Foxhoven. He would host “Tupac Fridays” parties in the office, traded lyrics with employees and marked his own 65th birthday with a Shakur-themed party, complete with “Thug Life” decorated on the cookies. All in all, Foxhoven seemed to be inspired by the “So Many Tears” rapper, telling colleagues that he was inspired by lyrics that included: “it’s time for us as a people to start makin’ some changes.” Foxhoven’s final email told his co-workers to celebrate Father’s Day and Tupac’s birthday (June 16th) by listening to tracks like “Changes” and “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” among others. The next day, Iowa governor Kim Reynolds told him to resign. Yeah, all because HE didn’t forget about Pac, even if some employees didn’t care for the slain rapper. But, nobody knows for certain why Foxhoven was let go from his position. And according to Iowa law, state agencies are required to release the “documented reasons and rationale” when employees resign instead of being terminated. “As the governor has said, a lot of factors contributed to the resignation of Jerry Foxhoven and now Gov. Reynolds is looking forward to taking DHS in a new direction,” spokesman Pat Garrett said. It looks like Crystal Methvin’s chickens have come home to roost. (We joke — despite her name, Ms. Methvin has no connection to this story) But police in Tennessee are warning about how the public can prevent hoardes of methed up ‘gators from terrorizing the countryside. Pro-tip: don’t dump your meth down the toilet. The Loretta Police Department in Tennessee “attempting to flush methamphetamine along with several items of paraphernalia.” “When you send something down the sewer pipe,” police remind people. “It ends up in our retention ponds.” This is where it remains “for processing before it is sent down stream.” “Our sewer guys take great pride in releasing water that is cleaner than what is in the creek,” law enforcement affirms. “But,” the Loretta Police Department admits. “They are not really prepared for meth.” Who is ? What has investigators particularly concerned is how far downstream methamphetamines might pollute the water. “it would create meth-gators in Shoal Creek and the Tennessee River down in North Alabama,” police fear. “They’ve had enough methed up animals the past few weeks without our help,” the statement casually laments. “So,” the police joke. “If you need to dispose of your drugs just give us a call.” “And,” the department promises. “We will make sure they are disposed of in the proper way.” First of all, very cute ending your PSA with a reminder that you’re not actually offering someone a solution that won’t involve their arrest. Whoever was trying to dump a bunch of meth was probably just trying to hide it from the police in the first place. But obviously, that wasn’t the eye-catching part of this bonkers story. So casually, the police mention animals strung out on meth causing problems. And then they mention meth-gators. Around 2015, Syfy started producing actual genre content again instead of operating their business model on some wild dare. But we have to guess that someone, somewhere is currently churning out a treatment for “Meth Gators” or something similar. (Personally, I prefer Methigator — a longer word but it reads easily) The idea of hordes of rampaging, meth-fueled gators frenzying through, say, a small town? I’d spend an afternoon daydrinking and watching that. Throw in some other meth-frenzied animals as a bonus and you could have the set up for a whole new franchise. Sharknado who??? On a less entertaining note, this story is a grim reminder of how much humans unwittingly dump into our environment every single day. “Flushable” wipes should never be flushed. The same goes for condoms and hair. Oh, and for meth . Scientists are only just now beginning to understand the role that microplastics are playing in the environment, but it’s nothing good. We all have to live our lives, even if we sometimes cringe at the thought of our carbon footprints. But the least that we can do is not deliberately introduce dangrous chemicals into the water. I don’t actually know what a meth-crazed alligator would be like. It would in part depend upon the dosage and the gator’s size. Alligators naturally have very slow metabolisms. I did come across a case of a massive python that was not only dosed with but addicted to methamphetamines. The drugs in its system, absorbed through its skin, made it more aggressive, confused, and erratic than normal. The python required six weeks of detoxification. So yeah, for the sake of whoever would have to run Gator Rehab, let’s avoid flushing meth.
Shortly after Amber Portwood was arrested for domestic violence this month, our staff members debated a seemingly important question as it related to the Teen Mom OG star: Should she be fired? We asked this same question to our readers as well. You can see those results HERE . Now, however, we’re being forced to confront an actually important question: Should Amber Portwood actually lose custody of her 14-month old son? This topic is pertinent because new details have emerged in regard to Amber’s arrest; namely that she’s accused of wielding a machete while trying to break into her home’s bathroom in order to continue her (alleged) attack against boyfriend Andrew Glennon… … who was holding the couple’s child, James, in his arms at the time. YIKES, right? Glennon feared his life and his toddler’s life were both in danger and he has since filed for full custody of James. So this question isn’t some hypothetical. It’s an issue that will soon be taken up by a judge in court. Before the first custody hearing takes place, however, we’ve posed the above question – Should Amber Portwood Lose Custody of Her 14-month Old Son? – to our writers and reporters and we’ve shared their responses below… View Slideshow: Andrew Glennon: Fighting For Sole Custody of Son Following Amber Portwood Attack! YES by Tyler Johnson Yes, Amber Portwood deserves to lose custody of her child. I’m aware that she’s battled mental illness and many who are close to the troubled Teen Mom OG star swear they’ve witnessed considerable improvement in recent years. But assaulting your significant other with a deadly weapon would be a dealbreaker even if it were the first time that Amber had ever engaged in this sort of behavior. We know it’s not, of course, as Portwood’s violent tendencies have resulted in numerous brushes with the law over the years. It’s always a sad thing when a child is taken away from his mother. However, for the time being, at least, Amber’s mental state has rendered her incapable of providing a safe and stable environment for any child. Hopefully, Andrew Glennon will be reasonable and allow his ex regular visits with her son. But whatever the case, Amber clearly has a long way to go before she’s capable of being a full-time parent again. NO by Free Britney Jenelle Evans has custody of her kids, so how can Amber not? On second thought, that doesn’t make any sense and isn’t a good example at all. Changing my position. Please hold. YES by Free Britney Anytime a person’s partner calls 911 to report a machete-wielding maniac, children probably shouldn’t be exposed to such an environment for the foreseeable future. YES by Simon Delott I know that Amber has people on her side. Some fans think that a child’s place is with their mother, no matter what — and they aren’t kidding about that last part. They may argue that she’ll “learn her lesson,” whatever that means, after this Andrew Glennon incident. My question, though, is this: What lesson could this possibly teach that Amber could not have learned from her previous criminal history, which included actual time served in jail? Amber had her chance to learn. She apparently didn’t glean much from it. Why throw away another chance on her? Especially because this isn’t about whether or not she deserves the happiness of motherhood or whatever. This is about what is best for baby James, who deserves his best shot in life. Someone who allegedly beats and batters their loved one while that loved one is holding a child is not a fit parent — or a good parent. Sometimes, the best way to escape from vicious cycles that get passed down in families is just to escape from toxic members of the family itself. James deserves a real life in a safe and loving environment. That’s what matters. NO by Hilton Hater I base my answer around this literal question: Should Portwood lose custody of James? As in: Should she permanently lose custody of her very young son? This is not some casual topic about which one should speculate or ruminate based on a few celebrity gossip website headlines. This may seem obvious to state, but it’s a really huge deal to take a child away from his or her biological mother. Such a legal decision can only be made under the most dire or extreme circumstances. My colleagues above all argue that allegedly using a giant sword as part of an attack against one’s significant other, with one’s infant kid very much caught up in the middle, would qualify as dire or extreme . But I have two counters here: 1. Portwood has been diagnosed as bipolar. 2. She has no history of violence against her kids. And the Winner is? YES! Click Here To Vote for YES! NO! Click Here To Vote for NO! Following her latest arrest, you tell us: Should Amber Portwood lose custody of her young son? View Poll » Both of these points are relevant when talking about the extreme step of stripping her custody away entirely. Yes, she needs to go to therapy. Yes, she probably needs to go to jail. Yes, she must share custody with Glennon. And, yes, she absolutely needs to be fired from Teen Mom so she no longer faces the pressure of answering to fans or cameramen. I’m by no means advocating to simply shrug off this arrest or the incident that preceded it. I’m simply sharing the compromises available in this situation, the alternative ways in which James can be kept safe… Amber can receive the help she clearly needs… and yet she can do so while remaining an integral part of her son’s life. Because, let’s face it, it’s easy to read a few articles, leap up on to a soapbox and proclaim that Portwood should stay as far away from her kid as possible. But it’s a lot harder to put this opinion into practice — as it should be. There’s a reason why judges are the ones who must make these very difficult decision, not content creators who sit at home all day and think they know best. No offense, fellas. I still love you.
