TMZ reports : A little background … the colorism accusations surfaced during one of the reunion shows. Host Marc Lamont Hill told the cast OG feels like she gets treated differently because she has a darker complexion. Shaunie scoffed at the accusation … saying OG’s aggressive and violent behavior is what pushed the cast away from her. In a clip from next week’s reunion show, obtained by TMZ, Shaunie addresses the accusations head-on, saying she’s sorry OG feels like she’s being mistreated but vehemently denies the colorism claim. Saxe’s extracurricular activities on his never-ending quest to get Ghost earned him a well-deserved suspension from Warner. Keisha got scared out the game by Tommy’s former goons 2-Bit and Spank, so Tommy took her and Cash to the burbs. Despite Ghost and Tommy’s best efforts to show Riq that drug game isn’t for him, Tasha decides the best way to reach him is to make him Ghost 2.0. Dre somehow once again escapes the clutches of death and kills a Power OG, Black Grimace. This week’s episode has all of the Power players making deals and backstabbing each other in the process. Dre Presses Saxe Unsucessfuly, Ghost Won’t Help Him Source: Power / Starz N o one in the history of television has been luckier than Dre. This guy finds himself in the most absurd situations and still manages to find a way out of them. The episode opens up with Dre popping up on a rather dingy looking Saxe who is currently on suspension from his job. Dre wants the ankle monitor. Saxe put on him taken off immediately, and Saxe agrees to do so if he has any information on Ghost or Tommy. Dre is not willing to make any more trades, so Saxe shuts down his very forceful request and keeps it moving. Dre calls Ghost after his unsuccessful encounter with Saxe. James asks him about his whereabouts and why Tommy showed up to the meeting with Jason and not him? Dre reveals that Tommy’s goons scooped him up and that Saxe put an ankle monitor on him. In order not to compromise Jason, he decided not to show up with the monitoring device on him. He suggests that they take out Saxe, but Ghost was like nah. The aspiring businessman tells him to stay away from him as long he is “chipped up,” the deal is off and issues a stern warning to Dre telling him, “I’m not playing with you, boy.” Oh, woe is Dre, what is he to do now? Tate Has A Hot Mic Moment, Ramona Hints At Ghost’s Political Ambitions Source: Power / Starz T ate saw his adventures in the bedroom with Derek’s wife, Cassandra land him in some serious trouble. With help from his fixer Ramona and Ghost, he managed to salvage the situation. But that would turn out to be the least of his problems. Tate has always come dangerously close to trying Jame’s self- restraint, not knowing just how conniving and dastardly the former drug dealer is. Well, he finally learned the hard way in this episode. While prepping for a debate with his opponent Tate, Ramona hints at the idea of James running on his ticket, but Tate quickly shuts that idea down, claiming the white folks upstate wouldn’t care to see two Black men running together. He happens to overhear his white opponent, considering bringing on someone of color to battle the complaints of zero people of color working in Albany. Right on cue, Ghost walks in with Derek much to the dismay of Tate. The councilman wants to know why Derek is there, and Ghost tells him only to help him handle questions about the Queens Child Project. After the bribe, Tate’s mic magically comes on, and the crowd hears him berating Ghost, his opponent, and voters. Ramona and Tate quickly regroup and put their heads together and try to figure out how they are going to fix this mess. They both agree to appease Tate’s constituents; the best idea will be for a photo op with Ghost and recommitment to the local neighborhoods. Ramona sends a text to James telling him to stop by the office immediately, but he is busy handling some Ghost business that we will touch on later. When he finally shows up, it’s apparently too late, and it would appear Tate’s quest for the governorship of NYC is crashing and burning because of his hot mic situation. Riq wastes no time at his new school and quickly learns that he may have a potential “Primera” in one of his teachers. He asks Riq if he is holding and even searches his bookbag for some contraband. Riq decides to do some snooping and utilizes the old credit card trick his former mentor Kanan taught him. While going through the teacher’s desk, he discovers the educator is struggling to pay his bills and plus his family was involved in a vast Ponzi scheme. Riq heads home to tell his mom, aka his new tutor, on the drug game about new revelation, and she is intrigued. Last week, Warner enlisted her to help keep an eye on Saxe, and she delivered giving Warner all the information he needed to suspend Saxe’s annoying ass. Saxe is currently still working on all of the angles he has. The suspended District Attorney even pays a visit to Tamieka, who was fired by Warner earlier in the season. He is seeking advice and help from his former boss. Saxe even stops by Riq’s new school and interrogates the young St.Patrick but gets nothing out of him. He also stopped by Keisha’s new home to try to convince her to flip on Tommy but was very unsuccessful. Now keep all these moves in your mind cause they will come back to haunt him. His final move was to stop at Blanca’s house to present what he has found out while doing his unauthorized investigative work. We learn that Blanca is married… to a woman, much to the delight of Saxe, his love for lesbian couples will be touched on in a few. Blanca really doesn’t care to see Saxe and gives him five minutes to make his case to her as to why she should even entertain him. He reveals that Keisha’s name is on the deed for the house along with Tommy, which makes her either an accomplice at the very least complicit. Blanca reveals the Keisha was a witness in her case to find Raymond Jone’s killer, and she invites Saxe inside to show him something very interesting. Blanca shows the surveillance photo of Riq picking up Kanan’s ashes, adding more intrigue to the growing case against the St.Patricks. Blanca agrees to work with Saxe again cause she wants to see the “bad guys” in jail. As a token of their new partnership, he gives her the serial number for Dre’s tracking device so she can find him. Blanca wastes no time either and immediately locates Dre and questions him. She discovers from Dre that Kanan was DC in the night Ray Ray was killed, debunking Tasha’s alibi that Kanan was at the penthouse that night. Dre also drops the bombshell that he gave Riq the information where he can find Raina’s killer. Of course, this information doesn’t come cheap, Dre wants Blanca to help him get back at Saxe for what he did to his daughter and get the ankle monitor removed. She agrees to both conditions before leaving. Next on Blanca’s list is Keisha. Accompanied by a Child Protection Service’s agent, Blanca pulls over Keisha and Cash after she picked her son up from school. Threatening to throw her son into the system, Keisha is forced into signing a cooperation deal with Blanca to prevent that from happening. With Keisha now flipped, she promises to put her and Cash in witness protection. Blanca then stops by Truth to put some pressure on Ghost but doesn’t really get anything out of him, but he’s a pro and doesn’t buckle under the influence. James does learn some interesting tidbits, which he will speak to Tasha about later. Blanca notices the glass he left on the bar, and she takes it to get it tested and discovers a 50% DNA match linking Riq to Ray Ray’s murder. They throw a plastic bag over his head and are going to let him suffocate until Ghost plucks a hole in the Ziploc bag. She reveals that she is looking into Riq’s alibi and points out she found a blood drop at Ray Ray’s flop that they believe belongs to Riq. After an intense argument, Keisha manages to convince Tommy she only did it because she was scared she would end up dead like Holly. Back at the house, the struggle for gun continues, which ends with Keisha getting shot during the fight. While on the floor, Keisha begs for her life, but Tasha is looking out for herself, Riq, Ghost, and Tommy and shoots Keisha in the head. Tasha grabs the papers Keisha signed and runs out of the house, we are confused as to why she did all of this not wearing any gloves. He breaks down to his estranged wife that Riq went and picked up Kanan’s ashes under the name Eric Stark. He also informs Tasha that Keisha was pressed by the feds, and her talking could possibly lead to Riq being thrown in jail. Tasha, of course, can’t fathom the idea of her boy in prison, hence why it’s absolutely ridiculous she is teaching him how to sell drugs. Since Keisha is scared to talk to him, Ghost tells Tasha that she needs to have a face-to-face conversation with her ex-bestie. Tasha finally arrives at Keisha’s house and catches her while she is frantically packing, preparing to go into witness protection. Keisha tries her best to convince Tasha that she will not snitch and that she only did what she did to protect her son. Plus, Keisha doesn’t want to end up like Holly did. Tasha grabs her car keys and tells her she cannot allow her to leave the house and that they will wait for Tommy to come back. Tasha catches Keisha glancing at her bag where she put the gun Tommy gave her and the two race to grab the weapon. A struggle ensues, and while this is all going on, Tommy and Cash are at the mall ring shopping. Looks like Tommy is dead set on making Keisha his boo forever and has the approval of her son. Back at the house, the struggle for gun continues, which ends with Keisha getting shot during the fight. While on the floor, Keisha begs for her life, but Tasha is looking out for herself, Riq, Ghost, and Tommy and shoots Keisha in the head. Tasha grabs the papers Keisha signed and runs out of the house, we are confused as to why she did all of this not wearing any gloves. Lee Rosbach has spoken out for the first time about every parent’s worst nightmare. The Below Deck star has given an interview in which he discusses the death of his son, Joshua . As reported in July, the ship captain and reality star lost this child to an accidental overdose just a few months ago. And, as you might obviously expect, Rosbach is still dealing with unimaginable pain in regard to the tragedy. “I deal with it every day. I hate going to sleep, and I hate waking up. There’s a hole there that can’t be filled,” the Below Deck star told the New York Post’s Page Six on Saturday, October 12. He continued, holding nothing back: “And the person who said, ‘time heals all wounds,’ is full of it. It doesn’t. The only thing that time may do for you is allow you to learn the skills you need to cope with the situation that you’re dealing with. “As parents, you’re not designed to bury your children.” Joshua battled addiction for over 20 years prior to his passing. He was found dead this summer at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lee, horrifically, was the person who found his son’s body. “I walked in and he was sitting on the sofa with his head in his hands, and I thought he had just passed out. I felt relieved. I thought he was fine,” Lee told the publication , adding: “Then I went over to give him a hug, and he was cold. He’d gone.” Just incomprehensible all around. Despite his son’s aforementioned substance abuse issues, the reality TV personality added that he thought Josh was doing well before his untimely passing. “He had a DUI conviction about 12 or 13 years ago that he finally got off his record. He’d got himself a car. He was working,” said Rosbach. “We thought we might have hit a milestone.” Lee went on to note how he and his family (the captain has four other children) aren’t alone; thousands of people are lost to drug addiction every year. He plans to help fight the opioid epidemic, but is still searching for the right opportunity: “I don’t want to start something, then not be able to finish it,” Rosbach says. Joshua had been off painkillers and heroin for about six months when he died. Medical examiners told the family that Josh had relapsed and bought pills that appeared to be prescription opioids … but were in fact counterfeits, laced with five different substances including cocaine, heroin and the incredibly powerful, lethal drug Fentanyl. “There’s a lot of guilt that comes with something like this. What if I’d gone over to his house sooner? What if I’d done this? What if I’d done that? I should have made his life easier,” Lee said. “So you carry around a tremendous amount of guilt. I n 2014 the senseless murder of Mike Brown shook the nation. It was that tragic incident where many people, including While Black podcast creator Vince , came to the realization that the string of fatal police-related shootings happening throughout the country were far from being isolated situations and the ugly truths about racism in America were being brought to the forefront. While watching news coverage of the unrest that was unraveling in Ferguson following the 18-year-old’s death, alongside some of his white colleagues at work, Vince couldn’t help but notice how disconnected they were. The detachment and disregard left him feeling unsettled, forgotten, and invisible. He couldn’t wrap his mind around the fact that one could be so detached from an incident that impacted the entire country. He also was appalled by what he says were inaccurate narratives surrounding Brown and what took place that were being perpetuated by the media. It was in this moment where he realized he needed to become a voice for his community and utilize his platform to enlighten folks on what it’s like to be Black in America. After years of using his social media platforms as an avenue to inform and ignite crucial conversations about social and political issues as they relate to the Black community, in 2018 Vince decided to launch the podcast While Black . The name stemmed from the James Baldwin quote “To be a Negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all the time.” He also pulled his inspiration from gems dropped by the late rapper Tupac Shakur about racial and economic inequality in America. “I have an obligation to reach across this color isle and begin to inform white America of what it is to be Black in America. My social channels have a diverse audience and I understood the influence of my reach. I turned my social media feed and my platform into a social justice lightning rod,” Vince told NewsOne. Going beyond the mission of giving individuals insight into the complexities of being Black in America, he also wanted to use the platform to close the knowledge and education gaps within the Black community. “I’m trying to create a platform that can use entertainment and fun to educate us on things that we truly need to be educated on. Whether it is correcting misconceptions, whether it is providing awareness, or whether it is providing additional education or inspiration. I find topics where I feel like there could be gaps within the African American community and I try to fill them.” Cognizant of the fact that the Black experience in America isn’t monolithic, Vince and his cohost Art feature a wide spectrum of guests who are experts in different spaces. From rappers to doctors and wealth building to parenting, the podcast covers a large range of topics. Source: While Black Podcast He says some of the most memorable guests that have been featured on the podcast include musician Okorie “OkCello” Johnson and Black activist Kimoni Sadiq . “Every episode will be with someone who has expertise or credibility in a space. Whether you agree with them or not, it’s thought-provoking, based on reality and provides you with something to chew on.” For Vince, While Black is all about educating and empowering the Black community to take control of their narratives. He also hopes that the moves he’s made with the podcast inspires other Black creators to break into the world of podcasting and often uses his platform to highlight other African American podcasters. Representation is needed in the podcast space. Although more Black podcasts are being created, research shows that hosts are predominately white and male. He says increasing the representation of Black podcast listeners and creators starts with “reminding and reassuring individuals that their perspectives add value to conversations.” As far as what’s on the horizon for the podcast, While Black is partnering with Apple which has one of the world’s largest platforms for podcast discovery and listenership. When asked about what he loves about being Black, Vince replied “We are a culture of people who are constantly evolving. We continue to push into areas and things that most of the world would say we have no business doing. R apper and actress Queen Latifah has cemented herself as a legend in the entertainment industry. She has empowered individuals through her lyricism and the roles she brought to life in film and television projects have left many inspired. E. B. Du Bois Medal. The award is bestowed upon influential trailblazers from different industries who have made major contributions towards pushing Black culture forward. “The W. E. B. Du Bois Medal is Harvard’s highest honor in the field of African and African American studies. It is awarded to individuals in the United States and across the globe in recognition of their contributions to African and African American culture and the life of the mind,” read the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research’s website . Other 2019 medal recipients include artist Kerry James Marshall , philanthropist and entrepreneur Robert F. Smith , BET co-founder Sheila C. Johnson , Andrew W. Mellon Foundation president Elizabeth Alexander , Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution Lonnie G. Bunch III and poet Rita Dove . The awarding ceremony will take place on October 22. The group will join a long list of prestigious previous medalists who are the epitome of Black excellence. Amongst those who have received W. E. B. Du Bois Medals are comedian Dave Chappelle , athlete and activist Colin Kaepernick , director Ava DuVernay and poet Maya Angelou . This year is shaping up to be nothing short of epic for Owens. In February she announced that she was creating an affordable housing complex in her hometown in an effort to level the playing field when it comes to housing equity. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has been mired in a mistable relationship for about a year and a half now. Which makes the following update on the Jersey Shore star’s situation all the more ironic: He just took his daughter to The Happiest Place on Earth. A day after an order of protection against the troubled MTV personality was lifted, Ronnie took little Ariana to Disneyland, an insider has confirmed to Us Weekly and other outlets. In fact, the 33-year old himself shared a video to his Instagram Story on yesterday that showed him kissing his 18-month-old child as they goofed around together, poking their tongues out on a ride. You know what they say, right? It’s all fun and games until someone holds a knife to someone’s girlfriend and then gets arrested for kidnapping someone’s daughter . This is what Ronnie stands accused of doing. Early on the morning of October 4, Ronnie got into an altercation with violent girlfriend Jen Harley. According to the official police report, Harley grabbed Ariana and ran out of the home the couple had been renting in Los Angeles. However, Harley alleges, Ronnie chased after her… threatened her with a knife… picked up Ariana and took her back inside the residence. The police were then forced to break down the front door after Ronnie refused to open it — and were then forced to taze the Jersey Shore cast member due to his out of control behavior. YIKES, right? In a statement following the alleged incident, the reality star’s attorney, Scott E. Leemon, said the following: “The reporting of the alleged incident relating to Ronnie Magro yesterday is based upon pure speculation and innuendo. “We are currently conducting our own investigation and will have no further comment until that has been concluded.” Still, authorities granted Harley an order of protection against Ronnie. He wasn’t allowed near Jen or Ariana until a hearing this past Friday, at which time the order expired and was not renewed. For his part, Ronnie claims Jen was the one who was wasted and that he feared she might harm their daughter. He says that he was simply acting like a protective father by stealing Ariana away from her mom on the night in question. Neither Harley nor Magro has directly commented on the confrontation. But both have now been arrested in conjunction with alleged violence against the other, with Jen having dragged Ronnie down the street by her car last summer and then hurled an ashtray at his head this past New Year’s Eve. They seem to bring out the worst in each othere. Incredibly, this most recent incident came just hours after the pair — who have had a very tumultuous relationship since they started dating in 2017 — attended the launch party for his Verge CBD line in West Hollywood. “Honestly, even though everyone thinks we’re toxic, she really does balance me out,” he said at the time… which, again, was hours prior to his arrest. Added Ronnie at this time: “She really does keep me level because with her I have her and the baby, which is a family, which is what I want at the end of the day.” Thankfully, the couple has since broken up.
