Japan’s Slowest Train Offers Best Views

Japan is famous for its high speed bullet trains. However, one of the most spectacular lines in the country has a top speed of only 20 kilometers an hour. It maybe slow compared to the bullet train of Japan, but nothing can match to the railway of the wildness of the Japanese which attracts a million of people every year to come to make this journey. By keeping the train going is a tough job for the maintenance crew who take the customer service seriously. They make sure that the tracks are clear as they wind through steep mountain sides. According to one crew, nothing is mechanized. They do everything by hand and it is physically very demanding. At the start of the summer, the team travels at the line which is originally built to transport materials for the construction of a hydro-electric dam. This is one of the few railways in the world that has to be rebuilt every year. The bridges over the mountain streams are disassembled during the winter to prevent them from being swept away by avalanches. The crews get the tracks under the tunnel where they are being kept during the long freeze. The crew must carefully balance themselves at the torrent to put them back together. One slit could spell disaster. It all has to be finish in time for the railway to reopen on the summer season. Even though the trains are running again the work is not yet done. Every night there is maintenance to keep up with. The crew wanted to make sure the safety of their passengers. The train runs through a gorge in the north of the country where the area is so mountainous and snowy. The service can only run in the summer season. Chelsea Flower Show 2010

The 2010 Chelsea Flower Show is the 88th to be held at the Royal Chelsea Hospital. It takes 15 months to plan each show, with the gardens and displays taking 800 people over three weeks to build. Each year, 157,000 people visit the show. The number has been capped at this level since 1988. Chelsea Flower Show has a total of 600 exhibitors including 15 large show gardens and 21 small gardens which covers 11 acres of showground. For the past 8 years, Chelsea Flower Show has launched 600 new plants. Eden Project created the biggest show garden measuring 600 square meters. 2,000 bottles of champagne and 46,500 glases of Pimms were drunk at the show in 2009. 65,000 cups of tea and 18,000 sandwiches were also observed. In 2009, 98.4 per cent of the materials used at Chelsea were recycled, including glass, paper and plastic. The Great Pavillion houses the show’s indoor floral displays, is 12,000 square metres – the same size as two football pitches. The Late Actress Brittany Murphy’s Husband Simon Monjack Found Dead

According to the media reports, the late Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack, has been found dead at his Hollywood Hills home the couple shared in California. Last night, the LA Fire Department were called to the house, but attempts to resuscitate him failed. He is believed to have suffered a heart attack. Simon Monjack 39-year old, had previously talked of his heart problems, claiming in an interview after his wife’s death, “I suffer from seizures. I had a heart attack coming back from Puerto Rico last year.” His death is being investigated by the Los Angeles police department. German Boy Paid €17,100 Protection Money To School Bullies

A German boy of age 12, from Aalen, a town in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg, allegedly stole money from his parents to pay “protection money” to school bullies who threatened to attack him. According to The Daily Telegraph, the boy handed over €17,100 equivalent to £14,700 after he was told that his older brother would physically assault him if he failed to deliver the cash. It apparently began in March in the town where the boy lives. “Because the older brother is known not to be a softie, the boy was really frightened and always delivered the money,” said a police spokesman. According to German police the bullies acted individually asking for “protection money” or threatening violence if the boy would not pay. The victim’s parents used to keep large amounts of cash around the house and did not notice the money being taken, German authorities have claimed. Police said that only a small amount of the money had been recovered. Most of the cash was reportedly spent on clothes and computer games. The bullies, who are all aged 11 or 12, cannot be prosecuted because they are too young. Simon Monjack Died Shortly After Wife’s Death

American actress and singer Brittany Murphy died at age 32 last December 2009 due to pneumonia, an iron deficiency and multiple drug intoxication but just five months after her husband Simon Monjack, English writer-director-producer, was found dead last Sunday night in their home in Hollywood. Sharon Murphy called 911 when she discovered Monjack around 9:30 being unresponsive. Monjack was then pronounced dead. According to Sgt. Louie Lozano, Monjack died of natural causes. “We concluded there no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved,” said Sgt. Alex Ortiz, another police spokesman. Linda Monjack, mother of Simon, told PEOPLE that her son was “unwell, and the doctors are carrying out tests. On whether he has a heart problem it is not really for me to say, you must ask him, but yes, there have been health problems in the past.
