Only in Hollywood could a movie open with $52 million on Friday — giving it the seventh highest opening day in history — and be viewed as somewhat disappointing. But, too bad Iron Man 2 . With the stakes ratcheted to “record breaking or bust” — thanks to the advanced hype that Iron Man 2 would shatter the $158.4 million opening weekend record of The Dark Knight — all anyone is going to talk about today is that it didn’t break any records. Instead, it’s just your run-of-the-mill mammoth blockbuster and will reap major profits for all involved. So, y’know, there is some good news. The top-five ahead.

Friday Box Office: Man Up

Will Smith has officially signed on to reunite with Tommy Lee Jones and director Barry Sonnenfeld for Men in Black 3, the third installment in the billion-dollar sci-fi comedy-action series about alien-tracking secret agents. And yes, it will be shot in 3-D and will be released on May 25, 2012. Will Smith will resume his role of alien-hunter Agent J while negotiations are going on with Tommy Lee Jones, who played Agent K in the previous Men in Black offerings. Academy Award nominated star Josh Brolin is also in talks to play the younger version of Jones’s character in the film. The film will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald. Steven Spielberg will resume the job of executive producer of the film. Production of the film aims to start off in fall 2010. It has also been confirmed that David Koepp is the new screenwriter joining Etan Cohan and is currently re-writing a new draft of the script. “Sony’s summer of 2012 will get off to a red hot start with an incredible new 3D adventure for the Men in Black. We couldn’t be more excited that the original filmmaking team responsible for the first two worldwide hits is reuniting for this third installment. We love where the story is taking Agents Jay and Kay and know this new chapter will deliver a fresh fun twist for fans of the franchise while also introducing the Men in Black to a whole new generation of moviegoers,” Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing and Distribution Chairman Jeff Blake said in a statement. Both the previous Men in Black films are based on the comic book series by Lowell Cunningham, originally published by Aircel Comics. The first film was released in 1997 and grossed over $587 million worldwide against a $90 million budget. It is currently the 49th highest grossing film of all time. The accuser, who is only 16, allegedly told him she was 19, and was assaulted by her pimp (also arrested). It looks like is a Kendra Wilkinson sex tape out there. It may or may not be one of many, but it will definitely be exploited as fodder on her reality TV show. Jason Pfeiffer , a gay man of intermediate age, said he was dating Michael Jackson up until the singer died. His former boss, Dr. Arnold Klein, backs him up. David Boreanaz admitted cheating on his wife with a woman he says is trying to extort him. This is not Rachel Uchitel , who he also cheated with last year. A cheating scandal involving Barack Obama and Vera Baker was alleged. She denies this and nothing came of it, but after Rielle Hunter, you never know. The alleged Barack Obama mistress … and Michael Jackson manstress . Britney Spears supposedly isn’t allowed to be alone with her kids . Country star Chely Wright announced publicly that she is gay. Lindsay Lohan won’t go to rehab, but may go to jail shortly. Justin Bieber is not smart . His fans may kill Kim Kardashian . Miley Cyrus can’t be tamed – the transformation is complete. Bristol Palin takes care of her kid . Being a parent is real hard! Bret Michaels is feeling better, and grateful for Kristi Gibson . Chely Wright’s coming out as a lesbian surprised many . American Idol bid farewell to Aaron Kelly , leaving just four finalists in the competition. Lady Gaga performed on the show but was pissed by Fox’s editing . Speaking of Gaga: “Telephone” may have been recorded by Britney first; X-tina may be ganking her style (or vice versa); She does not have an amputated leg . Pamela Anderson was voted off Dancing with the Stars . A minor controversy erupted when Elisabeth Hasselbeck suggested Erin Andrews tone it down. Elin Woods was spotted jogging in Sweden without her wedding ring , sparking more divorce rumors. Meanwhile, new reports say Tiger had 121 mistresses . The end is near, if not already here, for Charlie and Brooke. Couple news: Jessica Simpson and Jeremy Renner may be dating; Joanna Krupa is engaged to Romain Zago; Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller are done. Baby news: Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan had a son; Morty Coyle knocked up Jodie Sweetin; Eric Dane’s cute daughter made her debut.
