Filed under: Websites , Food The best meals of ours lives are the ones that we’ve eaten hundreds of times. From holiday celebrations to weeknight dinners, it’s the meals lovingly prepared by our mothers that truly stick with us and mean the most. A few months ago, one of my mother’s close friends told her how her mother, during the final few months of her life, made certain that her children and grandchildren learned how to prepare some of her signature recipes – the same recipes that had become the culinary hallmark of their family celebrations. Sure, the recipes were delicious, but the real gift was how a few simple ingredients would now instantly evoke memories of their mother and grandmother years after she had passed away. Upon hearing her friend’s story, my mother thought “what better way to express the love and appreciation we all have for our mothers than by creating a place where we could share their recipes and the stories that go along with them?” Though her own mother didn’t so much have a recipe box as a reused grocery bag filled with often illegible, often imprecise, often crumbling pieces of paper of unknown origin, My Mom’s Recipe Box seemed like the perfect name. Her contribution, she knew immediately, would be her mother’s stuffed cabbage (which you can see here ). Despite the fact that the first sequel did less worldwide business than the original, Sony is betting that 3D can help revive the Men in Black franchise, setting a May 25, 2012 release date for the third installment. This will be the first film Smith has shot since 2008’s Seven Pounds , so unless he finds a small film to shoot after MiB3 , it’s entirely possible he could be offscreen for four years. NYPD evacuates Times Square for suspicious package. A camera grab from Times Square shows the area around W. 46th Street and Broadway cleared. An abandoned white cooler that made the crowd evacuate on the busy for an hour Friday contained only books and water bottles, police said. The report of a suspicious package – the second of the day in the tourist-heavy neighborhood – came in around 1:15 p.m. at Broadway and W. 46th St., police said. The suspicious package was found on the pedestrian mall outside the Marriott Marquis Hotel, where guests were asked to stay inside. The bomb squad X-rayed the soft-sided cooler and determined that it posed no danger, police said. With tensions still high after last weekend’s failed terror attack, the cooler left beneath a bench drew a rapid response, police said. The package was found near 45th Street and Broadway, New York Police Department officials said. Since the foiled car bomb attack last Saturday in Times Square, the number of “suspicious package” calls to the NYPD has increased. Between Sunday and Wednesday, police have checked out 493 suspicious packages, compared with 381 in the same period last year, according to Wall Street Journal. On May 1 police had found a car bomb in Times Square, that failed to explode, sparking a two-day manhunt that led to the arrest of Pakistani-born US citizen Faisal Shahzad.
