Along with the thick ashes brought by the Iceland’s Volcanic Eruption is also the funeral of Poland’s President Lech Kaczynski. Poland mourned over the their beloved president. The president died together with his wife in a plane crash along with other Polish delegates. The funeral pushed through despite rumors that it may be delayed because some of the world leaders might not be able to attend because flights were cancelled due to the thick ash. Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev managed to make it to Krakow for the funeral despite air traffic restrictions while President Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were forced to cancel plans to attend. The funeral has been led by the president’s twin brother Jaroslaw Kaczynski. His ashen-faced brother was dressed in dressed in a simple black suit and tie, was joined by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, former President Aleksander Kwasniewski and foreign dignitaries. The most recent eruption of Eyjafjallajökull last April 14, 2010 grounded planes all over Northern Europe as the eruption shot ash plumes posing risks to air travel. The eruption caused the longest closure of airspace to civil aviation traffic since the 9/11 attacks in the United States in which the airspace was closed for three days. The ashes significantly reduced visibility over the affected area. Sharp edges on the particles of the ashes could also sandblast windscreens of aircrafts. The ashes may also enter the turbine of jet engine causing engines to stop similar to what happened to British Airways Flight 9 last 1982. The European states issued flight advisories or NOTAM (Notice to All Airmen). The length of suspension of airspaces varied from different locations. As of press time, the longest suspension imposed was that of Paris airports which will last until April 19, 2010 13:00 UTC. The eruption has also caused the funeral of the Polish president and entourage to be postponed to allow dignitaries from other countries to attend the final ceremonies. On her book tour, Kate also opened up about a tragedy – that she and Jon were actually supposed to have septuplets, but the seventh, a girl, did not survive . In her book, Kate writes letters to each of her eight children, and mentions the baby in a letter to Alexis, one of the sextuplets. But she rarely talks about it. “I don’t spend much time grieving or dealing with the fact that there was a seventh baby,” she said. “It makes you wonder, who would this baby have been?” A baby who wishes her mom spent more time at home and less seeking stardom, most likely. Just wait until the whole family moves to Hollywood , too.

Ryan Phillippe hosted Saturday Night Live last night. One of the more random celebrities to take to the stage, the actor hasn’t starred in a hit movie, or proven he’s remotely funny, in years. But he did perfectly fine. Not as humorous as Tinay Fey, not as embarrassing as January Jones. Phillippe may not have stood out, but the evening’s musical guest still has people talking. That’s what Ke$ha does best, right? The eccentric singer, who once called BS on Britney Spears for lip-synching, was definitely singing live during the broadcast. But we’re not sure if that’s a good thing.
