California Federal Court Judge Virginia Phillips ordered the artists to seek private arbitration in the case, which accuses Minaj of sampling Chapman’s copyrighted song “Baby Can I Hold You,” for her song “Sorry,” without permission. Source: Stephane Cardinale – Corbis / Getty Minaj denied Chapman’s infringement claim, saying Chapman did not own the copyright for “Baby Can I Hold You,” and said her use of the song was protected under the “Fair Use” law. The judge gave Chapman and Minaj until the end of this summer to attend private arbitration, in the hopes that an expert mediator could help them resolve it. If they can’t make a deal, then the case will head to trial in February 2020, court papers state.

According to ABC News , the charges against Cardi weren’t made immediately clear and the indictment will not be unsealed until the “Press” rapper is arraigned on Tuesday. She faced misdemeanor charges for her alleged role in the fight where thrown chairs and bottles resulted in two bartenders being injured. Initially, Cardi rejected a plea from the DA’s office in Queens, signaling that additional charges may be levied against her. That’s been very important, as hard as it is,” she said. “Because when you become a parent, you want to put your kids first, and we do, but we do it second to our relationship. Because ultimately, when our relationship is good, the kids are happy and they’re thriving and our family life is good.
