Source: Miami Herald / Getty DJ Khaled has had a career based on positivity and building up other people trying to better their careers. He keeps talking about “they” and those who would hold us back, all in an attempt to boost up those who need it. That has taken him far as others have collaborated with him with no problem. That all came crashing down this weekend when he threw a fit over Tyler The Creator’s album topping his for number one on the Billboard 100. This has confused everyone who thought Khaled would be gracious in his second-place finish. Yet when he released a now-deleted video sending subs at Tyler’s album and then going so far as to sue Billboard over it, he turned into the “they” he has always hated. Now, things have been rectified and his album is actually number one, but that has only made the slander worse. Take a look… Criticizing your fellow artists out of jealousy is never a good look, especially if you live in a glass house. Source: Patrick McMullan / Getty Linda Fairtein Calls Netflix’s ‘When They See Us’ An “Outright Fabrication” The main woman responsible for incarcerating five innocent teens is, of course, still defending her atrocious actions. In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal , former Manhattan District Attorney’s office prosecutor Linda Fairstein slammed When They See Us , the Netflix mini-series based on the Central Park Five case. Fairstein argues that the four-part series omits crucial details, including a “riot” involving more than 30 people that allegedly went down on April 19, 1989 — the same date of the attack on the Central Park jogger Trisha Meili. Fairstein claims that reporters and Ava DuVernay have only focused on the five accused teens and the one victim in the jogger attack, not the riot. Not sh**. The movie is about the CENTRAL PARK FIVE and the JOGGER CASE. Anywaaays, Fairstein went on to say that the movie missed “the larger picture of that terrible night: a riot in the dark that resulted in the apprehension of more than 15 teenagers who set upon multiple victims.” She continued that on that night “eight others were attacked, including two men who were beaten so savagely that they required hospitalization for head injuries.” She then argues that there’s compelling evidence that the Central Park five were involved in the “riot.” Again, what’s that got to do with the jogger case????????? The one in which Matias Reyes was proven to be Meili’s attacker thanks to a confession and DNA evidence. But Fairstein kept on about the OTHER alleged attacks that happened that night: “The other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated. Nothing Mr. Reyes said exonerated these five of those attacks. And there was certainly more than enough evidence to support those convictions of first-degree assault, robbery, riot and other charges,” Fairstein writes. Fairstein also denies the portrayal of the five teens being held without food or deprived of their parents’ company during questioning: “If that had been true, surely they would have brought those issues up and prevailed in pretrial hearings on the voluntariness of their statements, as well as in their lawsuit against the city. They didn’t, because it never happened,” Fairstein writes. Fairstein also says that DuVernay portrays her as an “prosecutor and a bigot, the police as incompetent or worse, and the five suspects as innocent of all charges against them” and claims that “none of this is true.” She finishes by arguing that “it is a wonderful thing that these five men have taken themselves to responsible positions and community respect,” but reiterated that DuVernay “ignored so much of the truth about the gang of 30 and about the suffering of their victims” and described this as an “outrage.” Ava’s response to Linda’s “outrage?” The filmmaker responded to the op-ed on Twitter, calling Fairstein’s words “expected and typical.” Then she simply added, “Onward.” Expected and typical. Onward… https://t.co/phJtFpvH0a — Ava DuVernay (@ava) June 11, 2019 Our thoughts exactly. We’ll leave Fairstein to worry about stepping down from more boards and her book publisher dropping her like a hot ceramic plate.
Source: Brian Ach / Getty Looks like Kanye and Pusha T might have to cough up some hard earned dough for not clearing a music sample for Pusha’s 2018 album, Daytona . According to Times Daily , FAME Enterprises Inc. has slapped the controversial producer with a lawsuit claiming that Pusha’s “Come Back Baby” contains a sample of George Jackson’s ’72 song “I Can’t Do Without You.” George Jackson recorded “I Can’t Do Without You” at FAME before 1972, which makes it exempt from the Copyright Act of 1972, according to the filing. The suit lists defendants as West, Pusha-T and UMG Recordings, which owns the Def Jam Recordings label and sub-label of Def Jam Recordings. Def Jam and GOOD also are listed as defendants. The plaintiffs were really specific with their allegations too while throwing a little shade at both Kanye and Pusha T for jacking beats. The suit states “Come Back Baby” lasts 3 minutes, 27 seconds with the Jackson sample comprising 1 minute, 13 seconds of it. “This means that over 35 percent of the entire sound recording ‘Come Back Baby’ is comprised of unauthorized, unlicensed samples of ‘I Can’t Do Without You,’” the suit declares. It further states that “Come Back Baby” is “about drug addiction and the money made from selling drugs,” and that the plaintiffs would not have authorized licensing the song “for such a use under any circumstances.” The filing also asserts, “Defendants have a pattern and practice of willfully sampling sound recordings without consent or permission.” Though FAME Enterprises Inc. is demanding that this trial go to the jury, we have a feeling Yeezy might just up and decide to settle this out of court for an undisclosed amount of money.
Source: Miami Herald / Getty DJ Khaled is supposed to be all about positivity, unless his album doesn’t do no. 1, allegedly. The Miami rapper/DJ/producer/self-promoter is reportedly prepping to sue Billboard because he really was big mad his Father of Asahd album came in seconds to Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR . Apparently, Khaled feels Billboard didn’t count 100K in sales. Reports Page Six : DJ Khaled is poised to hit the Billboard Chart with a monster lawsuit alleging the organization unfairly disqualified more than 100,000 sales of “Father of Asahd,” robbing him of the No. 1 spot. Khaled was furious when his album came in at No. 2 to Tyler, the Creator’s “IGOR,” after Billboard allegedly discounted downloads sold by the DJ and producer as part of a “bundle deal” with an energy drink. Bundle deals, which offer album downloads alongside merchandise, are a standard but controversial industry practice to boost sales. We’re told Billboard had agreed it would count downloads from Khaled’s energy drink package, which sources in the artist’s camp say amounted to more than 100,000. Billboard later backtracked, disqualifying Khaled’s entire sales from the promotion, arguing there were “anomalies” in his figures. Page Six has exclusively learned that lawyers for Khaled have fired off a letter to Silvio Pietroluongo, SVP of charts and data development at Billboard. Reportedly, Khaled’s team also feels a ways before Tyler, the Creator’s bundles sales were included in his figures. The things is, at this point, it doesn’t matter. If people were/are rocking with Khaled’s new album, they’d be bumping it no matter what, but it seems like that just isn’t the case—no shots.
Source: Justin Sullivan / Getty Uber Driver Receives Multiple Charges For Raping Baltimore Woman With every story that breaks about these ride sharing apps, it becomes more and more difficult to trust these drivers, and here’s another incident that drives home the exact sentiment. An Uber driver in Baltimore has been charged with raping one of his passengers in the back seat of his car. Police charged 31-year-old Joshua Robinson with rape and assault on Friday after he reportedly raped and assaulted a 25-year-old woman on the night of June 1. According to investigators on the case, someone ordered an Uber to pick the woman up to be taken home at around 10:30 p.m. When she didn’t make it home on time, her father panicked and used a phone app to find her location. That is when, officials said, she was found in the area of Jenifer Road and W. Timonium Road. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When the woman’s worried father arrived at the location, he saw a car parked and ended up walking right up to it. When the father opened the door, he found his daughter lying in the back seat of the vehicle appearing “visibly upset.” Robinson was also in the back seat. After that, the father and Robinson got into an argument, in which Robinson punched the man in his face and got into his driver’s seat after throwing the victim’s purse out of the car. Finally, Robinson then fled the scene. Joshua Jamaal Robinson was arrested on Thursday and charged with second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense and two counts of second-degree assault. He is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections. Officials from Uber ended up releasing a statement, saying the following: “What’s been reported is appalling beyond words. We removed the driver from the app as soon as this was reported to us. We will work with police on their investigation.” And there you have it. Do you still trust these ride-sharing apps to get you to your destination safely?
