Source: Celebrities watch the Los Angeles Lakers Featuring: Nipsey Hussle Where: Los Angeles, California, United States When: 02 Apr 2017 Credit: WENN.com Uploaded By Godspeed It looks like Nipsey Hussle’s famous flagship store The Marathon Clothing will be closing it’s doors for an unspecified amount of time. The news came on their official IG page a few days ago when a post went up thanking everyone for shopping at Nipsey’s baby and went on to announce, “We are working around the clock to fulfill every order placed. We ask for your patience as we get everything fulfilled and shipped out to you. Additionally, our flagship store is closed right now, but our online store is open 24/7 to serve you and is the only authorized retailer of our brand. Once again, thank you for your support.” View this post on Instagram Thank you A post shared by The Marathon Clothing (@themarathonclothing) on May 6, 2019 at 10:26am PDT How long the brick and mortar store will remained closed is anyone’s guess but we hope this isn’t a precursor to a statement saying that it’s a wrap for The Marathon Clothing store on Slauson Ave. After Nipsey Hussle’s murder there was a huge influx of customers purchasing gear from Marathon Clothing whether in person or online but it seems like the orders might’ve become a bit much for the spot to handle. Hopefully they’ll be able to get things back on track and reopen the store that Nipsey Hussle saw as a vessel to help Black and Brown communities across the board prosper. R.I.P. Nip.

Source: Francine Orr / Getty Former O.J. Prosecutor Chris Darden Withdraws From Nipsey Murder Case Chris Darden is set to appear in court today alongside the man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle for the first and only time; He is withdrawing from the case partly because of the threats he’s received for the defending Eric Holder. Darden announced his decision on his Facebook page, writing, “After centuries of a history of black men hung from trees without trial, or after the thousands of cases of black men tried, convicted and executed without counsel … I cannot understand why in 2019 some people would deny a black man his 6th Amendment right to counsel of his choice. Or why defending such a man should invite threats not only against me but against my children too.” He continued, saying, “The right to counsel is … not only a constitutional right, it is a civil right as well. Just as they were in 1995-Cowards never change. These days these cowards don’t send letters instead they sit anonymously behind keyboards threatening a man’s mother and children. And some folks think that’s funny. It isn’t and I won’t ever forget it.” Darden continued on to address his critics directly, saying, “To those who issued those threats to my children please pay close attention so there is no misunderstanding. Later. F**K YOU!” He ended his statement by saying, “As for me, I continue to thrive. I continue to be loved. I continue to walk with kings. And I will continue my pursuit of fairness and justice on behalf of my clients and others charged with crimes. After 25 years some of them still haven’t learned : Their lies and threats will never deter me from my mission. Thank you again my good friends. The struggle continues. Thank you.” Chris Darden had been on the receiving end of numerous threats since his decision to represent the man suspected of killing rapper Nipsey Hussle became public. His daughter, Jenee, went on social media after her father intially took the case, also saying that she was “receiving vile comments and messages.” “Like many of you, I found out about my father’s involvement in the case while scrolling through social media. I was not prepared for this backlash that has triggered bad memories from the O.J. Simpson trial.” Do you think Darden made the right decision in withdrawing from this case? Or is it too late?

We are people who have been impacted by cages — either by being in them ourselves or witnessing our families and loved ones be encaged. We are queer, trans, young, elder, and immigrant.” Ending cash bail has become a rising issue in the larger effort to end mass incarceration. According to the Prison Policy Initiative , more than 500,000 people who haven’t been convicted of a crime are detained before their trial. Many are detained in local jails because they can’t pay the bail amounts. The median bail amount for a felony is $10,000 which is about eight months of income for a typical person detained because they can’t afford bail. According to recent studies , Black and Latinx folks are more likely than White people to be detained without bail, and in situations where bail is granted, it’s often set at a significantly higher rate for people of color. According to an NAACP fact sheet , Black women are also incarcerated at twice the rate of White women and a 2010 study showed that one in nine Black kids have an incarcerated parent, which could often lead to disruptive living situations for the kid or the missing of important childhood events. For folks interested in the #FreeBlackMamas cause, the National Bail Out collective provides a donation link here .

According to court documents , Pauline Randol was fatally shot by her son at their Fawn River Township home on Monday morning and family found her dead in the living room hours later. The Randol family says Pauline adopted the boy two years before and had expressed concern for his mental health and the safety of others. Fawn River residents told reporters that they heard screaming coming from the home minutes before deputies arrived at the scene. The boy’s sister, Harley Martin, told WOOD-TV: “[Pauline] had told her doctor one time she was so scared she was raising the next serial killer. [But] I want people to know that he’s not a bad kid. He loved his mom. I don’t want people to think he did not love his mom. He doesn’t know what he did. He doesn’t understand what’s going on right now at all. He doesn’t understand why he can’t come home or anything.” The boy has also been charged with using a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is now undergoing psychiatric treatment, but no word on whether or not he’ll be charged as an adult or juvenile.
Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN via MadameNoire.com : Last year there were two documentaries about Whitney Houston that were released on various platforms. The one that was released in theaters, Whitney contained a detail that the other Showtime documentary, Whitney: Can I Be Me?, did not. Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news. ( Terms and conditions ). Whitney , produced in part by Whitney’s sister-in-law Pat Houston, contained a shocking claim. Mary Jones, the woman who served as Whitney’s longtime assistant shared that Whitney told her that she was molested by her cousin Dee Dee Warwick, sister to famous singer Dionne Warwick. Jones claimed that Whitney told her that she was molested by her cousin Dee Dee Warwick. Since then, both Cissy Houston and Dionne Warwick came out to deny the claims. Recently, in an interview with People , Warwick doubled down on the claims, saying that she was still upset about the way her sister was represented in the film. “All I can say about Dee Dee is that she was a loving, caring, giving person. What was depicted of her is absolutely untrue and something I will never forgive.” What’s interesting about Warwick’s insistence of her sister’s innocence is that Jones wasn’t the only one to make these claims about Dee Dee Warwick. Email Submit Whitney’s brother Gary Garland-Houston also shared during the documentary that he was also molested by Dee Dee Warwick. When the film was initially released, Pat Houston, Gary’s wife, spoke to the Associated Press about the claims and the difficulty of breaking the news to Cissy Houston, Gary and Whitney’s mother. “It was deeply a revelation for her. You think about her, and it being a bit overbearing for her to hear — and her kids not telling her. That’s pretty tough to have to deal with.” Dee Dee Warwick, who was 18 years older than Whitney Houston, used to babysit both Whitney and Gary when Cissy was touring. Whitney and Gary were 7 and 9-years-old respectively. They were around this age when the alleged abuse took place. Dionne is not the only one who had a hard time believing the allegations. Cissy Houston only spoke about the claims in a joint statement she released with Dionne Warwick. “We cannot reconcile the Public’s need to know about Whitney’s life as justification for invasion of her privacy or the charge against Dee Dee, a charge which neither Whitney nor Dee Dee is here to deny, refute or affirm. Neither I, Dionne, nor my son Michael who was very close to his sister, and in the film is VERY candid about their drug use, has ever heard these allegations; we have never heard anything remotely connected to the crimes charged against Dee Dee in the film.” Jones has heard of Warwick and Cissy Houston’s displeasure with her claims and said: “I was close to Whitney, she confided in me and I struggled tremendously deciding whether to share this secret or keep to myself,” Jones said in a statement of the alleged abuse. “I deeply love and respect Dionne, Cissy and their entire families, and my intention was never to embarrass anyone in the family, but rather to bring to light that Whitney was subjected to something painful and troubling as a child. And it’s something that happens to other innocent kids and goes unspoken too much. I decided to share the story so that people might understand that throughout her entire life Whitney carried this with her, and the weight of it was immense,” she said. “Whitney was a wonderful woman, an angel, and she did not drag herself down all alone — there was a cause.” ALSO TRENDING ON RICKEYSMILEYMORNINGSHOW.COM : RHOA Star Eva Marcille Is Pregnant With Baby No. 3!
