Most recently, he’s launched a scholarship through the Shawn Carter Foundation for students who would like to study abroad. “The study abroad program was designed by JAY-Z’s charitable foundation and the Institute for International Education (IIE)/Gilman International Scholarship Program. The program was started to ‘designed to expand the global experiences and leadership opportunities for underserved students through establishment of full study-abroad scholarships,’ Travel Noire reports, adding that “according to data from the foundation, 64 percent of the foundation’s scholars are first-generation college students.” Students who are selected will reportedly be required to complete a service project while abroad. Hov’s scholarship for study abroad opportunities comes just as the music mogul is beginning to gain traction in his fight to reform the criminal justice system . For the first time, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss America are all Black women and the three appeared on CBS to describe their journey and groundbreaking wins: “It’s symbolic, I think, and it sends a message across the world really that you can be anything you want to be, and there doesn’t have to be just one of us at a time up here,” Miss America 2019 Nia Franklin said on Tuesday. “It can be all. And I think it showcases diversity as well.” Cheslie Kryst, who won the title of Miss USA last Thursday also added, “It’s also a reminder of how far we have to go.” She continued: “I believe when Ursula Burns was no longer the CEO of Xerox, there were no more Black female CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and that is an unfortunate statistic to know. So I think this celebration or this landmark should we celebrated, but it’s also a reminder we have a lot to do.” Kryst currently serves as an attorney in North Carolina who practices civil litigation, and she also represents prisoners in pro-bono work. Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris , who ignored advice and proudly showcased her natural curls during the competition, also explained how representation matters: “I have all these influencers that I look up to on social media. Now I’m getting messages from moms of biracial kids, and kids themselves that are biracial. And girls that are scared to wear their hair naturally, and them saying that I have been a big influence in their lives and that they’re going to start wearing their hair naturally or that they’re more proud to just be themselves. It fills my heart with joy,” Garris said. Garris explained how she used to always straighten her hair for pageants: “It’s just kind of what I did. I looked up to my mom a lot, and she had straight blond hair. I really wanted to embody the same characteristics and I thought I had to do that physically. Jackie Aina uploaded a video on Tuesday titled, “Turning My Mom Into an IG Baddie For A Day!!!” where she spends the day getting her mom all the way glam in honor of the approaching holiday. From a full beat face, to glam wigs and outfit changes, her mom really did transform into the Jackie we all know and love. In honor of this fun video from Ms. Aina, let’s take a look at some other beauty gurus who have brought their mom in to break up the monotony of another make-up video. Another great example of this is from one of our other faves, Alissa Ashley . A couple of months back, she made a video revamping her mom’s makeup routine in an effort to have her looking as youthful as possible–I mean, just LOOK at the difference in that thumbnail. If you’re good at makeup and still don’t know what to get your mama for the big day, a nice makeover really might just do the trick! In a fun twist of events, Alissa’s twin sister Arnell Armon also made a video with their mom–but this time, she’s the one doing her daughter’s makeup! This video is hilarious and just shows that spending quality time with mamadukes is good no matter what you end up doing……even if you end up looking crazy from a botched makeup job. A little over a year ago, a Youtuber by the name of Raven Elyse gave her mom a full glam makeover and the results were absolutely stunning! A lot of us learn about makeup through our moms as children, so it’s fun to turn the situation around and teach our mamas something for a change. Everyone knows how full of personality Patrick Starrr is, so it’s really no surprise that his mom has just as much outrageousness in her as the beauty guru we all know and love. In all, the social media megastar has helped 17 inmates gain freedom in the past 90 days. TMZ reports : We’ve learned Kim and her legal team helped 17 prisoners gain freedom over the last 3 months or so — each of them having served years of life sentences without parole … for low-level drug offenses. It’s all part of the 90 Days of Freedom campaign launched by Kim’s lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, in partnership with lawyer MiAngel Cody of The Decarceration Collective. The campaign puts the First Step Act — signed by President Trump last year — to work for prisoners who received Draconian sentences. Kim is footing the bill while Barnett, who also co-founded the Buried Alive advocacy group, and Cody handle the lawyering. We’re told Kim’s been secretly funding the campaign over the past few months. We’ve known about a few cases Kim’s backed — Jeffrey Stringer in Florida, Cyntoia Brown in Tennessee, Alice Marie Johnson in Alabama — but now we know the list is much longer. Twitter announced a new update allowing users to do such adding more flavor to your conversations on the social media platform. The update which is now has been rolled out across Apple iOS and Android devices will now all users to add up to four pieces of multimedia whether it be four photos, videos or a gif. When doing so, the original tweet will now be placed conveniently below so it doesn’t get lost in the conversation. When speaking about the new feature, Twitter broke down the process of coming up with the function and stated in a series of Tweets: “People come to Twitter to share their thoughts on interests, events, and news, and we wanted to give them more ways to express themselves.” “During the first usability test, we found it was challenging for people to quickly understand all the content in a Retweet with media. This was due to the layout; two large Tweets stacked on top of each other.” “To improve comprehension, we focused on creating hierarchy, prioritizing the author’s voice, and providing more context around the Tweet being Retweeted.” Next, we ran a second usability test, introducing a condensed inner Tweet that was styled similar to a pull quote. This was to help differentiate the two components of the Retweet. Participants reacted well to it. During the first usability test, we found it was challenging for people to quickly understand all the content in a Retweet with media.
