We’ve watched Nene Leakes and Porsha Williams ‘ beef for most of the season and the reunion episodes, and now they’re beef has reached court document level — at least according to Porsha. The new mom told PEOPLE that after she took to Instagram to share screenshots of Nene fat-shaming her while pregnant, Leakes sent her a cease and desist letter. “After that whole Instagram back and forth that she started with me, she ended up sending me a cease and desist. So once she sent me a cease and desist, at that point, I was like, ‘You know what? This is just a sure sign that I should be done with the relationship.’ So I’m over it. I’m concentrating on my baby girl. And people who love and support me at this moment.” You may recall that in the lethal texts, Nene called Porsha a “lying a** big fat hungry b***h” and a “big piggy with the busted shape.” The Swag shop owner has made it clear that she’s no longer friends with any of the girls on the show, and judging by her taking matters to court, it’s probably safe to say she won’t be sippin’ tea with the ladies anytime soon. Thoughts?

Viola Davis Spreads Awareness About Diabetes Through New Documentary

T he racial health disparity surrounding diabetes is on the rise. According to a study conducted by the National Institutes of Health , in the U.S. Black adults are almost twice as likely to develop type 2 diabetes in comparison to white adults. Actress Viola Davis is utilizing her platform as an avenue to spread awareness about this matter in hopes of reversing this alarming trend. She recently joined forces with the pharmaceutical company Merck to narrate a documentary that captures how the disease is impacting communities across the country, PR Newswire reported. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday. For Davis, the diabetes struggle is personal. She herself has prediabetes, two of her sisters were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and one of her family members died after battling with the disease. “I’m one of the 84 million American adults living with prediabetes and I’m sharing my story for the first time in an effort to inspire others to take action against the type 2 diabetes epidemic,” she said in a statement. “My sisters are both struggling with type 2 diabetes and my aunt also died from complications of the disease. Growing up, we just said they had ‘the sugar,’ which didn’t sound that concerning. But, when you look at the facts, there’s nothing harmless about diabetes – it’s a chronic disease that needs to be taken seriously if we’re going to get it under control.” The film explores how culture and socio-economic issues are intertwined with the epidemic. Conrod Kelly who serves as the Executive Director of the Diabetes Franchise at Merck says the film was created to put “a much-needed spotlight on the real people affected by it firsthand,” and hopes that it inspires people to take action. Films like A Touch of Sugar are needed to spread awareness about the ever-growing epidemic. According to the news outlet, 30 million adults in the U.S. are living with diabetes. M any of the nation’s largest corporations have fallen short when it comes to racial diversity in the C-suite—especially in the realm of tech. Research shows that African Americans make up less than two percent of employees and less than one percent of executives at major tech companies. Despite the statistics, there are Black professionals who are dedicated to changing the face of leadership in tech. According to Black Enterprise , Kenny Mitchell has been named Snapchat’s new chief marketing officer; making him the social media app’s first Black C-suite executive. She can’t be President of The United States if she doesn’t pass the smell test with African-American women. During the She The People Forum in Houston on Wednesday, Warren spoke directly to the issues that she has her sights on that would directly improve the lives of Black women. Here’s what she said according to FoxNews : “And there is a specific problem, as you rightly identified, for women of color who are three, four times more likely to die in childbirth,” Warren said. “And here’s the thing, even after we do the adjustments for income, for education, this is true across the board. This is true for well-educated African American women, for wealthy African American women, and the best studies that I’m seeing put it down to just one thing, prejudice,” she added. “That doctors and nurses don’t hear African American women’s medical issues the same way that they hear the same things from white women.” That’s pretty direct. Warren’s plan to rectify this problem is to offer incentives to hospitals who manage to balance the infant mortality rate and remove certain funding if the rate begins to increase. Instead of “Land of the free and home of the brave”, America’s motto should be “find a way, or make one.” Aspiring fashion designer and prison inmate Shod is the perfect of making a way out of no way after he debuted his brand new clothing line while behind bars. Shod went viral this week after video of him modeling his “The Trenches” clothing line made its rounds on the Internet. He took the material from a prison mat and fused it with his inmate attire to create the fashionable uniforms. The Atlanta native says he uses dental floss and a paperclip to sew his clothes. Shod told The Shade Room : “I want people to know my story because location doesn’t determine destination. I want to inspire others to make something out of nothing and reach their full potential without making excuses. I wanted to actually design and make clothes to sell…I want to inspire others to elevate their hustle. I want to make a name for myself as a fashion designer in the fashion community. I also want to start a non-profit organization for low-income communities in Atlanta and eventually expand nationwide.” Shod was arrested back in 2016 on robbery charges, but is set to be released in October of this year. Even though he’s gained some notoriety with his inmate fashions, Shod doesn’t want to just use his talents and recent internet fame to rake in money; he also wants to help steer children in the right direction. That’s what’s up.
