They’re suing two of Smollett’s defense attorneys, Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian, for defamation and false light. They were initially arrested as suspects in the alleged attack, only to be released later. According to court documents obtained by the Chicago Sun Times, the brothers say Smollett paid them to stage the attack and directed every aspect of the scheme. “Mr. Smollett used his clout as a wealthy actor to influence Plaintiffs, who were in a subordinate relationship to him and were aspiring to ‘make it’ in Hollywood,” the lawsuit said. “Mr. Smollett’s motivation was simple. He wanted his employer and the public to notice and appreciate him as a successful black, openly gay actor. So, Mr. Smollett directed every aspect of the attack, including the location and the noose.” Cook County state’s attorney’s office dropped all criminal charges against Smollett last month after he paid $10,000 and performed community service. After those charges were dropped, the Osundairo brothers claim both lawyers continued to blame them for the attack in multiple media appearances. Glandian is accused of going as far as suggesting Smollett and Bola Osundairo had a sexual relationship during an interview on a podcast. That claim allegedly caused Bola severe distress as he is heterosexual, in a relationship and often visits family in Nigeria. Same-sex activity is illegal in Nigeria and can result in 14 years in prison or death. This federal lawsuit comes on the heels of another lawsuit from the City of Chicago demanding Smollett pay them back for money spent on the investigation. According to Jojo, who penned What If Jussie Smollett Is Telling The Truth? for BET, Jussie “didn’t even want to contact police” to begin with. “He was weary and didn’t care for the unnecessary attention it might garner. His choreographer insisted, and the choreographer contacted the police himself,” Jojo wrote in the op-ed, also claiming Jussie is now suffering mentally. The Empire actor has since been acquitted but faces a civil lawsuit from the city of Chicago who claims he intentionally misled police . “I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW EASILY easily everyone accepted the ridiculous motive about Jussie’s career that was promulgated. Jussie had actually begun directing episodes of Empire , which brought additional compensation. He worked out a deal with Fox to own 100% of his music masters, released an album, which lead to a sold out world tour and he donated every cent of ticket sales to charity,” he wrote. “He even signed the group, June’s Diary, to his label. My brother was developing two films with one of the biggest producers in Hollywood, had the lead to a Broadway show on the table and owns the option rights to the authorized autobiography of his idol, Alvin Ailey. The gentleman who was also hit in the shooting has been given his freedom back. As reported by Page Six Kerry Lathan has been released from a detention center in California on Saturday, April 20. The Los Angle native witnessed the assassination of the “Racks In The Middle” rapper on March 31 where he too took a bullet to his back. Upon his release from the hospital, he was promptly put into police custody. As a felon who served 25 years for murder being with a known gang member was in direct violation of his parole terms. Luckily the legal system was able to apply common sense to his situation. His lawyer Lauren Noriega claimed that the 56-year-old was at the scene by chance. “He wasn’t there to propose any business to Nipsey . He had no idea that Nipsey would be there” Noriega explained. Previous reports alleged Nipsey was meeting him to give him free clothes. Lathan suffered a stroke while in custody and still has the bullet lodged in his back. And Kodak Black may now be realizing how serious his situation is, judging by the docs he just filed in connection with the case. The rapper has asked for more time to mount his defense before his case heads to trial, BOSSIP has learned. Cops have charged Kodak with criminal sexual contact in the first degree following the alleged rape. A high school girl told police that Kodak raped her in his hotel room after a performance, throwing her around and biting her during the alleged assault, according to the affidavit, which was obtained by BOSSIP. Lawyers for the rapper recently argued that they need the delay in legal proceedings in order to prep for trial and to handle issues surrounding the evidence in the case. That may mean he’ll plan to contest a judge’s order for his DNA after investigators said they found what they believe is his genes on his alleged victim. Kodak’s paperwork said that the state solicitor didn’t object, so a judge signed off on it, according to the motion. No trial date has been set, but if he’s convicted, he faces up to 30 years in state prison. Kodak’s rape case isn’t the only legal battle he’s fighting. Last week, cops busted the “Zeze” rapper with guns and weed after he accidentally drove into Canada while on his way to a performance.

We start the episode with Mimi, Sierra, Rasheeda, and Pooh. Mimi is still acting clueless about why her Black History tour with Spice fell apart. And then…Pooh goes on and one, again, about how she had an alleged threesome with Karlie Redd but that Karlie Redd keeps denying it. Mimi brings up a good point, which is that the Karlie we all know would usually own up to some mess like that so it’s odd that she would deny it in this case. In any event, Karlie’s engagement party is coming up, and we already know how these things go. Speaking of Karlie, she and her fiance are visiting with the fertility doctor because he told her she has to kick her ivf treatments into high gear aka it’s time to stop pretending she’s 25, or 35, for that matter: Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Anyway, Karlie’s fiance steps out and she uses his absence to say what she really had to say. She tells the doctor that she has been on her period for over a month. That obviously isn’t normal, so the doctor orders some tests because this could be a miscarriage. But we won’t find out what the results are until next week’s episode. But back to Karlie’s other drama. Che Mack got a resident DJ gig at a nightclub. It’s the same club Karlie is having her engagement party. You know where this is going, right? So, Karlie stops by the club and learns that Che will be her party’s DJ. Che starts talking all this yang about how they should put the past behind them and Karlie is looking like: That annoys Che Mack. In Che’s world, she and Karlie have a history, but Karlie is acting like she doesn’t know her. Later on, we find Che Mack linking up with Pooh. Pooh isn’t going to Karlie’s party but she gives Che Mack a notarized note and asks her to use it to expose Karlie Redd at her engagement party. Che Mack takes a look at the paper’s contents and says she’d be livid if someone did that to her at her party, but you know what? Che is dumb enough to take this drama to the party. Che Mack starts up right after Karlie gives her thank you speech and gets all the pleasantries out of the way. Che goes from giving Karlie Redd a shout out to talking about how she has a message for Karlie from someone who couldn’t be there. This obviously goes downhill. Che goes on about Pooh and Karlie’s alleged threesome, then Karlie attempts to throw her microphone at Che. Karlie’s fiance has a firm grip on her so she can charge at anyone and security kicks Che Mack outta there. That’s that. Next week, we get Karlie’s prognosis and potentially find out that her man is cheating. See you then.
