J ussie Smollett ‘s career has taken a huge hit since he was accused of staging a hate crime. This week, it was reported that Smollett is no longer considered to play the lead role in the Broadway revival of “ Take Me Out ,” which is about a about a mixed-race baseball. Also, there have been several reports that this will be Smollett last season on “Empire.” Now, his older brother, JoJo Smollett is speaking out in an essay for BET . He slams the Chicago Police Department, the Osundairo brothers and the court of public opinion. See Also: Complete Timeline Of Jussie Smollett Investigation In the lengthy essay , JoJo writes, “Within less than three months, his life has been turned upside down as my family and I have witnessed him endure unrelenting attacks to his character and reputation. Like so many others, this entire process quickly devolved from a focus on him as a victim of assault, to him being falsely accused and held responsible for a crime that was perpetrated against him. To define this experience as unjust would be an understatement.” He also takes aim at the Osundairo brothers, accusing them of changing their story, “Jussie had already refused to sign a complaint against the Osundarios, convinced that these men, one who he had considered a friend and the other an acquaintance, could not be his attackers. Most importantly, detectives refused to show Jussie video, photos, or any evidence to prove they were the attackers. The fact that these two brothers, who in the final hour confessed to attacking my brother yet say it was Jussie who told them to, is all the evidence that the police and the general public needed to be convinced, should be frightening to everyone.” He continued, “With not one inkling of solid evidence, many believed the false witness testimony from two suspects who turned into witnesses, even though they lacked standard credibility. It was under-reported that one of the “witnesses” had previously been arrested for attempted murder ending with a plea deal for aggravated battery, or that the brothers repeatedly expressed homophobia on their social media in the past. Additionally, it was never reported that they changed their story while under police interrogation.” Olabinjo Osundairo was charged with attempted murder in 2011. The Chicago Sun-Times reported two months ago, “Court records show that Olabinjo Osundairo was charged with attempted murder in a 2011 stabbing that occurred in the 4200 block of North Ashland. That is less than a block from the home that police raided in the Smollett investigation, where they recovered personal effects, including cell phones, a source said.” Olabinjo Osundairo allegedly reached a plea deal “with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to aggravated battery; he was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay a $674 fine.” JoJo rips into the Chicago Police Department, pointing out their inconsistencies, “The Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department announced publicly that Jussie’s motive in staging an attack was so he could make more money from ‘Empire.’ Fox immediately said that wasn’t true but the police chief never withdrew his accusation. The chief also stated as fact that Jussie had sent himself the threatening letter that arrived at the ‘Empire’ production offices weeks before the attack. The FBI then refuted this claim. Again, the chief did not correct his accusations. Letting it float for the public to either believe or not.” He also added, “The entire police case rested on two witnesses that lacked credibility and there was no physical evidence tying Jussie to this crime.” You can read the full essay, here . On Jan. 29, while walking to a subway, Smollett claimed two men yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him, investigators told The Hollywood Reporter . They allegedly punched and poured bleach on him while one of the suspects put a rope around his neck. As they fled the scene, Smollett told police they said, “This is MAGA country.” The city of Chicago is now suing Smollett for a half a million dollars. Kim Foxx , the Cook County State Attorney, has been attacked by the Chicago Police and is calling for a prob into the 16 felony counts being dropped. Jussie Smollett has maintained his innocence. The comedian was slapped with a $25,000 judgment from a 2016 incident in where he allegedly punched a man in the face. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Georgia judge has granted a default judgment in favor of Tyrell Williams against Katt. Williams has also filed docs to start the process of seizing Katt’s assets to collect on the $25k. Back in 2016, Tyrell Williams sued the comedian accusing him of punching him in the face at an after-hours party. Williams claimed following one of Katt’s shows, he attended an after-hours party and began to Snapchat a picture of Katt According to the outlet, Tyrell Williams says Katt Williams snatched his iPhone out his hand and the fists went flying. S tudents from Spelman College showed up and showed out at the annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Championship Tournament in California. According to HBCU Buzz , students from the school won the competition and took a $75,000 institutional grant back to Atlanta. Daniel Bascelli served as the team’s coach. “Winning itself isn’t the only reward. It’s about bringing these students together and watching them represent their school in the best possible way,” Bascelli said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “The spirit at Spelman is really strong. If you talk to the students, the feeling for Spelman, the feeling for HCBCUs and the support that Honda gives them is all a part of the pride that they feel.” Florida A&M University, Jackson State University and Morehouse College rounded out the top four. The competition, which has been in existence for 30 years, was created as an avenue for Honda to make an impact in the lives of students who attend historically Black colleges and universities. “Through HCASC, students are given an opportunity to demonstrate the value of their HBCU experience, represent their schools on a national stage, and connect with like-minded peers,” Steve Morikawa , VP of Corporate Relations and Social Responsibility, American Honda, said in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating the HCASC legacy and the friendships we’ve made over the past 30 years.” Through the competition, Honda has awarded $8 million in grants to HBCUs and 125,000 students have participated. Several companies are making an effort to contribute to the education of HBCU students. Hennessy teamed up with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund for the creation of a graduate fellowship program . A teen from Georgia is turning his tragedy into triumph and is living proof that with hard work and perseverance it’s possible to beat the odds. According to Inside Edition Tre Lawson —a track star who was paralyzed after a car accident—is aiming to get back to running. Tre Lawson is on a mission to run again — and hopefully inspire others in the process https://t.co/9xf5x2SyWH — News4JAX (@wjxt4) April 20, 2019 At one point Lawson, who attended Westside High School, was one of the top track athletes in the country, but things took a tragic turn in 2017. After winning a track meet, he got into a car with a group of friends and the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle went off the road and crashed. Lawson suffered serious injuries including damage done to his head, abdomen, and spinal cord. He woke up in the hospital nearly a month after the accident occurred. “It was a huge depressing moment. I thought maybe this is the last time I’ll be able to run again, my career is over. I was wondering if the coaches would still be interested in me even if I recover in due time,” he told the news outlet. “Looking at the four walls of the hospital room, you become depressed really quickly.” Although it took a while for Lawson to come to terms with what had happened, he ultimately decided he wouldn’t let his circumstances defeat him. He was motivated to get back on the track. He went through a rigorous rehabilitation program at the Shepherd Center based in Atlanta. Day after day Lawson went hard with his strength training so that he wouldn’t have to be confined to a wheelchair. He recently got back on the track at his high school with a walker and was able to walk 200 meters in 30 minutes. He says that the accident has inspired him to focus on the positive aspects of life. “Every day isn’t a sunny day. You have to have rain in order to have a rainbow some days.” Lawson has launched his own nonprofit organization for patients at the Shepherd Center. SEE ALSO: T.I. Source: Bravo / Getty Tonight’s episode Real Housewives of Atlanta is the final installment of the season 11 reunion, thankfully. It dragged on so long that it seemed like the entire season was the reunion. Anyway, tonight’s episode starts with Porsha calling NeNe out for giving her advice about not putting hands on people but turning around and putting her hands on people. So, you remember the closet incident, right? Turns out, NeNe (allegedly) choked one of the producers, who then had to go to the hospital and chipped a cameraman’s tooth. That was in addition to charging at Kandi and Porsha too. Andy then asks NeNe if she felt bad for putting her hands on people because he’s messy, but of course, NeNe said she doesn’t feel bad. Marlo is egging NeNe on but she gets called out because when that incident happened, you could hear her yelling, “She’s pregnant!” She was talking about Porsha because NeNe charged her at her and managed to pull her belt off. On stage, Marlo claims she doesn’t even remember saying that and that she didn’t see NeNe even touch Porsha. NeNe also plays dumb and says she wasn’t even near Porsha. It was weird. Marlo was NeNe’s hypeman the entire night, but NeNe likes her friends sycophantic so… The entire reunion was pretty much Tanya, Cynthia, Porsha, Kandi and at times, Eva, that NeNe can be foul. They did this last week, and the week after that and guess what, NeNe pretends she doesn’t care and tries to turn this into what she usually does by saying that all the girls on the show love going against her because she’s the Queen Bee. Eva gets her moment to call out NeNe for pretending that her mic was off in order to talk to her that time Eva left their outing to go home because she was tired of them grilling her. NeNe doesn’t think she was wrong in that situation either. Eva explains that she was hurt because she had to learn that NeNe lied to her on TV. Again, NeNe doesn’t care. Then we move on to Eva talking about her domestic violence situation with her ex playing a major role in why he had to move so much. And Marlo chimes in talking about Eva isn’t genuine—as if anyone asked her. In other news, Cynthia’s love life is flourishing. We know she’s planning to marry Mike, which is a big deal because she is pretty much the runaway bride. But her friendship with NeNe is done, once again. This time they fell out over Kenya coming to Cynthia’s party. Basically, Cynthia looked shady because she and Kandi said they were going to pretend they didn’t know Kenya was coming but tonight we learn that the editing played a role in how it looked. According to Kandi, Kenya told her last minute, as in right before she was entering the party, that Kenya was coming. Kandi then passed the word on to Cynthia so that’s when Cynthia said she was just going to pretend she didn’t know Kenya was coming because she didn’t want any drama with NeNe. Kandi and Cynthia both explain that they didn’t intend it to be shady but NeNe doesn’t care. She’s pissed at them for lying—basically doing the same thing she did to Eva. Then there’s another nasty back and forth between Cynthia and NeNe with Marlo yapping in the background as well. Finally, it’s clear that Cynthia is over it, and with NeNe and Marlo acting like Mean Girls, it’s understandable. There’s even one point where Cynthia can be heard saying, “This is not enough money.” Andy gives Cynthia and NeNe a chance to say some closing remarks as the episode winds down. Cynthia acknowledges that she may have looked crazy at the party but that she didn’t intend to hurt NeNe, and that NeNe said some hurtful things too. But Cynthia is ready to move forward since NeNe insists on being evil and bitter. NeNe decides not to address Cynthia at all. Porsha jumps in talking about how sad it is that Cynthia and NeNe are no longer friends, for the umpteenth time, and that she hopes they can get cool again. Whatevs. Finally, We close out the reunion with Porsha leading a prayer because all of them will need it, especially if they’re going to get back together to film season 12. But leave NeNe out of it. She needs a break from the show indefinitely…or forever. Source: SOPA Images / Getty Toddler Finds Used Condom In McDonald’s Lobby McDonald’s has issuesd an apology after a 2-year-old was seen sucking on a used condom that they discovered in the restaurant. The mother–who chose to be identified only as Wendy–said she rushed her daughter to the hospital after seeing her put the condom in her mouth and is now worried she may have contracted an STD. She also added that it could take up to two months to find out from blood tests if her daughter has any infections. This incident reportedly happened when the mother went to the counter to order at a McDonald’s in Perth, Australia. “I don’t know how it happened but when my husband next looks at her, she’s sucking on a black condom,” Wendy explained.”I am really angry and sickened… I haven’t slept. I have been feeling overwhelmingly guilty for taking her there in the first place.” She said the condom looked used, but she could not see any packaging for it. After the incident, the parents went to speak to a local doctor, who told them to go back to the restaurant to get the condom for testing–But according to Wendy, the McDonald’s staff refused to give her the condom. A McDonald’s spokesperson said that the restaurant was investigating the incident and they believed an employee did actually take the condom to the hospital. “We are very sorry that the incident occurred, and take situations like this seriously,” they told WAtoday. “Cleanliness and safety are our top priorities and we ensure the shift manager on duty conducts what we refer to as a travel path every 30 minutes…the shift manager walk through and check all areas of the restaurant.”
