Black Entrepreneur Teaches Youth About Business Ownership Through Board Game

A Black inventor is aiming to teach youth the fundamentals of entrepreneurship through the creation of a board game. According to Black News , Elliott Eddie created The Entrepreneur Game as an educational tool that encompasses information about running a business. Black inventor creates game to help both children and adults learn to start a business. https://t.co/kpeOInKeNy — EverythingUnderground (@Evun_News) April 16, 2019 Eddie is a serial entrepreneur who owns five businesses and has always been passionate about teaching adults and youth the importance of business ownership; specifically individuals who are from underserved communities and underrepresented groups. He came up with the concept for a board game after noticing the lack of lessons surrounding entrepreneurship within school curriculums. In September, he created a crowdfunding campaign for the creation of The Entrepreneur Game and raised nearly three times more than his campaign goal from supporters across the globe. The game—which was designed for children 12 and older—takes players on an entrepreneurial journey. You start off as the CEO of your own company and throughout the game you go through stages of budgeting, marketing, investing, and negotiating. The goal is to evade going bankrupt. The winner of the game is the individual who has the most assets. “We may learn a few things in school, but one of the subjects it’s unlikely that we’ve been taught is entrepreneurship: how to create and build successful businesses of our own. Many of our schools barely teach our children the skills they need to survive,” Eddie said in a statement. “We owe it to our children and all of our futures to make sure they know that they are capable of creating a successful business. To make sure our children know that they can take their skills, talents and ideas to find a problem and solve it, to find a need and fill it, or to create a market and build it. Our children must grasp that among all of the things they can be now, and as they grow up, an entrepreneur is definitely within their grasp.” Major toy retailers are already eyeing the game to add to their shelves. Franklin’s honor was historic as it was the first time that a woman artist received a Special Citation in Pulitzer’s history. As a recipient of the award, she joins a list of influential music artists who have been given Pulitzer Prize Special Citations in the past including Duke Ellington , Bob Dylan , John Coltrane , and Rodgers & Hammerstein . Franklin’s loved ones are grateful that she has received this recognition and believes that it speaks volumes to how she has forever changed the landscape of music. “Aretha is blessed and highly favored even in death. She’s continued to receive multiple awards — she’s received almost every award imaginable and now to get the Pulitzer Prize, it’s just amazing,” her niece Sabrina Owens said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Sentinel . “Aretha continues to bless us with her music and just paving the way for women going forward. It’s thrilling. She would be so happy right now. She was just very gifted and talented, and the world is still recognizing that.” News about the honor comes weeks after the film Amazing Grace hit theaters. The documentary-style project captures Franklin and the Watts-based New Bethel Baptist Church choir in January 1972. “Amazing Grace is the heart and soul of Aretha Franklin,” Owens told Variety . “This film is authentic and is my aunt to her core. Our family couldn’t be more excited for audiences to experience the genius of her work and spirit through this film.” SEE ALSO: Aretha Franklin Timeline: Milestones And Achievements By The Queen Of Soul Detroit Museum Honors Aretha Franklin’s Legacy With New Exhibit [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3850824″ overlay=”true”]

Will You Be Watching? New Doc “Amazing Grace” Shows Aretha Franklin In New Light (Exclusive)

Source: Courtesy of NEON / Courtesy of NEON New Film “Amazing Grace” Charts Aretha Franklin’s Live Recording Of Gospel Album A new documentary about Aretha Franklin promises to show the Queen of Soul in a way many fans have never seen her. Gone are the fur coats, gowns and jewelry that typified the gospel and soul singer’s larger than life persona in recent years for the new film “Amazing Grace.” Instead, the then afro-sporting 29-year-old is stripped back and lets her voice do most of the talking. “This Aretha Franklin is a little bit different,” “Amazing Grace” producer Tirrell Whitley told BOSSIP. “She was just coming out of the 60s Black Power Movement, she’s wearing her afro….The experience of Aretha Franklin at the age of 29 at the peak of her power.” Franklin recorded the live performance in 1972 over two nights in a South Central L.A. church in front of an audience that included her father the Rev. C.L. Franklin, gospel greats Clara Ward and Mother Ward, the Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts. Source: Courtesy of NEON / Courtesy of NEON Her resulting album, “Amazing Grace,” went double platinum, won a Grammy, and went on to be the Frankin’s best selling album of her career, Whitley said. Because the footage was shot out of sync, it sat in a vault for almost 40 years before a film company was able to sync the footage with the audio. Although the movie does have imperfections like out of focus shots, Whitley said that it was Franklin who pulls everything together. “The great thing is that the film had excellence in the making and her voice carries it through,” he said, adding that Franklin gave the film her blessing before she passed away last year aged 76. Whitley said the film is ideal for sororities, churches and other groups to screen. “This film takes you to church and it ministers to you in a unique way,” he said. “Amazing Grace” is now in theaters nationwide.

F**k 12: Black Oregon County Employee Settles $100,000 Lawsuit Over “Blue Lives Matter” And Racial Hostility

Source: Justin Sullivan / Getty Oregon County Employee Settles $100,000 “Blue Lives Matter” Lawsuit That’s right, give that sista all her coins. Pay her like you owe her for all the time that you hoe’d her. According to NYDailyNews Karimah Guion-Pledgure will be awarded a $100,000 settlement from her employer, Multnomah County, after she sued their a$$es for creating a racially hostile and insensitive environment just to appease some anti-Black cop lovers. Back in September of 2017, a probation officer who works in her office put up a big “Blue Lives Matter” flag on the wall. Karimah complained because obviously the flag is meant to mock, demean, insult, and otherwise diminish the “Black Lives Matter” mantra that aims to hold police accountable for all the Black people they often eagerly kill. Karimah says she was harassed as her co-workers argued that there was nothing derogatory about the flag. In response, since the supervisors would not force the man to take the flag down, Karimah put up photos of all the Black people who have died unfairly at the hands of police officers. A co-worker immediately complained but Karimah refused to remove the photos since the white man was not made to take his flag down. When the sign policy was changed to require smaller signage, the “blue lives matter” folks all brought smaller flags, and then left signs on Karimah’s “equity wall” that read “thanks a lot” and “bi*ch”. Real classy. After going on leave for weeks, Karimah decided to file a $420,000 lawsuit and eventually settled for $100,000 this week. Oregon Live reports that no signs at allowed at all in the office now. Karimah won AND got paid to leave. Nothing like the smell of white tears in the morning.

Kardashian took to social media earlier this week to talk about all the work she’s been doing to become a lawyer and revealed she’s registered with the California State Bar. A lot of fans have praised Kim for her willingness to challenge herself for a good cause, while others constantly bring up her privilege to deny any hard work.
