Brian Chesky, the company’s CEO, announced on Saturday that Airbnb is “redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties,” which includes expanded manual screening for reservations that are deemed “high-risk.” Starting today, we are banning “party houses” and we are redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties and get rid of abusive host and guest conduct, including conduct that leads to the terrible events we saw in Orinda. Here is what we are doing: — Brian Chesky (@bchesky) November 2, 2019 An Airbnb spokesman didn’t offer many details on how these aforementioned efforts would be implemented–or what might flag a rental as a party house–saying that the company has initiated a 10-day review to develop new policies. Ben Breit told The LA Times that the rental listing where the shooting occurred had rules that barred parties, also adding that the listing and the person who rented it have both been removed from the site. According to police , over 100 people from surrounding areas visited the home in the East Bay suburb of Orinda on Thursday night. The gathering was heavily advertised on social media and officers ended up responding to a noise complaint at the residence, but when they arrived, they found a “highly chaotic scene” with multiple gunshot victims. The Times also reports that Airbnb has reached an agreement with the city of Los Angeles to create a system that will streamline enforcement of the city’s new regulations on their site. Under the system–which has yet to be created–new hosts won’t be able to publish listings without final approval from the city. On top of that, existing listings without the city’s required registration number will be removed.

Kris Jenner Finally Addresses Those O.J. Simpson Affair Rumors

We all know O.J. Simpson is almost definitely guilty of murdering two innocent people back in June of 1994. But is the former running back also guilty of a lesser unethical act? Did he also have an affair with Kris Jenner many decades ago and might he actually be the biological father of Khloe Kardashian ? This may seem like a wild rumor, but remember two things: Kris was tight with O.J.’s late ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson because Jenner’s ex-husband, Robert, was good friends with O.j., even serving on his legal team during his infamous murder trial. Khloe is taller than her sisters. These are really the only two facts that support this ongoing rumor of O.J. being Khloe’s dad —  but the speculation has run so rampant that Kris addressed such talk on Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. “June’s always depressing. It always reminds me of the anniversary of Nicole’s death,” Jenner told with mother, MJ Shannon, on air. “And it’s like, year after year, it becomes a little more faded.” Brown Simpson was killed — alongside Ron Goldman — on June 12, 1994. This summer marked the 25th anniversary of the tragedy; and Jenner explained last night that she was asked to sit down for an interview to  mark the awful milestone. She turned it down, however. “The last thing we want to do is keep talking about that side of it again,” Jenner said. “Just with [what] the public wants to know, and what they’re interested in, is not the same thing as what our memories are and where our hearts are.” Makes sense to us. Kris then delved into chatter of her having slept with O.J. and expressed total disdain over their existence. “It’s really kind of pathetic that when rumors get started the media gives it life and breath,” she lamented. “And on the anniversary of Nicole’s death, it’s so tasteless and disgusting.” Jenner could have ignored the unfounded gossip, of course, but chose to be proactive on the episode instead. Yup, she confirmed plans to sue the unnamed publication that printed the O.J. Simpson affair story. “It’s just lie after lie after lie after lie and there’s only so much that one human being can take,” Jenner said to Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. Couldn’t Kris just focus on “the good,” as suggested by Khloe and not waste any time or energy on this nonsense? No way, that would not make for a good episode storyline, Kris replied. Just kidding. She said this instead: “I think it’s just really unfair to Nicole’s family, my family for these stupid rumors to be flying around out there. It’s always right there, under the surface. “My team has decided to take legal action because, once and for all, I have to do something about it.” Watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 17 Episode 8 Online O.J. apparently felt the same way. He actually released a video that addressed this same rumor , and he allegedly ran into Jonathan Cheban, according to Kim. “He goes, ‘I know you’re best friends with the girls. Please tell them I say hi,'” the KKW Beauty boss claimed to Khloe and Scott Disick. “‘I’m so proud of them. I see everything that’s going on.'” In the end, Jenner was happy that Simpson set the record straight, declaring that the issue was “done and done” as far as she’s concerned. New Monument Will Honor New York City’s Historic Black Seneca Village Community

T he legacy of a historic Black community that once resided in the epicenter of New York City will be memorialized. According to the Smithsonian , a new monument will capture the history of Seneca Village. A planned monument announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office earlier this month is set to honor a prominent African-American family that once lived in the bustling community. https://t.co/e9lP5P9eNG — Smithsonian Magazine (@SmithsonianMag) October 30, 2019 The 19th-century village—which was cultivated in 1825—was one of the state’s first free Black communities. It spanned from West 83rd Street to 89th Street; which is now Central Park. In the 1850s the village had over 225 residents and African Americans made up two-thirds of the population. Many of the properties that were a part of the village were Black-owned. The creation of Central Park ultimately led to the erasure of the community and the displacement of its residents. Individuals living in Seneca Village were forced to leave in 1857. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio recently announced that a monument will be created to pay homage to a prominent family that resided in the community. The Lyons family owned and operated a boarding house for Black sailors. The home also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Mary and Albro Lyons were educators and their daughter Maritcha Remond Lyons was involved in social activism and co-founded the Woman’s Loyal Union of New York and Brooklyn. The $1.15 million memorial is being funded by several organizations including the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and the JPB Foundation. “The Lyons family story began more than a hundred years ago in a thriving Black community that was razed to build Central Park,” Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Vicki Been said in a statement . “We finally recognize their contribution to New York and American history with a monument.” Although many people are excited about the project, there has been some criticism because the monument may be placed on 106th Street; 20 blocks away from the village’s historic location. There is no word on when the project will be completed. According to Deadline , Trevor Noah will produce a film about 8-year-old Tani Adewumi ; a New York-based chess champion who has defied the odds. Under the guidance of his school’s chess coach Shawn Martinez , he learned how to play chess within a year and began participating in competitive matches. He went on to win the New York State Chess Championship title for the kindergarten through third-grade division. While in the spotlight for excelling at chess, a focus was put on Adewumi and his family’s living situation. His family fled from Africa to the U.S. to escape the Boko Haram extremist group two years ago and had been living in a homeless shelter. After their story received national attention, a GoFundMe page was created in an effort to help his family afford a permanent home. The Adewumi’s received over $200,000 from their fundraising campaign and moved into an apartment near Tani’s school. They also utilized the money to launch the Tanitoluwa Adewumi Foundation to help African immigrants in the U.S. who are facing financial hardships. “Anybody who is coming from Africa who is in the position we were in, we will help them. I want to release my blessing to others,” Adewumi’s father Kayode said in a statement . The film will be based on three books about the family that will be released under the W Publishing group in 2020. Noah will produce the project alongside Bob Teitel , George Tillman Jr. , Norman Aladjem , and Haroon Saleem . Paramount has acquired the project. Anyway, the cast and crew have gone through a lot of changes but this season, Eva, Cynthia, Nene, Porsha, Kandi and even Kenya are back for another round of drama. We knew that Kenya wouldn’t be gone for long, especially with the drama going on with her soon-to-be-ex husband, Marc Daily. Kenya isn’t the only one going through drama with her man. Porsha is also going through it. Porsha’s man Dennis was in #TheBlogs for allegedly cheating on Porsha while she was pregnant. The thing is, Tasha K, the blogger who started the rumor about one woman in particular named Sincerely, is a suspect source. She has a proven track record of literally making rumors up and it has been working for her because snippets of her vlog made it to the episode, but I digress. Anyway, Sincerely ran into Kandi, Cynthia and Eva at Old Lady Gang and told them she doesn’t even know Dennis. The girls take this information back to Porsha and she’s not even all that thrilled because this is just one clearance of many. Now, wasn’t Porsha the same one talking about how she wasn’t gonna as Dennis any questions, back when they first began dating, and proceeded to move at lightning speed? Anyway, she got her baby. Porsha and Kenya both got the babies they desperately wanted and that is the very thing that has brought them together. You already know they’ve had a contentious relationship since they began filming RHOA together, and of course, there was that time when Porsha literally dragged Kenya. All of that is in the past now and they have been connecting not just as new moms, but new moms with man drama. Kenya had a cute Barbie-themed party for Brooklyn just as a way for people to get to meet her. So, the crew came dressed up in various iterations of Barbie to show some love. Porsha and Kenya had a moment with their baby girls where they talked about how they are finally ready to just let it go, and motherhood has a lot to do with that decision. Yay motherhood! Welp. That didn't take long. On October 31, Jenelle Evans filed for divorce from David Eason , a development most celebrity gossip fans have been waiting to see take place for several months now. Evans provided a lengthy statement at the time of this decision. And now Eason has finally done the same — and, as you would expect, it was a very dumb thing that he said. But Arrive at It, She Did “I’ve mostly kept off social media the past few days because I’ve been focused on making some big life decisions,” Jenelle shared with fans on social media. “I’ve lived my life on camera since I was 17 years old. And a lot of it hasn’t been pretty. But it’s been my life. Like anyone else I want what’s best for my kids and I want to be happy…” 5. Okay. ‘Lady & The Tramp’ Brings Our Favorite Childhood Story To Life With Millennial Twists

Source: Disney / Disney Disney has been showing off all 2019 and bringing magic to real life with their live action flicks like The Lion King and Aladdin . And in about two weeks, you can add Lady and the Tramp to the list of live action Disney remakes that made you experience the bliss of your childhood imagination IRL. We got a chance to visit the Savannah, Georgia set of the Charlie Bean directed film last year, and hung out with the phenomenal and eclectic cast and crew — including three of the stars of the movie, Kiersey Clemons , Thomas Mann and Yvette Nicole Brown . The live action version of the classic film tells a similar story to the original Disney version: An upper-middle-class American cocker spaniel named Lady who meets a streetsmart, downtown stray Schnauzer called the Tramp, and the two embark on many romantic adventures including that iconic spaghetti smooch scene.” However, this time around, the cast is much more diverse in race and age. Thomas and Kiersey play a young couple with a little baby living a super adult life. Thomas told us about landing the role: I was super excited because I never been apart of a Disney before and I was huge fan of Lady and the Tramp as a kid. So obviously it was a no brainer. But I was like ‘Ugh, there’s probably gonna be a lot of guys trying out for this.’ And I also thought I was too young. But obviously that wasn’t the case. I only had to audition one time, then I got it after that. And Kiersey was cast just before me so it was amazing that they put us together. We’re both so young, living this adult life. He even had to grow a mustache for the role. As for Kiersey, she fell in love with the real stars of the film as soon as she began filming. I love the dogs! We cuddle a lot. I would love to take Tramp home, but all the dogs have homes I think Rose (the pup that plays Lady) and I bonded. She runs this set. I can tell when she’s not into it that day. She knows this is her movie. I have lots of respect for Rose. She also dished on how she made her character Darling Dear a little different from the 1955 version: I made her a little assertive. I’m using my imagination alot with like the times, and this fantasy world of it being Disney. And her being this young woman of color. She wears the pants in the relationship and it’s been fun. Fun Facts:  It took about sixteen weeks to train the pups for their roles. All the pups were rescues before being adopted after filming wrapped.  The city of Savannah was another major star of the movie, according to Yvette Nicole Brown: “There’s a certain magic to this city. I think Atlanta would’ve been too big for this movie. The production design looks exactly like 1910. It was very cool to go back in time for a few days.” Just in time for the holidays, Disney is giving us that little spark of joy, magic and wonder that we all need at this time. A Lil Positivity: Serena Williams’ Hubby Alexis Ohanian Is Taking The Fight For Paid Paternity Leave All The Way To Congress

Source: Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Alexis Ohanian Is Committed To Fighting For Family Leave After Alexis Ohanian started a paid parental leave policy for his employees at Reddit , he didn’t think he would become one of the most prominent paternal leave advocates in the United States. Since taking four months off from work after his daughter with Serena Williams was born back in 2017, Ohanian has become an unexpected leader in the fight for paid paternal leave. “We implemented a policy that I didn’t think I was going to be using anytime soon, but a few years later I found myself using and talking about [it] publicly.” The Reddit co-founder said in an interview with Business Insider . “Before I went on leave, I planned to use my entire four months and was casually asked about it on CNBC. I didn’t think anything of it other than, ‘Oh, here’s this great policy, and I should use it.’” Now, not only is Ohanian advocating for his beliefs on social media, but he’s taking the fight all the way to Congress. In October, Alexis ended up spending an entire week on Capitol Hill lobbying business leaders and lawmakers for a national family leave policy. “Because Olympia’s birth was such a complicated one and I watched everything that my wife went through and persevered through … I realized that we had so many advantages and yet this was still such a traumatic experience,” Ohanian recalled. “I couldn’t imagine anyone being put in [that situation] without the peace of mind knowing that they had paid leave.” Since the birth of his daughter, Alexis has been using his social platforms to celebrate fatherhood and the way it has transformed his outlook on life. He has become a serious advocate for paid paternity leave, recently partnering with Dove Men+Care to promote The Pledge for Paternity Leave: a program offering grants to working dads to help them care for their newborns full-time. Last month, Ohanian spent a week away from his venture capital firm to meet with Congressional leaders and discuss legislation for federally mandated paid leave. He believes a federal mandate for paid family leave is the best way to ensure all workers–especially those in low wage jobs and with disabilities–can take time off to be with their families. Fathers getting time off to spend with their little ones is so important, good on Alexis for fighting the good fight!

What The Hell??? Anti-Vax Mom Brags About Handing Out Lollipops Contaminated With Chickenpox For Halloween

The Australian woman–who identifies herself online as Sarah Walker RN–posted in the private Facebook group “Stop Mandatory Vaccination,” saying that her son contracted chickenpox and she planned to “help” other children by spreading the virus through candy. “So my beautiful son [redacted] has the chickenpox at the moment and we’ve both decided to help others with natural immunity this Halloween!” she wrote. “We have the packaging open and closing down pat and can’t wait to help others in our community.” What….the f***? Walker’s message ended up making it out of the anti-vax community and a screenshot and shared on Light for Riley , a page dedicated to protecting “babies & families from vaccine-preventable diseases” in honor of Riley Hughes, a baby boy who died from whooping cough. Though the mother claims to be a registered nurse at the “Royal Children’s Hospital, Brisbane” on her Facebook page, Queensland Health confirmed that she was never employed at any of its medical facilities. After getting negative responses to her chickenpox plan, Walker took to Facebook once again to double down on her plan, despite backlash online. “Dear internet trolls,” she wrote. “You think you’re right by judging me and my trying to report me and get me fired. I don’t care. The health and wellbeing of my baby is far more valuable than any job…You say I’m vile and gross like I have done something that hundreds of thousands of parents haven’t already done. How many times do you see children dropped off to day care or school when they’re clearly sick and contagious? Exactly!” She continued, “I’m offering life long immunity for the price of a couple of blisters and a few days off school.” Luckily, whether or not Walker actually went ahead with her weird scheme, Queensland Health told News.com.au that the risk of chickenpox transmission from such lollipops would be extremely low, since the virus does not survive long on surfaces. But, if she were to be found guilty of food tampering, or making false claims to do so, she could be facing serious prison time.
