DeSean Jackson, Snoop Dogg & More Reflect On Nipsey Hussle’s Legacy In New NFL Feature

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz The Marathon Continues… on the NFL Network. In association with the NFL’s ‘ Inspire Change ‘ initiative, the league dropped a new feature starring LA natives DeSean Jackson and Snoop Dogg. They both detail the cultural impact of the late Nipsey Hussle on his community. The new feature titled The L.A. Marathon features the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and the Long Beach rapper discussing Hussle’s legacy. Jackson, a Crenshaw native, recalls his first time meeting the “Victory Lap” rapper sometime between 1997, 1998 and their friendship. Jackson later links up with Uncle Snoop Dogg, and the “Gin & Juice” rapper shares the story of listening to Hussle’s music for the first time. During the reflective moment, a clip of the late rapper in his younger years is played. Jackson also links up with Neighborhood Nip’s bodyguard J Roc at basketball blessed with a mural of Nip. Jackson asks J Roc about the impact of his late friend in Los Angeles. “It’s because he never left. He lived and died where he came from, and he believed in everything. He believed in this community.” Jackson also stopped by all of the businesses Hussle owned talking with friends and associates. One person, in particular, the NFL chopped it up with the feature was David Gross who owner of the affordable co-working spacer Vector 90. Gross elaborated on how Nipsey helped usher in new businesses into the neighborhood. “For years, we didn’t have the resources to invest in our own communities. But as we have a generation or a couple generations that have found ways to make money, go back and put it to work and be the catalyst in your neighborhood, Nip lived that. He definitely saw it.” Jackson closes out the feature with some touching words about Hussle stating: “When I’m on the field and when I’m playing, I’m repping and I’m standing for what he talked about. That’s just off the strength of the love I got from him.” You can watch The L.A. Marathon feature below on YouTube. — Photo: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz

Beyoncé Dubs Blue Ivy “A Cultural Icon” In Trademark Battle

Source: Alberto E. Rodriguez / Getty Beyoncé doesn’t play, especially when it comes to ensuring that her children’s names aren’t being used for profit. In court documents posted by The Blast , Beyoncé has upped her claim to the name against Wendy Morales in the trademark battle, stating that her daughter Blue Ivy is a “cultural icon.” “Blue Ivy Carter is a cultural icon who has been described as a ‘mini style star’ and has been celebrated for her ‘fashion moments’ over the years,” the documents states. “Her life and activities are followed extensively by the media and the public.” The documents also point out that while Morales operates under the name Blue Ivy, Queen Bey is attempting to register her daughter’s full name, Blue Ivy Carter , for various business ventures linked to the young icon and that the notion that anyone would confuse the two is asinine. “[Claims] that consumers are likely to be confused between a boutique wedding event planning business and Blue Ivy Carter,” the documents continue. “The daughter of two of the most famous performers in the world is frivolous and should be refused in its entirety.” Beyoncé points out her trademark application is for “Blue Ivy Carter” NOT “Blue Ivy.” The trademark case has been an ongoing battle since Hip-Hop’s royal couple filed to trademark their daughter’s name in 2017, Morales claims that Beyonce and Jay-Z are not intending to actually use the name for business, but instead merely protecting their daughter’s name; while she has been in business utilizing the name before Blue was born. Beyoncé’s claim that Blue is a “cultural icon” comes after Blue earned her first Billboard 100 placement for “Brown Skin Girl,” which she sang with her mother on Beyoncé’s  The Lion King: The Gift album. Blue also attended The Lion King premiere with her mom and appeared in the music video for Beyoncé’s original song in the film, “Spirit.” The case is expected to go to trial.

HAUGHT OR NAUGHT: Are You A Brow Pomade, Brow Powder, Or Brow Pencil Type Of Girl? [POLL]

Continue reading here:

Source: Umehz Charles / EyeEm / Getty When it comes to the topic of shaping our eyebrows, the debate is an ongoing one throughout the beauty community. While some beauty mavens are interested in growing out their brows, some are conditioned to use brow pencils or powders to style their eyebrows during the growth process. Now more than ever, pomades are slowly replacing brow pencils as the popular choice. And it makes sense! Pomades are a great product to create bold brows that we see all over Instagram. Definition is key for many makeup lovers and pomades are a great alternative to execute that look. This formula also comes in handy to give brows a long-lasting hold for all day wear. However, if your a fan of the traditional soft brow look, the right pomade will deliver. Many makeup mavens think that pomades are only for those with sparse brows, but anyone can use this product. To perfect the look, dip an angled short brush into your pomade. Gently tap the brush against the back of your hand to remove excess product. Then, brush on the product starting at the center of your bottom brow for an outline. Follow up with an outline at the top of your brow starting just after your brow begins and connect with the bottom line. Fill in the brow with light strokes and use a spoolie brush to fade the product into the front. A front runner and fan favorite in the Hello Beautiful office is Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade ($18.00, sephora.com ). It’s long lasting and comes in 11 different shades. On the flip side, brow pencils also come in major clutch! You can create soft, natural looking brows with ease. And if you’re a sucker for a well placed arch, brow pencils will blow your mind. Simply start at the most sparse area of your brows and fill them in with short, feather like strokes. The key to this method is to be light-handed in application and drawing on the strokes in the direction of your hair growth towards the end of your brows. If you’re looking for an affordable brow pencil, try NYX Micro Brow Pencil ($12.00, nyxcosmetics.com ). This is great if you’re just starting with brows, the only downside is that the pencil tends to run out quickly. You also have beauty mavens who can’t resist a good brow powder. Providing a softer effect that other brow products, powders can be worn alone and can be used to set eyebrow pencils for a fuller finish. The application process is also as simple as can be. All you’ll need is an angled brush coasted with the powder formula. Dab on the back of the hand to remove excess product and sweep the brush in the direction of your hair growth with a light hand. Brush through with a spollie and voila! Our Fashion and Beauty Director, Danielle James, swears by Urban Decay Brow Box in Brunette Betty ($12.97, nordstromrack.com ), “It comes with a spoolie and an applicator and even though it’s a powder, it also has a white pomade to help shape or create a stronger brow. I love it!” It’s currently on sale for over 50% off so you might want to scoop this up ASAP. So, the question remains- are brow pomades easier to shape your brows? We would definitely say that pomades are the safest bet! Not only does this product provide all day wear, it provides the picture perfect finish we all know and love. Pencils are great for those who are just starting their makeup journey, but pomades are where it’s at! What say you? Are you a fan of brow pencils or are you attached to eyebrow pomades?
