The request was granted Monday, according to court documents. Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill has been granted a new hearing in front of a new court, a milestone his legal team has been pursuing for years. The news comes just two weeks after the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office filed an appeal with the Pennsylvania Superior Court asking for a new trial with a new judge. “We’re looking forward to the oral argument before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and to, hopefully, having Meek’s conviction vacated,” Mill’s attorney Jordan Siev said in a statement. “In light of the District Attorney’s recent filing, where he supports the granting of a new trial to Meek and the recusal of Judge Brinkley, we hope to have this injustice rectified once and for all.” D.A. Wants Meek Mill To Have A New Trial, In Front Of A New Judge The ongoing battle between Meek’s legal team, which has called for Judge Brinkley to recuse herself from the case, and continues to refuse. According to NBC 10 : At the center of Mill’s legal battle is former Philadelphia police officer Reginald Graham, who is among a group of officers on an internal “Do Not Call” to testify list kept by the district attorney’s office. He was the sole officer to testify when Mill, whose legal name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, was first arrested on gun and drug charges in 2007. Since then, Graham’s credibility has been called into question. Several other cases involving the police officer have already been overturned, yet Mill’s conviction remains in place. On the latest episode of Red Table Talk , the Smith-Pinkett ladies sat down with the queen of “leveling Up” herself to discuss transforming her “not so pleasant experiences” she went through that all led up to the pure bliss she’s in today. She revealed everything from her feelings of pain after ending her first engagement to the moment she realized that calmness meant that her now husband was the one. She even shared the highly anticipated “Ciara Prayer” that she prayed to bring a man like Russell into her life. Ciara’s positivity is admirable and after watching her open up to RTT ladies, we can’t help but to love her journey from emotional scars to “Beauty Marks” even more. So many gems were dropped during the ladies’ 25-minute chat at the red table, but here are a few key takeaways that we absolutely we love. Learn from All Your Mistakes and Experiences Although she never mentioned Future by name, Ciara opened up about the most painful aspect of her split from the rapper citing a combination of the breakup itself, the idea of being a single parent, the pressure from the public and the fact that none of it was an ideal situation for her or her son as the reasons why her break up was so hard. It was only after she began to learn from her experience that she was able to move forward and attain the happiness she desired. Her revelation that “time does not stop” and her fear of “wasting time” is what helped her start the healing process as she realized that it would be worse to stay in an unhealthy situation that wasn’t going to get any better. “Knowing what you don’t want is really important, because it creates clarity”, Ciara mentioned. From this experience, she was able to start making different decisions and learn the type of love she wanted for her and her son. Loving Yourself Is Huge Ciara recalled that the moment she realized it was time to end her relationship [with Future] and stand on her own was the same moment she made a commitment to love herself first. “I remember one time I was working out on the elliptical machine and I was just not sure about do I stay or what direction do I go? What’s the right thing to do? It’s easy to do this, but is the easy thing the right thing?” Ciara said. She explained how taking their son, Future, on vacation helped her gain confidence in herself to walk away from that situation. It was then that she committed to loving herself first because once she truly learned to love herself she was able to be loved the way she deserved and most importantly, she was able to give love the right way. “The Prayer” During the fishbowl question segment of the show, a fan got right to the point and asked Ciara, “what was the specific prayer you prayed to get Russell? Hook a sister up!” While blushing, Ciara revealed what she prayed for during that time, stating, “when you pray for things you should be very specific and very clear about what you want, to the point that you can taste it”. She continued, “you can feel it through your bones and body. It’s a very spiritual thing because you’re getting lost by praying and speaking and declaring what you want in your life”. Ciara went on to explain that she prayed that she would learn from the wisdom she gained, for discernment, for a God-fearing man and for someone that loved kids. As spotted on Complex Elliott Wilson and B-Dot hosted Jones for a second time on their Rap Radar podcast. While the two journalists have yet to release the episode in full, a teaser already has the internets buzzing about this appearance. The clip in question shows the hosts expressing their individual gratitude for the multiple magical moments Hov provided the crowd at his recent B-Sides concert at Webster Hall . Naturally, the topic of Cam’ron hitting the stage came up and come to find out Jim played a big hand in bringing the two former rivals together. “I got a call saying JAY about to do a special B-side concert,” Jones explained. “And I’m like ‘Cool, can I get some tickets? What’s up?’ I thought that was the call that he was pulling up. They like ‘Yo, he wants to perform Welcome to New York City.’” As the conversation progressed it dawned on Jim that he had to step up for the culture. “They asked me and now I’m like ‘Come on, don’t do this to me,’” he said. “Like, why y’all putting me under this one? Like I’m just listening and in my mind I’m like f*ck it. I’m just asking a question [to Cam]. He’s going to say ‘yeah’ or he’s going to say ‘no’. But in my mind I’m like…if you know Cam this could…cause some sh*t…or…might not even sweat it. Might just say some slick sh*t and leave it alone and all that sh*t. So…yeah, hopefully he like ‘yup.’” According to Capo the call was an easy one to make as Killa clearly has evolved. “Right after I got the call I called him, I said ‘Yo, JAY is doing the B-Side concert, right?’ [Cam] like ‘Yeah.’ [And I say] ‘He trying to perform Welcome to New York City’ and they wanted me to know if maybe you might just want to perform. Jet Life Creative Director CJ Wallis announced he was putting together footage for an upcoming documentary to honor the life of the late rapper. Deadline reports : Filmmaker and Jetlife Creative Director CJ Wallis announced today via Twitter that Margrette Bird Pictures, a film company he found with Mallory Kennedy, is working on a documentary about the late rapper Mac Miller. “So, over the next year I’m going to start collecting interviews & content to make the definitive @MacMiller documentary for his family, friends & fans,” he tweeted Monday morning. Wallis then encouraged everyone to share the post and tag anyone who would be good to interview for the docu. The outlet adds that Wallis, who has worked alongside Curren$y and Jet Life affiliates Wiz Khalifa among others, wanted to put out the film via New Orleans-based Margrette Bird Pictures at an upcoming later date. However, the family has asked Wallias and Margrette Bird Pictures to hold off on the project. UPDATE: We tweeted our intentions to begin developing a doc on Mac over the next year. Another defendant in the conspiracy case against the Brooklyn rapper has pleaded guilty. By the reports, this guy was “The Shooter.” Reports Complex : On Monday, Kintea “Kooda B” McKenzie, became the eighth defendant in the 6ix9ine racketeering case to plead guilty, according to court documents. The defendant appeared in Manhattan District Court for his alleged connection to the shooting of Chief Keef outside the W Hotel in Times Square. McKenzie pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Kooda allegedly accepted a $10,000 payment from 6ix9ine for carrying out the shooting in June 2018. In his guilty plea in January, 6ix9ine admitted to his role in the attack and named McKenzie as the shooter. However, in February, Kooda was granted bail despite the mounting evidence against him. Unlike many of the other defendants in the case, McKenzie is not suspected of being a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. Interestingly, despite being named the shooter, McKenzie was granted bail earlier this year. “Today, Kintea McKenzie admitted his responsibility for a brazen shooting in bustling Times Square,” U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said in a statement. “In coordination with Tekashi 6ix9ine and other Nine Trey gang members, McKenzie arranged to have another individual shoot at a rival gang member. We continue our daily work with our law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe and to vigorously investigate acts of violence committed by gang members.” Reportedly, the Feds pegged McKenzie to the scene via DNA evidence found on a discarded water bottle. L aw enforcement in Virginia Beach has been frantically searching for stories for why 40-year-old DeWayne Craddock shot and killed 12 people on Friday. Initial reporting claimed he was a disgruntled city employee but a new report indicated that theory has been debunked, leaving even more questions. See Also: Watch A Black Man Save His Life While A White Cop Has A Gun In His Face Craddock was reportedly not fired from his job after all. Instead, he resigned just hours before the shooting and PBS reported that his letter of resignation gave no indication that he was anger or upset. City Manager Dave Hansen also said Craddock was an employee “in good standing” and showed “satisfactory” job performance. It was not immediately clear why he resigned. However, the New York Times reported there were acts of violence from Craddock. He allegedly got into physical “scuffles” with other city workers, just a week before, which resulted in “a violent altercation on city grounds.” It’s not clear what the altercations were about. That said, there were at least three witnesses who said Craddock saw and locked eyes with them but opted against shooting them. Therefore, the shooting may not be as random as officials have said while police continue to look for a clear motive. The Washington Post reported that there was one person with whom Craddock “casual acquaintances” who was not shot. Craddock did shoot and kill two of his supervisors, one fatally. Craddock was described as a longtime city worker employed as an engineer with the Department of Public Utilities at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center for about 15 years. “ Victims were found on three floors of Building 2 and one victim was found shot in a car outside,” CBS News reported . Building 2 is where the Department of Public Utilities is located. The Virginia Beach city manager told the New York Times that Craddock was technically still employed when he started shooting and that he “had a security pass like all employees had and he was authorized to enter the building.” One of the victims, Ryan Keith Cox , was being praised as a hero and guardian angel . Cox was an account clerk who worked in the public utilities department for over 12 years. Christi Dewar, a survivor of the shooting says she may not be alive if it wasn’t for Cox. “If it wasn’t for him, there would have been several more people that had perished,” Cox said. Our condolences go out to everyone affected by this shooting. Mimi, for whatever reason, thought bringing Pooh would be a good idea but all Pooh did was rehash old drama by talking about how Karlie poo’d (no pun intended) on their sheets during their freaky threesome activities and other dumb stuff. Security shut down any attempts at physical fighting because they’re the real MVP’s. Let’s fast forward a bit to another day. Karlie takes the group to meet her family at their home but she can’t fully enjoy herself because she’s still disturbed about earlier. Karlie pulls Mimi aside and asks her what the heck she was thinking by bringing Pooh. Mimi regurgitates the same ol’ talk about wanting them to make amends, yatta yatta. Then things get awkward when Karlie’s relatives start prying. Karlie’s cousin asks why Joc is there but her fiance isn’t. Then she asks if Kendra is okay with the fact that Joc and Karlie are cool given their history. Obviously, Kendra is fake-okay with the situation but she’s definitely not here for this discussion with the cousin so she walks out so she can mind her temper and her business. And guess what? Pooh is still in Trinidad after all of this. The next day she links up separately with Rasheeda and Mimi because they want to get her side of the story. Rasheeda delivers the memo from Captain Obvious that they’re both being petty and ridiculous. So, Pooh agrees to try again. Meanwhile, Karlie is hanging out with Kendra and The Bam. Eventually, Mimi and Rasheeda join them, and we can assume Pooh is still on the bus or something because she doesn’t appear at first. Anyway, Mimi and Rasheeda pull Karlie aside to once again see if they can talk. Then Pooh finally appears and the millionth peace talk begins. At first, they do the back and forth thing again. Karlie wants Pooh to admit that Pooh lied, that she never slept with her husband, and they never had a threesome. Pooh remains firm in that it did happen. Then Karlie says something interesting. She says, “My dude doesn’t care what happened between us. When I met him I stopped f–king with you.” Say what now? But didn’t Karlie previously deny any and all relations with Pooh and/or her husband? Anyway, this convo surprisingly remains civil but nothing really gets resolved. They just move on…I guess. Then they separate again. Mimi and Rasheeda are back with Pooh. Rasheeda brings up how Karlie played them the recording she had of Hiriam saying they never did anything yatta yatta. But then Pooh plays a recording of that convo she had with Hiriam talking about how he lied because would never tell the truth about messing with Karlie because “OG’s don’t kiss and tell.” In other news, Scrapp links up with Stevie to express his grievances. Turns out, Stevie didn’t support Scrapp because he was dealing with his own federal case. Then Scrapp asks him about the rumor he slept with Tommie. So, what had happened was, according to Stevie, they were in a car together and she pulled out his beefcake. Her version as per last season’s reunion is that he flashed her. The one thing where they’re consistent is that they did not have sex. Stevie apologizes though because there was kind of a thing with Tommie. Scrapp accepts and they move on. Later on, Scrappy and Bambi go to dinner. It’s all good at first but then Scrappy says he wants to work on making another baby. Bambi says she isn’t interested in having another baby at the moment because she just had a baby, and needs a moment to recuperate, duh! But then she spills tea from a convo she had earlier with Kendra. Kendra told her that she doesn’t want kids with Joc. She is not trying to be babymama number five. Obviously, that news gets back to Joc and he’s hurt because he was planning to propose. It’s odd that he’s as taken aback as he is though. It’s not like he already has 8 kids with the oldest being about to turn 19 or anything. Anyway, bow he’s rethinking things with Kendra and it gets worse later on. Basically, Karlie takes the group to a party where Jock, who is drunk out of his mind, pulls up to Pooh, who is dancing provocatively, and pours water on her butt. Kendra happened to see that and she loses it. She pulls Joc to the side to see what’s up and he brings up the whole thing about her not wanting to have his baby. And we end on that note.
