Source: Judy Eddy/WENN.com / WENN A soul singer from the ’60s is angling for a big payday after bringing a lawsuit against Virginia producer Timbaland for sampling one of his tracks for a pair of songs. Ernie Hines filed a $2 million lawsuit against Timbaland, who used the original recording to create songs for Jay-Z and Ginuwine separately. The Blast reports : 81-year-old Ernie Hines filed a lawsuit, obtained by The Blast, against Jay-Z, Timbaland, Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Recordings, Universal Music Group and Sony Music. Hines, a soul musician from Jackson, Mississippi, says he’s the co-author and composer of the 1969 song, “Help Me,” which was sampled on both Jay-Z’s “Paper Chase” from the Hard Knock Life album, and Ginuwine’s 1999 song, “Toe 2 Toe.” Timbaland produced both tracks, and the document notes that “Toe 2 Toe” has sold over “2 million copies.” Hines’ attorney, Christopher Brown, writes that his client is a “senior citizen, does not listen to rap music and was unaware” that the songs contained his music and composition. Allison Williams took audiences by storm with her performance as Rose in Jordan Peele ‘s hit movie Get Out, a movie about white people transplanting their brains into the body of talented Black people. Now in her latest movie The Perfection , which hits Netflix on May 24th 2019, she’s back at it again, this time as Charlotte a former music prodigy who gave up her dreams at becoming the best to take care of her sick mother. She hatches a sinister plan when she discovers Lizzie has taken her place as the top star in the music world. The trailer for this movie prompted one Twitter user to ask Allison Williams how many Black people is she going to kill in her movies? So being that I had the chance to sit down with Allison, and Logan Browning who plays Lizzie I decided to let her know what people were saying about her. Allison replied, “Yes, we knew when the trailer came out that that would be the reaction. I knew that was going to happen but that’s ok. It’s ok if you go into the movie thinking that.” Allison also opened up about Black men’s reaction to her after seeing Get Out and she said she ends up coming across a lot of people who ask for a picture with her while she is holding a set of keys. She does mention that she’s lucky that people can separate her from the character but it just takes a minute for them to loosen up. The ladies also opened up about how the script was a page-turner with Logan saying she couldn’t put it down, while addressing how the movie is multiple genres in one film. Along with that came some visual blunders that couldn’t be missed. Take the finale last night, where two bottles of King’s Landing Spring Water found underneath the chairs of the Seven Kingdoms officials. Attentive fans that discovered the infamous coffee cup in the fourth episode of the show saw a water bottle at Samwell Tarly’s feet, which can be found at the 46-minute mark. Many of the team’s 2.8 million Twitter followers learned that the Rocket’s official twitter account was suspended on Monday along with several college football teams due to copyright issues. “Our Twitter account has been temporarily suspended due to a few prior social media posts with copyrighted music,” the Rockets said in a statement. “We are working to correct the issue now.” Joining the Rockets in the Twitter takedown were the Iowa State football account, the Iowa football and gymnastics account, the Auburn football account and Rutgers football. This isn’t the first time big name Twitter accounts were taken down over music copyright issues. The University of Texas’ account was temporarily suspended in 2018 but was restored later on the same day it was initially suspended. Back in 2015 during the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the team dismissed their digital communications manager after he sent a tweet to the Dallas Mavericks account from the Rockets official account saying, “Shhhhh. Just close your eyes. It will all be over soon.” with an emoji of a pistol pointed at a horse’s head. In a new episode of her wildly popular Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk , the Girls Trip star discussed the topic with her mother, Adrienne Bamford Norris and her daughter, Willow . “Oh, Jesus,” Jada told Willow after the Smith daughter revealed she enjoyed “artsy” porn. “If I was still on my porn game, I’d be able to show you some good porn, ‘cause back in the day, I had a little porn addiction.” Jada’s time watching porn was well before her marriage to Will Smith in December of 1997. “I wasn’t in a relationship when I had a porn addiction, believe it or not.” Willow admitted to her mother that she had first discovered porn when she was only 11 years old, while scrolling through her Tumblr account. “I saw some hardcore stuff,” she remembered, adding, “I was profoundly disturbed. Because I had you and daddy to actually, like, have real conversations with, that stuff didn’t really affect me. I had a connection with people that I could talk to about it.” The title of the episode, “Does Porn Ruin Relationships” prompted the three women to open up about their histories with pornography, shocking Willow’s grandmother who had zero clue that both Willow and Jada were so knowledgable about the subject. In Jada’s case, the Set It Off actress revealed that she had an “unhealthy” relationship with porn, preferring to read illicit magazines and watch pornographic videos. “I actually feel like I was using ‘addiction’ a little lightly. I had an unhealthy relationship to porn at one point in my life when I was trying to practice abstinence. Source: Pool / Getty As the case builds against Eric Holder , the man accused of shooting and killing California rapper Nipsey Hussle , it has come out that he may have had a fight with a neighbor prior to the incident. Two women claim Holder allegedly pistol-whipped a man over a botched drug deal. TMZ reports : The L.A. County DA’s Office got the account from 2 women who say a male friend told them he was attacked at his apartment by murder suspect Eric Holder … just an hour before Nipsey’s murder. According to the statements … Holder lived in the same building as the guy and they sometimes hung out and smoked pot. The guy’s story goes like this — Holder showed up at his place around 2 PM on March 31, and he was pissed. He accused the neighbor of selling him weed that was laced with some other drug. They went into the hallway to talk, and according to the statements … Holder was “breathing very heavily and appeared very excited and very agitated.” When Holder got more hostile, the neighbor tried to return to his apartment but was allegedly pistol-whipped in the back of the head. Basically, she’s on Joc and Karlie’s radio show and reiterates that she was using makeup, and had no plans to actually bleach her skin. She was just trying to make a point and she did. She got lots of attention from it — so much so that she has gotten more gigs. N ot only will she be the first woman from Jamaica to perform in the Gambia (her words, not mine) but she also got an invite to go to Trinidad for Machel Mondays, and she wants the rest of the crew to come with her. Karlie Redd is Trini so she’s extra excited. However, Joc isn’t really trying to go to Trinidad because Karlie will be there, and you remember all the drama that happened at the cabin with Karlie and his girlfriend, Kendra. Let’s fast forward a bit. Che Mack thinks her man is cheating. Surprise, surprise. She goes to Shekinah’s house and tells her that she found a box of condoms, with some missing, in Made Man’s personal belongings. They don’t use condoms so that’s the dead give away. Now she’s all upset because she put her career on hold for him, yatta yatta, and this isn’t the first time “Made Man had loyalty issues.” Now we’re at Sierra’s salon. Shekinah, Sierra, Mimi, and Tokyo Vanity have gathered and Shekinah tells all Ch Mack’s business. Then Pooh comes in and they’re all looking like: They don’t like Pooh because she caused drama between BK and Sierra by telling Karlie Redd that BK tried to kick it to her while he was with Sierra. Pooh says she’s there to “clear her name and apologize,” but come on, we know what show this is. Anyway, Pooh said that never happened and that Karlie is lying. Sierra thinks Pooh is the new liar in town and this doesn’t go well at all. Sierra tells Pooh to get tf out of her shop. Then Tokyo Vanity charges behind her as she leaves and tosses a lamp. Security caught that though. You know they’re pros at handling flying objects, hands, feet, etc. They also caught the wild Tokyo Vanity before she charged outside and made contact. Rasheeda and Kirk are back still trying to get us to care. Basically, Kirk’s daughter, Kelsie, has been the middle person between them, Kannon and Jasmine. Kirk told Rasheeda that he would no longer be in direct contact with Jasmine so it has been Kelsie. She loves helping her fam but she’s tired of being the middle person. This is still pending. Meanwhile, Che Mack is packing up her stuff and leaving her home while Tokyo is recording busy recording with Made Man (they’ve been recording before this drama). Then Shekinah pulls up to the studio and interrupts their session to go in on Made Man. She shows him the rubbers Che Mack presented to her and demands answers. Made Man says he doesn’t know what she’s talking about and he doesn’t know where the condoms came from. Then he tells her it’s none of her business and he needs to talk to Che Mack. Shekinah drops the bomb that Che is moving out and he looks flabbergasted. Later on, Poo meets up with Mimi to tell her that she feels bad for her shenanigans…again. Mimi gets the dimly lit idea to invite Pooh to Trinidad, but only if she can make things right with Karlie and everyone else. When Pooh gets home, later on, she tells her hubby Hiriam Hicks that she feels bad for her behavior. Then Hiriam says that Karlie called him crying and saying she didn’t do any of the nasty thangs that Pooh and now Hiriam alleges that the three of them did. Then he said Karlie swore on her daughter that this never happened. What Hiriam doesn’t know is that Karlie recorded this conversation and claims she has Hiriam backing her up that this didn’t happen. But the thing is, the recording sounds shady. You do hear him saying no, but it sounds more like he’s trying to comfort her, not back up her claims. We’ll be hearing more of this later. Anyway, Pooh is pissed that Karlie hit him up behind her back and that she tried to get sympathy. Now Pooh isn’t sure she even wants to go to Trinidad but we all know she’s going to go. Plus, Hiriam tells her to go on the trip and try to enjoy herself. Next, Sierra calls a meeting with Akbar V, Spice and Tokyo Vanity in an attempt to broker a peace talk. Let’s cut to the chase, this doesn’t go well at all. It gets especially nasty when Akbar V mocks Spice’s accent which was totally uncalled for. This ends with Spice trying to lunge at her over a table. Security shut that down but Akbar V isn’t making a good impression, at all. She gotta go. The Trinidad drama goes down next week. The streaming app is teaming up with Queen Latifah and Will Smith for a hip-hop infused remake of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the musical film will tell the love story of a Brooklyn waitress and an up-and-coming musician from a wealthy family whose different upbringings will take a toll on their romance. Smith will serve as executive producer along with James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett. while the Queen will be the flick’s producer. Yes, you read that right! Morehouse College, an all male, historically Black university, held their commencement services for their class of 2019 today. Their speaker this year was Robert F. Smith. Smith is a Billionaire (with a B) technology investor and philanthropist. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners. In 2018, Smith was recognized by Forbes as the wealthiest African American, beating out Oprah for the title. Smith pledged $1.5 million dollars to the school but decided to raise the stakes for commencement. After receiving an honorary doctoral degree from Morehouse during the ceremony, Robert F. Smith pledged that his family will create a grant to clear the outstanding student loan debt for EVERY graduate in the class of 2019. The estimated total is about $40 MILLION dollars!
