Source: Courtesy of @photosbynae FOX’s hit series Star, created by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy , returned to television with its midseason premiere this week. Starring Queen Latifah , Ryan Destiny , Brandy Norwood , Jude Demorest and Brittany O’Grady, the show follows the pitfalls of three up-and-coming artists as they attempt to navigate the music business. Just before her show hit small screens all over the nation, Ryan Destiny stopped by our offices and we chatted all about how life has changed for the Star actress since she booked the gig nearly five years ago. Having been honored at this year’s International Women of Power event, we also talked professional women of today, what they need in a partner, and more. The talented (and grounded) 24-year-old hit the nail right on the head. I just knew that a lot of things were going to change in my life and I was kind of preparing for it,” Ryan tells GlobalGrind. “Regardless of what it is, just be ready for whatever your life is about to turn into—good or bad,” she told herself when she booked the gig. “And there’s been a lot of good things and there’s been a lot of bad things to happen, but regardless, I’ve grown a lot as a person, as an actress, as a singer. There’s just a lot of great things that I feel like I’ve taken from the show,” she said of life after committing to Star . She also tells us that her favorite part of playing Alex Crane is she gets to do the three things she loves in one project—sing, act, and dance. “I always say that’s the coolest thing to me.” View this post on Instagram A bomb way to start celebrate #internationalwomensday. Yet, She Was Arrested for being distraught pic.twitter.com/xQ2vvDZZsW — Brother Tyrone X (@tyrone345345) March 13, 2019 According to the arresting officers, Loving was “acting belligerent and would not obey commands.” Police said Loving was “upset, very irate and uncooperative.” Loving told a different story. “ I expected them to come, get our statement, you know, go get his statement, get his gun, arrest him, you know, for threatening us, you know, and, I don’t know, it completely went the opposite way,” she explained. “This is where, when I was on the ground, when he put me on the ground, the way he had me positioned, my arm was on the ground and he just ripped my arm from up under me, which made it scrape against the concrete,” she added. Juan Perez of the MDPD took to Twitter to respond to the viral video of Loving being thrown on the ground. I am aware of the concerning video circulating on social media involving our department. I find the actions depicted on the video deeply troubling and in no way reflective of our core values of integrity, respect, service, and fairness… — Juan Perez (@JPerezMDPD) March 14, 2019 Perez confirmed this matter is currently being investigated. “An investigation into the entire incident is currently ongoing and upon its conclusion, I will hold those that violated any of our policies and/or procedures accountable for their actions or lack thereof,” he wrote on Twitter. Loving’s arrest continues to highlight racial injustices and tension with police. Obviously there’s a huge between White and Black people when cops are involved. We hope Loving gets justice for the blatant disrespect against her Black body. Rich White Struggle Rapper Defends Parents In College Admissions Scandal

Continued here:

Source: jayk7 / Getty Gregory and Marcia Abbott landed in the news this week after an explosive scandal broke open that the family paid thousands of dollars to get their daughter into college. Their son, Malcolm, who apparently is a rapper, defended his parents all while, you guessed it, smoking a blunt. New York Post reports : Their “rapper” son, Malcolm, popped out of the family’s Fifth Avenue building to smoke a giant blunt — while defending his parents and bragging about his latest CD. “They’re blowing this whole thing out of proportion,” said Malcolm Abbott outside the home that overlooks the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “I believe everyone has a right to go to college, man.” In between drags, Malcolm, whose father is the founder of food and beverage distributor International Dispensing Corp., admitted, “I didn’t go to college.” The toker, who sports a ponytail and raps under the name “Billa,” then shamelessly plugged his music. “Check out my CD, ‘Cheese and Crackers,’ ” he said of his 2018 five-track record that includes a song titled “If I Lost My Money.” The scandal has been connected to a series of emerging details that families paid William “Rick” Singer to bake the numbers to get these privileged pups into colleges and universities although their grades didn’t reflect their entry.
