The scholarships will be dispersed through a new scholars program which will be named after the prominent philanthropist and businessman. The rest of the donation was used to purchase land near the school’s Ray Charles Performing Arts Center for the development of a park. “Robert F. Smith’s donation of $1 million for student scholarships will have a profound impact on the lives of deserving young men who have the desire to attend Morehouse College, but lack the resources,” Morehouse President David A. Thomas said in a statement released by the college. “We appreciate his generosity and his investment in a generation of students who will follow in his footsteps as global leaders and entrepreneurs.” Smith’s business acumen has made him a power player in the realm of entrepreneurship. His software and technology investment company Vista Equity Partners had $43 billion worth of capital commitments and owned over 50 software enterprises as of 2018. Using his resources to give back is nothing new for Smith. He is the National Museum of African American History and Culture’s largest private donor. “This museum says that we African Americans are at the center of it all. And now there is a creative and elegant building that is not just a temple, but is alive,” he said in an interview with the Washington Post about his donation. “This is a way of preserving our history for generations and ensuring that the stories of our families continue to be told, generation after generation.” SEE ALSO: Howard University Alumnus Donates $250,000 For New Business Lab And Scholarships Howard University Tops List For Black Medical School Applicants [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3844065″ overlay=”true”]

Gina Rodriguez Tells On Herself & Cardi B Strikes Back: This Week’s Winners & Losers

Go here to see the original:

Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty Per usual, conservatives had to get collected, and the non-Blacks had to have several seats this week. Check out our winner for the week below, then hit the next page for the tear-filled L. Winner Cardi B  Aaah, when Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar talks politics, it’s like music to the ears. Of course, I’m talking about Cardi B giving her commentary on the government shutdown and how trash it is. She initially gave her thoughts on Instagram last week saying, “Our country is in a hell hole right now, all for a fu**ing wall, and we really need to take this serious.” She continued, “I really feel bad for these people that gotta go to fu**ing work to not get motherfu**ing paid.” Literally are deepest, truest thoughts in symphonic sounds. Peep her whole spiel below.   Thanks for speaking up Cardi. Oh wait… What’s that? Ignant alabaster representative Tomi Lahren had something to say about Cardi’s politics? Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats. HA! Keep it up, guys! #MAGA2020 — Tomi Lahren (@TomiLahren) January 17, 2019   Cardi had a word for that. Leave me alone I will dog walk you . https://t.co/FjqIzpUbvp — iamcardib (@iamcardib) January 20, 2019   Hold up… Another conservative minion, Stephanie Hamill , tried to come for Cardi by shaming her a$$-shaking in the “Twerk” music video? In the Era of #meToo how exactly does this empower women? Leftists, @iamcardib , feel free to chime in. THX .. pic.twitter.com/59fyDxrYAz — Stephanie Hamill (@STEPHMHAMILL) January 21, 2019 Belcalis also had a word for that, which read like Mozart No. 5. It says to women that I can wear and not wear what ever I want. do w.e I want and that NO still means NO. So Stephanie chime in..If I twerk and be half naked does that mean I deserve to get raped and molested ? I want to know what a conservative woman like you thinks https://t.co/8UBQQzO6jK — iamcardib (@iamcardib) January 22, 2019 Cardi ended her public dragging of the conservatives with a final word that, quite honestly, resembled a lush four-part harmony. All these conservatives been harassing me and telling me the most disgusting things these past few days.Listen I’m not telling ya to turn liberal all I’m saying is to admit that your president is fuckin up this country right now! Liberal or conservative we ALL suffer as citizens. — iamcardib (@iamcardib) January 22, 2019   They tried the wrong Bronx girl.

Vanity Fair On Vibranium: Di Bleck Pentha Chadwick Boseman Covers Epic Hollywood Issue

Vanity Fair Finally Nails Their Hollywood Issue Cover We’ve been dragging Vanity Fair for YEARS over their lack of inclusion on the covers of their Hollywood Issue, so it’s only right we applaud them as they’ve really nailed it with this year’s cover stars — beginning with Chadwick Boseman who is smack dab on the front page, not tucked into the fold unlike so many black actors before him. Boseman shares the front cover with Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet, two of today’s most acclaimed young stars. The inside cover features Nicholas Hoult, ‘Roma’ breakout star Yalitza Aparicio, Rami Malek and the QUEEN herself Regina King… but the diversity continues with John David Washington, Tessa Thompson and Henry Golding joined by Elizabeth Debicki. Interestingly enough, the cover also mentions inside features like an oral history of the original Hollywood Issue — which did include Angela Bassett, and a celebration of Cicely Tyson by Viola Davis and Annie Leibovitz. So yeah. Vanity Fair you get KUDOS! Keep up the excellent work. John David Washington even acknowledges the power of his presence in the issue saying, “I realized it’s not about me,” says John David Washington—photographed here with Tessa Thompson—about being on the cover of V.F.’s Hollywood Issue. “It’s about somebody who looks like me in Kansas or North Carolina, Middle America or in the South, who sees a cover like this and will be inspired to change their environment.” Hit the flip for more great moments from the magazine
