Free Basketball Camp, Celebrity Game, band Battle and Concert! those where the highlights from the 11th Annual PAYDAY, or Community day put on by Positive American Youth at Atlanta Metropolitan College. This year not only dubbed over a decade of free events and community service, but also a first time PAYUSA or Positive American Youth, shared this marquee events stage with another organization. Campgiving foundation, brainchild of prominent Atlanta based musician K-camp’s Mother and family joined PAYUSA to add to the celebrity and excitement of the day. The day kicked off with a free basketball camp ran by Alexia Adams, Josh Powell 7 coach Greg of OMG training. kids got to brush up on their b-ball skills, heard valuable life lessons and were treated to gear and lunch courtesy of Hot 10.9’s Reec. Then the entertainment side kicked off with a celebrity basketball game between Reec 7 K-camp. Both squads were infused with local stars, former NBA players, and national brands. Halftime was loaded with flips and dance moves courtesy of Flip City South and a tribute to fallen artist Young Greatness, that included a memorial token presentation to his Mother and son. The game concluded with a band Battle presented by Band Room Nation, an organization dedicated to introducing and helping youth get involved with live instrumentation and mentoring. The day simmered off with a free concert that included K-Camp hitting the floor to perform some of his mega hits.
Source: Mihajlo Maricic / EyeEm / Getty Florida Father Has To Shoot Son To Save Other Son A father from Florida was forced to make an absolutely heartbreaking decision on Sunday when he shot and killed his older son in an effort to prevent him from hurting his younger son during a dispute over a game of pool, Martin County Sheriff’s Office said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cops were called to the Stuart home a little before 6 a.m. when Marie Maloney said her older son was acting “irrational,” Sheriff William Snyder reported about the incident in a news conference. A few minutes later, the woman called again to say that her husband shot her son. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I don’t know if there is a way I could accurately describe the look on his face,” Snyder said of father, John Maloney. “I am not sure what the dad could have done.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Witnesses say that 30-year-old Joseph Maloney was acting “irrational” for about eight hours that day. Detectives confirm that Joseph and his 26-year-old brother James had been drinking alcohol all night prior to the fight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The physical altercation began over a game of pool then escalated into the violent attack of one brother on another,” Snyder said. Maloney told police he “verbally intervened” at first, while triying to get Joseph off of James–but he could not, which caused him to attempt the physical route. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “At one point the parents heard their younger son pleading for his brother to stop choking him because he could not breathe,” Snyder recalled. “His brother continued to strangle his sibling with one arm while holding a knife over him with his other hand.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once it was obvious that the family was unable to stop Joseph, Maloney ended up firing his gun and shooting Joseph several times, according to Snyder. Today, the living legend will celebrate his 48th birthday behind bars after he violated probation in his tax evasion case back in January. Testing positive for opiates, cocaine, and oxycodone at the time, a judge declared X a flight risk. In March, he was sentenced to one year in prison and an additional three years of supervised release . It saddens us to know that such an incredibly talented spirit is struggling in this way an we’re praying he’s able to turn it around when he gets out this time. The free game proved to be wildly popular with millions of people playing per month . However, despite the game’s goal of defending territory, the company behind the magic, Epic Games, might not have been prepared for its biggest threat yet… The dance world. Within the game, players can purchase moves for their character (also known as “emotes” ) using the Fortnite currency V- bucks (a.k.a. virtual bucks). According to Business Insider , players spend more than $200 million per month in exchange for V-bucks. So in other words, if you see a character doing “The Carlton Dance” on Fortnite , they probably paid for it. This didn’t sit too well with Carlton. Alfonso Ribeiro, who famously played Carlton Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is currently suing Fortnite for swiping his dance without him being compensated. According to TMZ , Alfonso’s attorney, David Hecht said, “It is widely recognized that Mr. Ribeiro’s likeness and intellectual property have been misappropriated by Epic Games in the most popular video game currently in the world, ‘Fortnite.’” He continued, “Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like “Fresh.” Yet Epic has failed to compensate or even ask permission from Mr. Ribeiro for the use of his likeness and iconic intellectual property.” Ribeiro is also suing 2K Games, the makers of NBA 2K , for taking his moves for their characters. Ironically, The Carlton Dance isn’t all the way original. Ribeiro admitted in a 2012 TMZ video that he “stole” the dance, and it’s a combination of Eddie Murphy ‘s famous “White Man Dance” and Courteney Cox’ s moves in the Bruce Springsteen video “Dancing In The Dark.” Ribeiro’s lawyer wasn’t about to let this get Fortnite off the hook, however. He told TMZ , “On numerous occasions, Mr. Ribeiro has commented on his inspiration for the dance. In the clip, Mr. Ribeiro used the word ‘stole’ in jest. He did not use the word ‘stole’ in the legal sense.” Ribeiro is not the only one coming for Fortnite ‘s bucks either. As soon as he filed his lawsuit, Backpack Kid, who created the mega-popular “Floss” dance, was revealed to be suing Fortnite . The game also used his dance and his mom filed a lawsuit on behalf of her 16-year-old son. Backpack Kid didn’t seem to be all-the-way angry about the situation, however. “I care about people watching my videos and enjoying them more than I care about money,” he told TMZ . In the midst of all these lawsuits, Backpack Kid’s mom and Ribeiro probably have one person in particular to thank for leading the movement….Brooklyn rapper 2 Milly. 2 Milly saw his now iconic “Milly Rock” dance in Fortnite a couple of months ago and it wasn’t even called the Milly Rock. It was called “Swipe It” and it was available for purchase for Fortnite characters. Social media was quick to call out the video game for appropriating the Milly Rock and soon, 2 Milly decided to take legal action against Epic Games. He secured the help of David Hecht (who’s repping all of the dancers so far), and told TMZ in a video, “they took my craft and they sold that. Whatever they made off that specific emote ‘Swipe It,’ that’s what I want.” With 2 Milly’s legal moves, the dance and hip hop world took notice. Dances that were included in Fortnite , including BlocBoy JB ‘s “Shoot” dance , were being called out for not benefiting the originators. Chance the Rapper took notice of the funky situation months ago, almost prophesying that creatives would come after Fortnite . “Fortnite should put the actual rap songs behind the dances that make so much money as Emotes,” Chance wrote in a tweet in July. “Black creatives created and popularized these dances but never monetized them. According to Bloomberg , the game is on track to make $2 billion this year, which will make Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney worth $5 billion to $8 billion. In the words of attorney David Hecht to TMZ , “Epic is enjoying record profits off of downloadable content in ‘Fortnite,’ yet has failed to pay or even ask permission to use artists’ intellectual property and likenesses over many of its popular emote dances.” He went on to say that his law firm is “proud to stand up for African-American creatives whose expression and likenesses have misappropriated.” It seems like Fortnite better get fortified. The dance world is coming for them.

Source: NBC / Getty The Tonight Show Is Officially Doing A Night In Puerto Rico Jimmy Fallon and his whole crew over at The Tonight Show are all set to hit the road to air a special episode from Puerto Rico on January 15. It will all go down during the 24-show run of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton on the island, which is going to raise relief funds in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The news was announced during an interview with Miranda for Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show . The January episode–on which Miranda will be a guest, of course–will highlight the nation’s efforts to rebuild after the hurricane that struck the island back in September. The episode is going to feature an exclusive performance of the musical’s new touring cast along with Miranda, who is reprising his lead role in the play Both Fallon and Miranda were ecstatic as they announced the plan on the program last night. Prior to this special performance of the play, Miranda also wrote the book, music and lyrics along with starring in the original, which won 11 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Price. This isn’t the first time The Tonight Show has taken their live show to the streets and performed in venues outside of the famous 30 Rock. Back in September, Fallon’s late-night show did a live episode from New York’s Central Park. They’ve also done numerous stints on the other side of the country in Los Angeles, California.

But one engineer and YouTube star figured out a way to get back at these thieves. Mike Rober spent 6 months rigging a package to explode with glitter and farts, catching these suspected thieves on camera in a video that has gone viral. Oh, were they in for a surprise. She joined the Quick Silva Show to talk about her life changing opportunity to be crowned Miss District Of Columbia. As beautiful as Cordelia is her life hasn’t always been picture perfect. Her platform reflected her real life situation, where she was in foster care until the age of 21. Cranshaw’s mother was incarcerated and her father was an alcoholic. As D.C. resident and the Founder of her non-profit “ARK” Cordelia takes pride in giving back to DMV community.
