Legacy: How Usher’s Music Brings Out The Inner Stripper In All Of Us

View post:

Source: CMF / Cincinnati Music Festival With over 20 years in the game, Usher ‘s music has been putting people in the mood for a  long time now. Current debates on who’s the king of R&B have had people jaded and in their feelings, but don’t get it twisted – Usher’s been making the bedroom bangers, quite possibly, since you were born. On Tuesday, Ursher dropped the music video for “Peace Sign” from his latest studio album A,  and its visuals are filled with sexy lighting, sensual camerawork and yes… Long poles in da bedroom.  Women in the video linger between intimacy and full-on sexy to the point where your inner stripper might be activated. Check out the chemistry for yourself below.   This isn’t the first time Usher’s brought out the sensuality in people. No matter your gender, you can’t tell me Usher hasn’t made you want to practice your stroke game with a well executed body role or calculated positioning of the hips. With each note, with each snare, Usher should be taking you deeper into the unexplored crevices of your body until you’re one big walking sex machine. Your partner will thank you later.   Many dancers already know what’s up thanks to their well executed Usher choreography. She’Meka Ann and her squad were prepped and ready when they tried out her steamy choreo for “Peace Sign.” Heels sold separately.   For those of you who have lovers & friends (with benefits of course), Nicole Kirkland will get you nice and right for your situation-ship thanks to her “Lovers and Friends” choreo.   Meanwhile, the Confessions era is always a proper time to dim the lights and put on a show for “the one.” Just take your cue from Will Adams a.k.a. WildaBeast who made good use of his choreography for “That’s What It’s Made For.”   You need a “Bad Girl,” Marissa Heart and her squad of dancers are here for you.   As for the climax, nothing can build the tension more than Usher’s classic bedroom song “Can You Handle It.” Choreographer Alexander Chung and his team brought their own classic sensuality to the slow simmer song.   So as you have witnessed, Usher is the king  of getting you open and moving…however you interpret it. Whether you need some moves for the stripper pole or some wavy energy for under the covers, various dancers have exemplified what Usher’s songs are all about. Even his complicated break-up songs will make you want to body roll on the nearest willing participant. Just peep CJ Salvador ‘s rigorous choreography for “Say What You Want.”   If you’ve got the moves, Usher has the tunes… And our sex lives are eternally grateful.

More specifically, police killings, by officers who are trained to protect themselves with more than just a gun and get off free when they commit crimes. When you compare the two extremes – a teen who was being forced into having sex and defended herself against someone she thought was trying to kill her versus police who have killed people who hadn’t caused a threat – it’s not hard to miss the lack of compassion for civilians.   SEE ALSO:  Kim Kardashian Calls On Her High-Powered Legal Team to Help Free Cyntoia Brown “It just continues to speak to the inhumanity of certain groups of people within our system,” he said. “And it almost desensitizes us to just say ‘this is just the way it is.’ It reminds us of not only the reason we vote, but how we spend our money, the stuff that we supports, because these laws, the people in the Supreme Court, the governors you elect, are the ones that created the Supreme Court that allows a 16-year-old girl to spend 51 years in prison before she’s eligible for parol for defending her own life when she was in the predicament that she was. Effect On Black People Is Overlooked In Trump’s Latest Effort To Punish Immigrants

See the article here:

T he overwhelming narrative surrounding immigration in the U.S. has long centered on Latinos, Hispanics and Central Americans. But in addition to those groups, immigrants from majority Black countries will also be left vulnerable to tougher immigration regulations that could be approved soon. A proposed rule from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), called “Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds,” was the Trump administration’s latest attempt to rig immigration policy in favor of English speakers whose earning power was near or on a par with that of American citizens. Monday was the end of a three-month period accepting “public comments” which DHS was expected to use to help reach its final decision on the rule. 'You could either feed your kids or stay in America but you can't do both.' — This new Trump rule targets immigrants legally in the U.S. The Trump admin's comment period on ‘public charge’ ends this Monday, Dec 10. You can submit a comment here: https://t.co/5TiJONYrfw pic.twitter.com/S91dmZVg83 — NowThis (@nowthisnews) December 8, 2018 According to the UndocuBlack Network , a nonprofit organization advocating for Black immigrants , the new rule would fall “in line with America’s racist history of preventing Black, Brown and Indigenous people from accessing resources and basic needs.” READ MORE: Diversity Visa Program Under Fire Helps Blacks Too Translated from legalese jargon, “public charge” is a “term used by U.S. immigration officials to refer to a person who is considered primarily dependent on the government for subsistence, as demonstrated by either receipt of public cash assistance for income maintenance or institutionalization for long-term care at government expense,” according to the National Immigration Law Center . “Where this consideration applies, an immigrant who is found to be ‘likely . . . to become a public charge’ may be denied admission to the U.S. or lawful permanent resident status.”) That means that Trump and his administration think immigrants entering the U.S. are intentionally looking to live off government benefits, such as “the receipt of public cash assistance for income maintenance or institutionalization for long-term care at government expense,” according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency. The Public Charge rule would restrict immigrant families from using essential public services including non-emergency Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare Part D, and housing assistance. Comment by 12/10 at  https://t.co/fVTNIj3lgZ pic.twitter.com/DCe0Ra35gp — CCDPH (@CookCoHealth) December 4, 2018 The problem with that logic was that “[u]ndocumented immigrants, including DACA holders, are ineligible to receive most federal public benefits, including means-tested benefits such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, sometimes referred to as food stamps), regular Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families,” according to the National Immigration Forum . As of Monday, “refugees, asylees, and amnestied illegal aliens are exempt from the public charge requirement,” according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform . However, “[u]ndocumented immigrants may be eligible for a handful of benefits that are deemed necessary to protect life or guarantee safety in dire situations, such as emergency Medicaid, access to treatment in hospital emergency rooms, or access to healthcare and nutrition programs under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).” And that’s what has Trump’s white nationalist administration so worried. “The regulation also favors immigrants who speak the English language and who have  earnings at or above 250 percent of the federal poverty level, which is a whopping  $63,000 for a family of four,” UndocuBlack Network wrote on its website. That was a near impossible standard to meet for immigrants, let alone many American citizens, according to a list of states’ median income for four-person families that was compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau. Commission majority submitted formal comment urging @DHSgov to reconsider its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding inadmissibility to U.S. on public charge grounds. Proposed rule communicates government animus against multiple marginalized communities https://t.co/SsyulJvdSQ pic.twitter.com/IUNbUWkpVo — USCCR (@USCCRgov) December 10, 2018 One positive sign for Black immigrants if the new rule goes into effect was that “compared with other immigrant groups, blacks are more likely to be U.S. citizens or to be proficient English speakers,” Pew Research Center found earlier this year. “Much of the recent growth in the foreign-born black population has been fueled by African migration,” Pew wrote, and “black immigrants from Africa are more likely than Americans overall to have a college degree or higher.” READ MORE:  Obama’s Legacy Of Hope For The Caribbean But the Caribbean remained the most likely point of origin for Black immigrants in the U.S., including Haiti, where more than 650,000 people living in the U.S. were from. They do, however, help pay for the public benefits American citizens receive, though, the Huffington Post reported last year. “In reality, immigrants typically pay far more in taxes than they receive in benefits. And that includes undocumented immigrants,” HuffPost wrote. “Not only do they simply not qualify for many benefits, but undocumented immigrants also tend to keep a low profile and may not seek benefits they possibly could legitimately receive as a result. However, every year millions of undocumented immigrants not only do pay taxes, they even file their tax returns.” A4: Public charge creates an anxious and unhealthy environment for young children. #NoToPublicCharge #ProtectFamilies pic.twitter.com/biVrYvBJ33 — APIAHF Says #NoToPublicCharge (@APIAHF) December 3, 2018 All of which makes it look like the Trump administration is trying to cut off its own nose just to spite its face and prove some null talking point to bolster the president’s white nationalist rhetoric while burying the actual truth. Or, as the UndocuBlack Network put it , “[a]nyone interested in challenging the war on poor people must fight for programs that support Black immigrants’ ability to access a better standard of living.” SEE ALSO: US Immigration Border Policy Is Literally Killing People What Tighter Border Enforcement Means For Black Immigrants [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3838134″ overlay=”true”]

‘LHHNYS9’ Recap: Remy Ma Moderates Yandy And Juju’s Peace Talk

See the article here:

Source: Santiago Felipe / Getty Love and Hip-Hop New York picks up with Yandy and Juju having a tense discussion about all the shadiness and gossiping going on between friends. Remember last week how people aka Yandy, Kimbella, and Jonathan felt that Juju was secretive? This is that again. Basically, Yandy feels some type of way because Juju never really actually told her anything about her breakup with Cam’ron. Like, how dare Juju be so heartbroken that she doesn’t want to talk about a painful thing! Anyway, Juju expresses that she doesn’t like being called secretive, and she won’t be talking about the break up any time soon because it still hurts and frankly, she doesn’t have to…just like Yandy didn’t tell them about the fact that she and Mendeecees planned to not sign their marriage certificate. Jaquae and Rich Dollaz meet up to talk artist biz. Basically, Jaquae is working with Nya Lee and wants Richie D to check her out. He doesn’t know that Rich Dollaz and Nya Lee hate each other. You may remember Nya Lee from a few seasons back. She was another stripper/rapper trying to make it big but she came on the show full of herself. She and Rich had a major falling out minutes after they met because Nya Lee felt it was the perfect time to express that she thought Rich Dollaz was corny. Obviously, that relationship died before it began. Jaquae says that Nya Lee has turned down a lot and gotten more focused since she became a mom, so he wants Rich to give her a chance. Rich agrees to think about it and then reveals that “he got this chick he has been working with” that’s a rapper, and he wants Jaquae to check her out.  We’re all thinking the same thing because we all know Rich makes Creep Squad moves. Jaquae asks what we all want to know, but according to Rich, it’s strictly business. Later on, we find out that Rich’s new artist is Sydney Star. Jaquae is obviously surprised, but he does admit that she’s talented after she raps for him and it does actually seem like Rich might really be about his business. For real, for real this time. Meanwhile, Jonathan gets together with Cyn, Kimbella, and Anais for a kiki. It starts off like a friends pow wow but then goes all the way left. First, Cyn dishes about her trip to Cabo with Joe. It was not as “sextacular” she wanted because Joe really just wanted to sleep. He’s still not understanding what she needs from him. Then we get to the hook of this meetup. Jonathan then tells Anais that she shouldn’t have ambushed Juju at his party. Then he tells Kimbella that he felt attacked by her because she brought Juju to the party in the first place, knowing dang well he didn’t invite her. You know Jonathan is extra so his delivery is intense and comes off as confrontational. Anais gets set off and starts yapping about how she was defending him (even though she really didn’t need to do that). Kimbella is over it too because Jonathan is still going on about how she called Juju secretive and none of this is productive. Anais and Kimbella both end up storming out. Overit dot com. Remy Ma attempts to bring Juju and Yandy together to hash their drama out. They talk. Juju says it’s hypocritical for Yandy to call her secretive given her marriage papers situation. Yandy thinks this is two different things but Remy Ma chimes in as the objective voice and says they’ve both been secretive about things and need to get over it already. They ramble on about stuff until Remy cuts them short, declaring that “it’s cheeseburger o’clock” so they have to go. That’s pregnant woman speak for, “I’m hungry and I ain’t got time to be doing this all day.” They laugh about it but we still don’t really know whether Juju and yandy move forward on good terms or not. Probably not. You know they’re petty af. Jaque actually got Rich Dollaz to show up for a Nya Lee performance. Nya still thinks Rich is messy but they attempt to hash out their differences maturely, and that’s when Sydney Star interrupts and all hell almost breaks loose. Nya Lee feels some type of way about Sydney Star existing, being a big personality, and generally posing a threat to her shine.  Nya Lee doesn’t bite her tongue so she says that Syndey better not think she’s going to steal her shine. They start going back and forth until Rich removes Syndey from the situation because he doesn’t want her arguing with Nya Lee, or anyone, really. The episode wraps with Juelz Santana taking the plea deal. He’s probably going to do 18 months in jail, but he doesn’t have full closure on that situation yet because the judge ultimately has the final say. That’s pending. He and Kimbella end up arguing because Juelz said he was headed in the right direction before this but Kimbella feels like he still hasn’t taken full accountability of the fact that drugs led him here. Then he brings up how she’s not perfect because she cheated (you know, the ole apple plus banana equals orange trick). They start arguing about who did and didn’t do what or support who, and even pretend like they’re actually going to break up after all these years of lowered expectations. Kimbella even delivers a dramatic, “Let’s end this now” for good measure. But we all know good and dang well that they’re getting married. They’ll probably get a wedding special out of the deal but we need more details about Juelz’s case first. Runner-ups: 6 People Who Can Host The Oscars Now That Kevin Hart Is Out

Read more:

Source: Jason LaVeris / Getty Kevin Hart ‘s problematic past caught up with him last week and it sparked a major debate on celebrity accountability. On Tuesday of last week, Hart announced that he was hosting the Oscars and everything was cool, calm and celebratory for a hot second. But then, the dreaded ghost of Twitter past came to snatch Kevin’s Oscar mic right from his hands. A Twitter user unearthed old homophobic tweets from Kevin dating back to 2011. One tweet said, “Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘Stop that’s gay.’” Kevin also used the F-word in multiple tweets with one saying, “u should ask the question like this, how many ‘gay’ men sweat when they wear dress shirts because real men don’t lmao p.s f*g” I wonder when Kevin Hart is gonna start deleting all his old tweets pic.twitter.com/ZbYG6SI3Xm — Benjamin Lee (@benfraserlee) December 5, 2018   Kevin Hart responded to his old tweets with an Instagram video and a comment that read “If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me. I’m almost 40 years old and I’m in love with the man that I am becoming. You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & YOU MATURE.” This post was not enough for the Academy, however, because according to Kevin, they called him demanding that he apologize for his old tweets or else they would drop him from his hosting gig. Kevin was not up for it. He posted another Instagram video saying, “I’ve addressed this several times…I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were, I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then.” He continued, “I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old when I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different space in my life. The same energy that went into finding those old tweets can be the same energy put into finding the response to the questions that have been asked years after years after years.” Since Kevin was dropped from his hosting gig, some major stars have come to his defense, including Snoop Dogg and Nick Cannon , who found  old homophobic tweets  from comedians Sarah Silverman and Amy Schumer . The whole incident posed the question… Is any comedian safe to host the Oscars? Most comedians are known for their edgy take on social and political subjects. However, their positions or language back in the day could have totally changed in today’s political climate. Even if they haven’t changed, most comedians wouldn’t dare say some of the things they’ve said in the past on Twitter. There is a safe way to pick the next Oscars host, however, now that Kevin is out… Aim for the most marginalized voice.  It’s as simple as that. In many instances, this will be a Black woman or a member of the Black LGBTQ community. Does this mean that person will have a completely clean slate. Not at all! But the likelihood of them having a problematic past will probably be slimmer if they’ve already felt the weight of multiple oppressions. Pulling from the most marginalized will also be a good start in leveling the entertainment playing field so that it’s not just filled with men and White people. With that being said, hit the next pages for some good options to replace Kevin Hart. And if they all have problematic histories, may the angels of accountability and forgiveness lead them in the right direction… Or we could just have Beyonce perform at the Oscars and call it a day. Whichever’s easiest.

Rest In Peace: ‘Power’ Cast Reacts As Beloved Crew Member Dies On Set

Source: Mike Pont / Getty The #PowerTV team is taking some time to mourn after one of their own suffered a fatal incident on set early Monday, December 10. Producers have reportedly stopped production out of respect for the family and crew.  Page Six reports: “The Starz drama Power  shut down production after a car crash at a Brooklyn shooting location killed a longtime crewmember early Monday. Filming for the show’s sixth season was postponed out of respect for the family of Pedro Jimenez , 63, and to allow cast and crew time to grieve, a Starz spokeswoman told The Post.” Jimenez was a parking production assistant who’d reportedly been working on the set since 2014. According to the site, he was killed when a coworker ran into him as he set up traffic cones for a shoot on Douglas Street in Cobble Hill. Members of the cast are speaking out as news of their team member’s death circulates. From Naturi Naughton : “Truly shocked and saddened! Losing one of our own really hit home today! Tomorrow is not promised y’all! Live fully today! My thoughts and prayers are with the Jimenez family. #speechless #prayersUP.” From Omari Hardwick : “I sit next to my family as I type this post of a day gone the worst. Started as a regular ole work day for everyone of us. Ironically for me the night prior saw me as part of the special CNN Heroes annual gala honoring local yet worldwide heroes. I found myself presenting to 1 of those heroes. And now, as the man who was given the challenge of quarterbacking this very formidable team into 6 successful seasons of play, I find myself presenting along with my colleagues & producers this tragic tragic news of one of our work family members losing his life on the job. Unless under a rock ….all of you who have rooted for me & this show…..have heard me pay homage to our crew over & over again. I was born a team player & will leave this earth as one. On this “just another work day,” we all were & are faced with the harshest of realities that a wife has lost her husband, children their father & friends….their beautiful hardworking GRACIOUS Pedro. As the QB of this show & as the face of the network, this has of course affected me. But as a person in communication & exchange of spirit as much as I was with good ole Pedro…I’m rocked.” From 50 Cent : “I just learned we lost Pedro Jimenez, a member of the Power production team early this morning. My prayers and condolences are with the entire Jimenez family. From Joseph Sikora : “Pedro Jimenez, a member of the POWER family, lost his life today. Thank you for always having a smile and bringing so much love with you to set. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.” From Lala Anthony : “Thank you Omari for these much needed words today. On behalf of myself and my Power family…prayers and love to our GRACIOUS Pedro and the Jimenez family; it’s a sad day. Love more. Live more. Laugh more.
