A Faux Bop: Best T.V. Show Songs That Aren’t Actually Real Releases

Follow this link:

Source: Malcolm Ali / Getty T.V. shows can birth some of the best music and if you’re an avid watcher, some of the tunes can get stuck in your head for years to come. I’m not just talking about catchy theme songs or closing credit music. I’m talking about the countless songs that characters sang within their T.V. world that weren’t real, but they were ridiculously catchy. It could’ve been a song from a music group within the show or a parody that ended up making you jam just as hard as real-life songs. Hit the next pages to find out which tracks had repeat-potential when hearing them for the first time. As a rubric, I decided to leave out songs that were released as singles outside of the show and songs that gained heavy promotion in the music market (sorry Empire soundtrack). But don’t worry, the songs that follow are sure to bring the nostalgia and hopefully, they’ll make it on a streaming site in the near future!

Inside Surrogacy And The Path To Achieving Motherhood

Go here to see the original:

Source: Kevin Tachman / Getty What was previously a very private, and in some cases unspoken, way to conceive has become one of the most talked about ways to become a mother. Surrogacy has been life-changing for many women whose path to become a mother was not as simple as getting pregnant on their own. This includes several high-profile celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Gabrielle Union , who have been open and honest about their journey to motherhood through the surrogacy process, however many still don’t seem to know exactly what having a surrogate actually means. If you look at the comments underneath photos of celebrities who have used a surrogate to expand their families, you’ll see a host of trolls commenters who ask very insensitive, rude and downright ignorant questions about how a child can belong to a mother who did not actually carry her. Although a quick Google search could easily give you all the answers you need on the subject, but, the Internet. In an effort to educate, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about the process that has helped many women around the world fulfill their dream of becoming a mother. First off, it’s important to know that there are two types of surrogacy, gestational and traditional. Traditional surrogacy uses natural insemination and the eggs of the surrogate mother to successfully conceive, this is the option most women choose who no longer have viable eggs to use. A traditional surrogate is the baby’s biological mother because it was her egg that was fertilized by the father’s sperm, however donor sperm can also be used. Gestational surrogacy is done through IVF (in vitro fertilization) or intrauterine insemination and the eggs and/or sperm are taken from both the intended parents, or from a donor in the cases where using the eggs and sperm of the intended parents is not a viable option. Source: Mike Coppola / Getty For example, Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West welcomed their daughter Chicago earlier this year via gestational surrogate and they used Kim’s eggs and Kanye’s sperm to place inside their surrogate. This means that the child is 100% biologically theirs and shares no DNA with their surrogate. As a result of the actual genetic ties to the child, gestational surrogacy has become more common than traditional surrogacy. About 750 babies are born each year using gestational surrogacy and the process is less complex legally in the U.S. since both parents have genetic ties. As the process of utilizing a surrogate grows, the numbers are increasing. According to a 2016 report, there are more than 35,000 families using surrogacy out of the 80 million people who are affected by infertility. Once you’ve decided that surrogacy is the right route for you to take to expand your family, you then need to know how to choose the surrogate. As WebMD reports , you need to make sure your surrogate meets these requirements: (1) Is at least 21 years old, (2) Has already given birth to at least one healthy baby so she understands firsthand the medical risks of pregnancy and childbirth and the emotional issues of bonding with a newborn, (3) Has passed a psychological screening by a mental health professional to uncover any issues with giving up the baby after birth and (4) Signs a contract about her role and responsibilities in the pregnancy, such as prenatal care and agreeing to give you the baby after birth. Earlier this week, Gabrielle Union announced that she and husband Dwayne Wade welcomed a baby girl via surrogate, but many fans were puzzled about why she was seen wearing a hospital gown and lying in a hospital bed if she had given birth. Well, that process is known as “skin-to-skin” contact and it involves a newborn being placed directly on top on the intended mother for an immediate bonding experience. Since the baby was inside someone else for 9 months, it’s crucial that once born, the baby immediately forms the initial bond with the intended parents. On her long-running reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians , Kim Kardashian West featured her surrogate in an episode and she discussed the importance of skin-to-skin contact with the whole family. Now, it’s easy to get totally wrapped up in bringing a new bundle of joy into the world, but you also need to be aware of the legal issues and other formal procedures. Surrogacy laws related to parentage vary depending on the state. In states where surrogacy is not supported, intended parents must go through the adoption process to gain legal custody of the child once it’s born. By contrast, states where surrogacy is legal, intended parents are asked to file a pre-birth order known as a “declaration of parentage”. This document allows the intended parents to take home the child after birth and be declared on paper as the legal parents. It’s also stressed that couples have lawyers in place to review all documents, contracts and agreements, to avoid any incidents that may occur. Finally, the cost should definitely be considered because it is not cheap. Surrogacy in the U.S. can cost anywhere between $100,000 to $250,000, depending on the history of the agency used and other unknown costs, such as high-risk pregnancies, bed rest compensation and neonatal care. These costs include fees for the surrogate, agency, laboratory, medicines and hospital bills. The road to motherhood is different for everyone and if you opt to use surrogacy as your method then you should never let the uninformed opinions of others ruin the process of becoming a mother. If you choose to share your journey that’s fine, but you also have the right to keep things private. Here’s hoping that as more people become educated on exactly what surrogacy is, the ignorant comments will fall by the wayside. If You Can’t Talk About Race, Interracial Relationships Are Not For You

View original post here:

Source: Praise 102.5 Atlanta / Praise 102.5 Atlanta Someone please cue up Girl for Michelle Williams because it might be her turn to evaluate her relationship. We’ve all seen the viral clips of Michelle and her fiance Chad Johnson talking through a recent disagreement that turned ugly when Chad got offended by a racial comment made by Michelle. The former Destiny’s Child singer informed her fiance that he doesn’t understand how Black people talk because he’s White. All I heard from her were facts, but Chad quipped with a low blow and questioned whether she’d taken her medication. If you haven’t see it, take a look: Watching the exchange brought me to one conclusion: If you can’t openly discuss race and racial inequality without getting defensive, then you have absolutely no business being in an interracial relationship. Being in an interracial relationship means that these topics will pop up from time to time. If you can’t handle those talks with sensitivity, compassion, maturity, and respect, then you are doing your partner a deep disservice. When it comes to interracial relationships, trying to avoid the issue of race feels a lot like not fully accepting your partner for who they are. Discussions about race cannot be met with closed ears and an unwillingness to hear your partner’s concerns about the consequences of living in brown skin. Similarly, it must also be acknowledged that moments where the ethnic partner is thoroughly enjoying their culture are not anti-White. Considering Michelle’s history of depression, it was an incredibly cheap shot to take. Chad back peddled at first when Michelle opened up about their latest fight. He swore that he’d never usually “go there” with her and swiftly attempted to deflect. Chad then spouted the Color Blind Coalition’s charter, stating that he does not care what color a person is as long as everyone’s feelings are respected. Finally, he tried to argue that she owed him an apology for hurting his feelings. Not once did he bother to apologize for his handling of the situation. As we saw, Michelle basically outed Chad’s shortcomings in that department. Here’s the thing: Chad wants to marry a Black woman. Black people often talk about racial politics because it affects so much of our lives. Whether we’re talking about discrimination at work, voter suppression, and even police brutality–or whether we’re celebrating the culture and reminiscing about aspects of our community–race plays a huge role in the lives of non-White people. It would be nearly impossible for us to be in a relationship without ever speaking on racial matters (good or bad) because it underscores much of our experience. For the non-ethnic partner to expect that a person of color always has to defer to their sense of comfort as a function of the relationship is incredibly selfish. It’s a way of using privilege against someone they claim to love, and it puts unreasonable conditions on the affections exchanged. In that situation, they’re not fit to be in an interracial relationship because the relationship is not equitable, and it’s likely to come at the expense of the brown person in the pairing. Personally, I could not imagine having to tiptoe around certain aspects of my life in my own relationship. I’m married to a White man, and at no time have I ever felt the need to tone down my Blackness. At no time, have I ever felt like I couldn’t share my thoughts on racially charged matters because my husband would take it the wrong way. He sits down with me and we can talk it out, and it’s comforting to know that I have a partner who does not shy away from that. When I want to revel in my culture, it’s not an issue for him because he can appreciate why that matters to me. I don’t have to explain it to him ad infinitum. If anything, he’s very supportive of those moments and encourages them for me. He loves me in my entirety. I sincerely wish the same for all Black girls in interracial relationships because someone who cannot navigate the reality of your experience as a woman of color is not fully invested in you. Netflix Has A Hip-Hop Competition Show On The Way With Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, & T.I.

Read the original:

Source: Christian Weber courtesy of GQ / Christian Weber courtesy of GQ Singing competition shows, like American Idol and The Voice , have bee around for decades–and they’ve supplied some of industry’s most successful talent throughout the years. Despite singers like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood being discovered on television and making a name for themselves, we haven’t gotten to see that same process happen within hip-hop….well, not yet at least. VH1 did take a stab at making a similar hip-hop competition show with  The-Dream , Rick Ross , and Lenny S. just last year, though it didn’t quite produce any long-lasting stars like we might have hoped. But if anyone can save the day, it’s Netflix–and they’re coming through to create a brand new hip-hop competition series titled Rhythm + Flow . The popular streaming service has landed an interesting trio of talent to judge for the show: Cardi B , Chance the Rapper , and T.I.   Rhythm + Flow is going to be a ten-part hip-hop talent search set to debut in 2019. This upcoming project has an impressive musical pedigree from the hosts alone,  but on top of the upfront talent, the show is also hailing from John Legend and his Get Lifted Film Co. Not only can we expect to see some new breakout talent on the series, but there’s bound to be some absolutely hilarious moments as well. Cardi B is obviously no stranger to reality television; her absolutely insane rise to fame makes a lot of us forget that it’s only been 2 years since she appeared on VH1’s  Love & Hip Hop: New York . Chance the Rapper has also been expanding his portfolio beyond just rapping recently, starring in 2018 horror-comedy  Slice  and hosting an episode of  Saturday Night Live . As for T.I., we all know that he is a reality fixture of his own–appearing in a variety of vehicles across the Viacom platforms, including his own series with his family T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle on VH1. Rhythm + Flow  comes to Netflix from executive producers John Legend, Jeff Gaspin, Jesse Collins, Nikki Boella, Jeff Pollack, Mike Jackson, and Ty Stiklorius. The series intends to find and foster undiscovered hip-hop talent across multiple cities. Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I. will serve as the three main judges, though additional artists and industry personalities will be announced in the run-up to the premiere. Is this new show something you can get behind, or are you totally over competition shows?
