Pooch Hall’s Reported DUI Arrest Sheds Light On Black People Facing Intoxication Charges

Read the original here:

P olice reportedly arrested another high-profile Black man for a DUI on Wednesday. Cops apprehended Pooch Hall , who starred on “The Game,” for driving under the influence of alcohol and felony child endangerment, according to TMZ . RELATED: Tiger Woods Re-Enters Rehab Following DUI Arrest Hall’s arrest highlights the arrest rates of Black people when it comes to DUI charges. The statistics — which are conflicting and scarce — are still alarming when it comes to these arrests. 'Ray Donovan' Actor Pooch Hall Arrested for DUI and Letting 2-Year-Old Drive https://t.co/YnCPyUlqMh — TMZ (@TMZ) October 4, 2018 As recently as 1973, the drunk-driving arrest rate for Black adults in the United States was nearly twice as high as that for whites, according to available data from the  National Institutes of Health . More recent FBI data in 2016 showed a higher DUI arrest for Black people as compared to other races except for whites. There were 108,881 reported DUI arrests of African Americans, according to the bureau. The data on drinking-related traffic accidents and alcohol-impaired driving seems to also be mixed. Some statistics did show an overrepresentation of Blacks when it comes to those events, indicating the group faces a greater risk of potential injury and fatalities. Hall, unlike many other Black drivers who may drive drunk, and his 2-year-old son didn’t lose their lives or sustain any injuries. The actor is, however, reportedly in major trouble after having allegedly let his toddler child try to drive his vehicle because he was intoxicated. Witnesses had called 911 after seeing the toddler trying to hold the steering wheel while sitting in Hall’s lap. Their car veered off the road and did hit a parked vehicle, but they weren’t hurt. The actor, who had a reported blood alcohol level of .25, which is more than 3 times the legal limit, was taken to jail. Police set his bail at $100,000. The star’s wife took custody of their son after the incident. Here’s What Millennials Think About Voting For A Black Candidate

Excerpt from:

M illennials, often thought to be less racist than earlier generations, have reservations about electing Black candidates. See Also: More White Millennials Are Not About The Democrat Life: Going To Sunken Place? There’s a gender and political divide among millennials when it comes to casting a ballot for qualified nonwhite candidates, a new BuzzFeed News and Maru/Blue survey, reported on Thursday, found. One out of three men (36 percent) said they would prefer a white political candidate if all else was equal. Just 11 percent of women survey shared that view. Republicans, at 42 percent, admitted that they would choose a white candidate over an equally qualified nonwhite candidate, as compared to 22 percent of Democrats who agreed with them. Pollsters surveyed 1,006 millennials, aged 22 to 37, online. The poll ran from Sept. 21 to 24. BuzzFeed News polled millennials about their political attitudes — some interesting stuff came out https://t.co/x1OxD3sQx9 full poll: https://t.co/xMmkMX2PY7 — Hilton, Shani O. (@shani_o) October 4, 2018 Decades after public school integration and the passage of civil rights legislation, many have wondered whether younger Americans are less racist than older generations. White millennials are not much different from generation x (born 1965 – 1980) or baby boomers (born 1946 – 1964) when it comes to explicit prejudice against African Americans, according to the Washington Post . Young whites expressed less prejudice on 4 out of 5 measures compared to older generations, but only by 1 to 3 percent, the Post’s analysis of data in 2015 found. A review in January of the University of Chicago’s GenForward Project survey of millennials by CBS News reinforced the Post’s analysis. One of the troubling findings of GenForward is that nearly half (48 percent) of white millennials believe that discrimination against white people has become as big a problem as discrimination against African Americans. Perhaps on a brighter side, the BuzzFeed survey showed that a majority of millennials disapproved of President Trump’s job performance. About 68 percent of them don’t like how he talks about Hispanic and Black people. However, that still leaves a sizeable minority who see no problem with the president’s racist attitude. Via | HipHopDX ATLANTA, GA –  Machine Gun Kelly’s  crew was accused of brutally assaulting actor Gabriel “G-Rod” Rodriguez last month and now, there’s proof. In new video footage obtained by  TMZ,  a man body slams G-Rod to the ground as three others begin to stomp on him. The attack took place inside the lobby of an Atlanta Hampton Inn where G-Rod was staying. Anthropological evidence shows the native people living in the lake region of the Valley of Mexico traditionally ate tacos filled with small fish. At the time of the Spanish conquistadors, Bernal Diaz del Castillo documented the first taco feast enjoyed by Europeans. This meal was arranged by Hernan Cortes for his captains in Coyoacan. It is unclear why the Spanish used the word taco to describe this native food. One suggested origin is the word ataco, meaning stuff or to stuff.” SEE ALSO:  8 Signs You’re Really Stressed Out For taco lovers, there’s a ton of places to get taco deals. Source: Source: WENN Are Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj cool or not? When the superstar rapper joked about her Philly ex on “Barbie Dreams” it seemed like there were no hard feelings between the two—but maybe that’s not entirely true. This week, Minaj announced an upcoming documentary titled Queen and in the trailer that was posted, she details the abuse between her parents, sharing that she later found herself in the same kind of situation with her own boyfriend. Minaj has been linked to a few men and didn’t name her abuser , so fans have no way to pinpoint who she might’ve been referring to. Hours after the trailer was posted and went viral on social media, Meek Mill hit Instagram with a message about narcissists that seemed to take aim at his ex. “When cornered, they’ll lash out by claiming that THEY are the real victim,” it read. “Their story will detail your drinking problem, depression, jealousy, low self-esteem, financial woes, etc., thereby gaining the sympathy of their fan club. Meanwhile, YOU will be isolated & confused while this aggressive campaign transpires. And when you emerge, the trap will have been set.” “Lol,” he captioned the pic. If you ask us, it’s pretty clear who he’s referring to…but let us know what you think. — Photo: WENN
