The master stylist and colorist has been in the industry for over 25 years and is a hair miracle worker, taking women whose hair has been damaged and edges reduced do to years of bad weaves, poor hair maintenance, alopecia and more. It’s no surprise the singer, who has beautiful hair that cascades down her back, trusted Collins for her big chop. Short hair has been trending and TWA’s and cropped cuts were spotted all over the NYFW runway. Jasmine Collins posted an Image to Instagram on Wednesday stating, “We all know who this beauty chocolate soul is @tweet_ and yes she wanted to cut it off.” The two collaborated on a look with the singer wanting something would be easy to maintain. Collins stated via Instagram, “She wanted a easy haircut so we relaxed the sides and kept the crown natural.” Beauties, have you ever partially relaxed your hair? While we’ve heard of extremes like people relaxing their edges, relaxing parts of your hair to maintain specific looks is nothing new. Many women who wear weaves will relax only the leave out part. Walmart Is Getting A Fashion Upgrade And Collaborating With Iconic NYC Brand Scoop

Source: #ScoopStyle x Walmart / Courtesy of Walmart Fashionistas everywhere were devastated when New York brand ‘Scoop’ closed it’s doors. The iconic brand was beloved by celebrities and their boutiques were known for housing up and coming brands. Well, Scoop is back and re-entering the market in an interesting way. The brand is partnering with Walmart for their relaunch and will now be able to reach a larger audience with their affordable prices. The boutique turned brand has launched a 100-piece private label collection with Walmart where everything is affordable. A graphic t-shirt will run you about $15.00 while the collection tops out at a teddy bear coat running you $65.00. Via press release, Walmart’s Head of Fashion, Denise Incandela, stated, “I’m thrilled to announce we’re helping customers build ‘The Ultimate Closet’ with the exclusive relaunch of Scoop as Walmart’s private brand for fashion-forward customers.” Walmart worked closely with Scoop founder Stefani Greenfield and the collection is forward thinking. There are elements like being animal friendly by incorporating certified vegan leather and faux fur. There are on trend elements like animal print and camouflage and they even knocked off the Jacquemus Le Chiquiti Bag, creating affordable and acccessible fashion. The collection has clothing that will be great to add to your work wardrobe as well as your after 5 wardrobe but the accessories are personally what stood out to me. I attended the launch event for the brand and had the opportunity to see an array of influencers wearing the brand. Unfortunately, there were not any plus size women wearing the clothes, which to me was a major miss. I’d love to see how these clothes look on plus size women, especially since according to Plunkett Research , 68% percent of American women wear a size 14 or above. With over a 100 pieces of clothing being a lot to sift through, I’ve rounded up my top picks from the collection. Keep clicking to check them out!

Asian-Owned D.C. Bar Accused Of Calling Woman ‘Black’ And ‘Ugly’

See the original post:

Source: Tetra Images / Getty A D.C. bar is under fire after a woman says she experienced “racist, sexist, colorist epithets” while visiting as a customer. Pierrea Naketa detailed the incident in a Medium article and explained that she visited Copycat Co. in the H Street neighborhood after leaving a silent dance party in the same area. At first, Naketa says she and her friend were having a good time but right when they were about to leave, the two witnessed a major disturbance at the bar area. Naketa says a male bartender “with deep brown skin” had “aggressively approached two black women sitting at the bar and snatched their plate of food.” Then, Naketa says he yelled to one of the women who was dark-skinned, saying “This bit** gotta go!” “Bit**? Why am I bit**,” Naketa says the woman responded. This is when Naketa says the bartender escalated things and went into a tirade screaming multiple times “YOU BLACK AND YOU UGLY BIT**! YOU BLACK AS F*** AND YOU UGLY!” Naketa noted that the dark-skinned lady’s friend had a lighter complexion. According to Naketa, the bartender was mad about another incident that happened the last time the dark-skinned woman was there. He argued that she was banned from CopyCat. Naketa explains, “the woman stated someone she was with got into an altercation with the bartender and they left, but she seemed to genuinely not know she was not welcomed to return.” As a matter of fact, Naketa said the woman and her friend were buying drinks and food with no interruption up until the bartender’s confrontation. Not too long after the bartender began his alleged tirade, Naketa says a short Asian man, who she assumed was the manager, came out and calmly told the dark-skinned woman she had to leave. Naketa then says, “After being humiliated in front of a packed room, she left with more grace than many I know would have. She obliged the request while noting to the manager, ‘Do you hear him calling me black and ugly? Is that okay?’” Once the woman left, Naketa says she felt obligated to talk to the manager: “I explained to him that while I do not know what happened before, and Copycat may have had good cause to want the woman to leave, the way she was asked to leave was disturbing. I asked him if he would be addressing the colorist rant with the bartender.” That’s when Naketa says the man said, “What? Do you want me to fire him?” He then tried to explain that the bartender was Black too. Naketa responded to the presumed manager in her article, saying, “that the bartender’s race is irrelevant and that his employee had screamed colorist remarks in front of a room full of people. I told him that my friends and I were uncomfortable and offended.” Naketa argues that the presumed manger didn’t take her concerns seriously and as she began to respond, “a young Black man who worked in the kitchen appeared from around the corner with a ladle in hand.” Naketa says he wrongfully assumed that Naketa was the woman who had been kicked out. Naketa says that he yelled, “Man quit talking to these bit**es! You been talking to these bit**es for 10 minutes! Kick the bit** out!’” After Naketa’s masculine partner came over and corrected the cook, Naketa says he apologized. However, when she asked for the presumed manager’s name, he replied, “I’m not giving you my name.” Naketa argues that if she hadn’t been a dark-skinned Black woman, “my complaint would have been taken seriously.” The next day, when Naketa Googled the restaurant, she realized that the man she was addressing who she thought was the manager was actually one of the owners of the restaurant Devin Gong. According to Thrillist , Gong is the owner of CopyCat Co., which “combines craft cocktails with Northern Chinese bites like pot stickers, skewers, and bao buns.” He just opened another restaurant called Astoria in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C., according to Eater . Since Naketa has shared her story on Medium , some folks across social media have supported her situation, saying they will never go to CopyCat Co. again.   Naketa describes herself as a “Black lesbian, law school grad, organizer, writer” and “Founder and President of Play In the Sun , an anti-colorism organization.” The woman who she says was kicked out has yet to make a public statement about the alleged incident. NewsOne reached out to Devin Gong with no response. Naketa urged people to share her story, writing, “I hope that I will find this woman.”

Dave East Cited For Battery After Struggle Ménage à Trois In Vegas

See the article here:

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN Dave East was living the life while in Las Vegas when ish went left, drastically. The NYC rapper and actor was cited for battery after allegedly getting into an altercation during a threesome gone wrong. No wonder he chilled on the Xanax . Reports TMZ : The New York rapper was cited last weekend in Las Vegas after cops interviewed multiple witnesses to an altercation he and 2 women allegedly got into following an appearance Saturday night at Drai’s Nightclub. According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, Dave invited 2 women back to his room at the Delano hotel and started having sex with them. From Dave’s POV, he told officers that 1 woman was upset he wasn’t giving her as much attention … and flipped out. Dave told cops she started hurling champagne bottles at him from across the room, and 2 of ’em made contact … striking him in the head and leaving cuts — which cops saw — on his arm and leg. As for the woman’s version … she told officers that in the middle of the sexual encounter, she and Dave got into an argument, and he threw punches 5-6 times, with one hitting her arm. She said she ran to the bathroom to call cops. She made no mention of bottles being thrown. Other witnesses included a third woman who entered the room once the argument started and one of Dave’s friends. The woman said Dave was the aggressor, while his buddy only saw the woman hurling bottles. Obviously, a he-said, she-said situation. No one was arrested, but both East and the woman were cited for battery, and treated for their injuries in separate hospitals. The rapper’s attorney, Stacey Richman, vehemently denies the allegations, only noting that Dave East did put the woman out of the room for the sake of everyone else’s safety. You can catch Dave East playing Method Man in Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga .

Angelica Ross Will Host Historic Presidential Forum On LGBTQ+ Issues Amid Black Trans Murder Crisis

See the original post:

Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN Angelica Ross , one of the stars of the FX series Pose,  will host a historic presidential forum on LGBTQ+ issues. According to Deadline , she will take on Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Sestak, Elizabeth Warren and Marianne Williamson in the national 2020 Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ Issues. The forum is presented by GLAAD, The Advocate, One Iowa, and The Gazette. It will be livestreamed from Coe College’s Sinclair Auditorium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Billy Gilman , the country artist and former contestant on The Voice , will perform the National Anthem for the event. The forum marks a historic moment, considering Ross will be the first transgender woman to host a presidential forum. This will also be the first presidential forum that will exclusively focus on LGBTQ+ issues, according to NewNowNext , especially at a moment when previous presidential debates have glossed over the subject. Ross will be joined by GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis on the stage and they will challenge the presidential candidates on pressing LGBTQ+ issues. During the forum, each candidate will have an opportunity to discuss their plan for improving queer and trans lives across America. The fact that Ross is hosting the event holds power, considering the current crisis of Black trans women being murdered at alarming rates . Just this week, The Advocate reported Ja’leyah-Jamar as the 19th trans woman to be killed this year. Eighteen of these murders have been Black trans women. Earlier this month, Bee Love Slater was another Black trans woman murdered. Her body was found burned beyond recognition, according to The Hill . Ross has consistently spoken up about trans rights and she is the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises , a trans-centered organization that helps empower folks in poverty with technical training that creates social impact and brings economic empowerment to marginalized communities. Although Ross didn’t explicitly say she would tackle trans murders at the presidential forum, she tweeted, “ I’m so READY & excited to be hosting the #LGBTQforum on Friday with @glaad, @OneIowa, @TheAdvocateMag and @gazettedotcom to ensure that presidential candidates are talking about issues important to LGBTQ voters! Stay tuned!” She also unapologetically called out presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Beto O’Rourke , who have yet to RSVP for the event. Although, later on she learned that Sanders had prior commitments. Found out Bernie has a prior commitments to visit HBCUs in North Carolina and Prestige Barber College (a black barbershop) and will be touring the civil rights museum. pic.twitter.com/BQPj7iglZ7 — Angelica Ross (@angelicaross) September 16, 2019   You can find out what the other presidential candidates have to say when the forum livestreams here on Friday, September 20 at 7 P.M.
