Source: Image Press/Splash News / Splash News 21 Savage is currently caught in the middle of an immigration case that is putting a sizeable dent in his touring career. The Atlanta-based rapper is currently awaiting a court date to resolve his status and ability to travel abroad but at the moment isn’t allowed to leave the United States to do one of the more financially significant portions of his profession. TMZ reports : As TMZ reported … Savage was arrested in Atlanta back in February and placed in ICE custody. Turns out he entered the U.S. legally from the UK back in 2005, but his visa expired and he’s been here illegally for years. The rapper wasn’t even able to get a work permit for 8 months, which meant he couldn’t work domestically. He finally got one last month, so at least now he can work in the U.S. … but traveling out of the country is out of the question until he gets things cleared up with immigration. The outlet adds that immigration courts in Atlanta have been besieged by a record number of cases, causing an effectual logjam of sorts. It might be years before the 27-year-old star will have his case heard and he still faces potential deportation as well. — Photo: Splash News
Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN Lil Rel Howery is smack dab in the middle of an ugly custody battle regarding his young son, and it appears that the mother has been running a major league scam. The woman, who claimed she left her husband, was indeed very much still married and even said that the baby boy wasn’t fathered by Howery but tests proved otherwise. TMZ reports that Howery, 39, says that a woman named LeChez Davis claimed that he was the father of her son and also granted the boy his last name. However, it’s come out in court documents that Davis was still married to her husband which she claimed was a done deal, and also painted the picture that the son was actually his and not Howery’s. After a paternity test, it’s come out that Howery is indeed the father of the boy and discovered that Davis didn’t give the child his last name and instead used the husband’s last name on the birth certificate. As a result, Howery is demanding sole custody of his son citing a “nefarious scheme replete with concealment, misrepresentations and deception in an attempt to defraud.” Howery is currently awaiting a ruling on the matter. — Photo: WENN

Cuba Gooding Jr. is back in court after another woman has accused the actor of touching her inappropriately. According to published reports, an unnamed individual claims that Gooding touched “intimate parts” at a Manhattan nightclub last year. The latest accusation follows two other incidents of groping against the actor for which he was charged. Charges include “grabbing a woman’s breast” at a bar in New York City and “pinching the buttocks” of a woman at a nightclub. As previously reported , Cuba Gooding Jr. appeared in court last month pleading not guilty to a four-count misdemeanor indictment charging him with inappropriate conduct involving two women. Prosecutors revealed in court that they want to use allegations from another 12 accusers against him to assist with showing his “character” during the trial. “Defendant’s past behavior shows that he routinely approaches women while at bars or nightclubs with whom he has limited or no prior interaction, and touches them inappropriately,” prosecutors argued in court papers obtained by Vulture . “His prior acts demonstrate that his contacts with their intimate parts are intentional, not accidental, and that he is not mistaken about their lack of consent.” The uncharged allegations against Gooding include forcible biting, licking, and kissing on some 12 occasions since 2001. Gooding is not charged in relation to these other 12 accusers, and a judge will decide later whether prosecutors can use their allegations in court. Gooding pleaded not guilty to the third charge of groping. The official charges for the incident are the same as the previous two including, forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse. The maximum penalty for forcible touching is a year in prison. — Photo: WENN.co

Source: Smoove Gal / Smoove Gal With social media so saturated with products being thrown at us, it often feels like we’re in a daze just swiping on our feeds. But a few months ago, something rare happened to me. During my normal timeline graze, I came across something that grabbed my attention and made me ask myself, “Wait a minute, what is this?!” See, someone on my timeline retweeted one of the dopest structured eye palettes I have ever seen. First, shaped like a pyramid, SmooveGal Beauty’s three-dimensional Egyptian Paradise Palette ($40) boasts a whopping 24 deeply pigmented hues, ranging from an emerald green matte to a champagne neutral shimmer. With a range like that, there’s something for every look, trend and season of the year, which I adore. Even better: The EP palette was created by Autumn Hulett , a 20-year-old Black woman who attends Prairie View A&M University. (I super adore) I NEED EVERYONE TO RETWEET THIS ! The makeup community needs a 3 dimensional eyeshadow palette invented by a black woman in their households !!!! This is SERIOUS! https://t.co/ZhbpVh0MuQ — Undeniably Dope Individual (@FlyBrownHuniee) September 3, 2019 After seeing the viral tweet, I just had to know more about the woman behind the product. Doing some research, I found that SmooveGal initially started with a lash line before Hulett decided to expand to shadows. I reached out to Hulett and from our phone conversation, I was super impressed with her professionalism, eye for design and utter passion for the beauty game. Here’s what the incredible marketing major had to say about her EP palette, breaking into the industry and what’s up next. HelloBeautiful: So, please tell me. Where did SmooveGal come from? Autumn Hulett: Well, I had this job in high school, but I got fired because I didn’t want to drive across town to go to work. (Laughs) But I knew I needed money. Coming from a family of hustlers, I knew how to make it work. So I started SmooveGal and initially started selling accessories and wallets. But I was also really into beauty and I love switching up my look so people don’t recognize me. At the time, I also loved wearing lashes and would go to the beauty supply store down the road and buy a pack of $1 lashes and I would end up spending $40 because they didn’t last. I was wasting my money and that’s when it hit me that I needed to create, buy and sell my lashes. HB: Well, and being at an HBCU with so many Black women, you have the perfect market right at your fingertips. AH : Exactly. Black women are the largest consumers when it comes to beauty and makeup. Plus, [a lot] of Black women are really into lashes! So I came out with my line freshman year after I got a refund check and was like, “Let’s do this!” I started dragging a big old wagon of lashes around campus, but the wagon was too small, so I googled “hot dog” cart,” bought one for $300, fixed it up and started selling my lashes out of that. HB: That is so awesome! So you went from lashes to shadows? AH: Sophomore year I was my dorm chilling and I just asked myself what if I did a pyramid palette and what If it was 3-dimensional? OH SNAP! [Laughs). So I looked around and had all of these old lash boxes and I started cutting them and began carving out the idea. I took a mirror from an old palette and started gluing, taping and cutting holes into things. From there, I tried to get it into production and I was told no a lot. Folks told me it’s impossible and that no one would be able to create it. But I found someone who could do it. HB: Walk me through the shadows and the structure. I’ve never seen anything like it before. AH: Well, there are 24 shades, with 6 colors on each of the four panels. The middle is the mirror and it can stand up on its own, be a vanity to go or just a decorative piece in your room. HB: How did you end up picking the shadows. AH: I have a lot of friends at my HBCU that are makeup artists and I asked them did they mind using my shadows on their customers. I also wanted feedback, honest feedback such as which shadows worked better than others, which were easier to blend, you name it. I didn’t want them to let up on me. If these shadows sucked, let me know. What they told me was helpful, because I needed to make sure these colors showed up on and worked for Black women. Source: Smoove Gal / Smoove Gal HB: With names such as Isis and Nubia, what is the palette’s theme? AH: While anyone can and should use the palette, it’s an ode to Black women and an ode to Egyptian culture. That mattered to me. To do the research, make sure I got it right. Goodmorning orders are going out this morning pic.twitter.com/jfk9B35Ddx — Undeniably Dope Individual (@FlyBrownHuniee) November 4, 2019 HB: Did you expect the response to your palette to be this overwhelming? That tweet went viral girl. AH: Never! I mean, I know have this great concept, but I didn’t think it would be like that. I am just happy that people are recognizing how dope it is and looks. HB: This is such a great time to be a Black woman in beauty. From Mented to Fenty, it’s so great to see this product be part of the landscape, BUT be so different than what’s already out there. AH: Thank you. I try to stay humble because I am still a baby out here. I’m literally just someone out of Texas, an HBCU, but no one has seen this before. And God forbid Rihanna or Kylie comes out with some crazy spaceship concept, but all in all, I did this, first and I am proud of that. HB: As you should be. Finally, what’s next for you and SmoothGal? AH: Well…I can’t say too much other than it will be a whole stepping outside the box and that the next collection, which should come out next spring, will be related to the EP palette too. BEAUTIES: The EP palette is now 20 percent off ($32)! Purchase it here. This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity. The beauty of natural hair is all the incredible shapes and silhouettes it can take on. The way Layne had her locs styled and shaped – I’m here for it! It looked like an astrological arrangement – like a planet orbiting around two rings. So here for it. Her hair was done by Larry J Sims who revealed to Essence that he was “inspired by the Gucci dress that her stylists Wayman and Micah chose for her. The color on KiKi’s chocolate skin felt regal and royal. Her make up artist Rebekah Aladdin always makes her look like a queen so I wanted to do something grand that would complement everyone’s efforts.” Source: Gregg DeGuire / Getty This Gucci dress is absolutely stunning. It was green with floral embellishments and the end. She left her neck bare and wore small earrings to allow the hair and the dress to shine. Layne wore silver sandals to compliment the entire look. And while she didn’t adorn her neck with jewels, she did wear glitzy rings.

Black women are chronically underpaid . Studies show this is a fact across a number of industries but in creative fields it is expounded on by an intentional lack of transparency. YouTube star turned professional model Chizi Duru is committed to changing this in creative fields. “There’s kind of been this culture of keeping quiet about the things that you’re doing, how much you’re making, what deals you’re making, what does your deal entail,” said Duru in an exclusive interview with Hello Beautiful . Many of the top models in the industry have cultivated a more personable approach to the faces on the billboards. “You can always use that to negotiate a deal for an even higher deal,” said Duru. You always see the woman that’s in the forefront is the lighter woman and it’s kind of subconsciously tells you like ‘Well I’m dark skinned, I’m not always going to be number one kind of thing.’ And I think just being able to be representation for that little girl that has darker skin or has kinky hair and them being able to see me on tv for a national commercial with Burlington they’re going to go ‘Wow! So this is possible for me,’ and that completely changes someone’s mindset and what they think is possible for them, which is everything because that can change someone’s trajectory in their life in general.” Tyra Banks inspired Duru to speak up for herself on and off set. Arguably one of the model influencer hybrids she addressed topics like fat shaming on her talk show the way Duru does on her YouTube channel. “She started gaining weight and she started gaining backlash for that and I just remember really connecting to her story, like I’m gaining weight too I’m not a figure eight.” She started using the phrase “You cannot talk to me anyhow,” to formalize her rejection of other people’s labels and refusals to meet her standards. “Even if I’m not a two or a six or a zero you still can’t talk to me anyhow. John Cena’s family comedy Playing With Fire hits theaters this weekend. The movie is funny and filled with a lot of slapstick comedy your children will love. The film starts off by showcasing a straight-laced fire superintendent named Jake “Supe” Carson and his elite team of firefighters fighting a blaze and perfectly saving the day. Once the group of Smoke Jumpers are back at the base they watch a news report of Commander Richards played by 24 star Dennis Haysbert basking in their glory and saying he will be looking to name a successor to take his place. This news gets ‘Supe’ excited as his firefighting brothers tell him he’s a shoo-in for that promotion. This has been Supe’s life long dream, but that’s when things start to fall apart as half of his team quits, right before a fire breaks out in the middle of the forest. The remaining crew takes this time to prove their worth by going out and putting out the fire by themselves. During this firefight, they end up saving a group of children whose parents are away for the weekend forcing these kids to have to stay at the fire department, but that’ when the hijinks begin. I thought this film was straight fire and laugh out loud funny. It’s ridiculous for sure and John Cena knows it telling me, during our interview on this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine, that he appreciated my favorable review, “but I would be ignorant to think that were wouldn’t be an antagonist opinion to this movie.” John has faced a lot of criticism from this film already because while filming Playing With Fire he went back to the job that made him famous, Professional Wrestling for a match with The Undertaker and got ripped a new one for having a “stupid haircut.” John opens up about how he handled that experience, “I think step one is being comfortable in your own skin,” adding. “Give all you have, know who you are and honestly evaluate the criticism.” Solid advice. John also revealed how he handled someone saying his hair looks FN stupid. Check out the full interview above and keep checking back for GlobalGrind for more exclusive Hollywood interviews.
