Source: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin / Getty KiKi Layne is absolutely gorgeous. Point, blank, periodt. However, this chocolate goddess went out and outdid herself for the 2019 Los Angeles County Museum of Art + Film Gala . She showed up and showed out in style! The beauty of natural hair is all the incredible shapes and silhouettes it can take on. The way Layne had her locs styled and shaped – I’m here for it! It looked like an astrological arrangement – like a planet orbiting around two rings. So here for it. Her hair was done by Larry J Sims who revealed to Essence that he was “inspired by the Gucci dress that her stylists Wayman and Micah chose for her. The color on KiKi’s chocolate skin felt regal and royal. Her make up artist Rebekah Aladdin always makes her look like a queen so I wanted to do something grand that would complement everyone’s efforts.” Source: Gregg DeGuire / Getty This Gucci dress is absolutely stunning. It was green with floral embellishments and the end. She left her neck bare and wore small earrings to allow the hair and the dress to shine. Layne wore silver sandals to compliment the entire look. And while she didn’t adorn her neck with jewels, she did wear glitzy rings.

Black women are chronically underpaid . Studies show this is a fact across a number of industries but in creative fields it is expounded on by an intentional lack of transparency. YouTube star turned professional model Chizi Duru is committed to changing this in creative fields. “There’s kind of been this culture of keeping quiet about the things that you’re doing, how much you’re making, what deals you’re making, what does your deal entail,” said Duru in an exclusive interview with Hello Beautiful . View this post on Instagram What's one thing you've learned to love about yourself? For me, it was my hair texture. Yep. I remember getting so upset at my hair because it wouldn't curl “the right way” and it was so. hard. to. comb. But now I love it! It all came down to being mindful of my thoughts towards my hair and learning what worked for it. Now she's my crown, a game-changer, and I'll forever be thankful for my 4C hair Comment below, let's talk! A post shared by CHIZI DURU (@chiziduru) on Sep 20, 2017 at 5:09pm PDT Appearing in campaigns for major brands like Burlington Coat Factory and Clarks she has been able to see the full extent of a company’s resources from a more empowered perspective. The infiltration of influencers into spaces traditional models have dominated has been met with some tension but Duru feels Youtubers can actually be assets to what she refers to as, “traditional models.” Cultivating a personal brand can fortify a model against rapidly shifting industry trends or missteps made by representatives . Many of the top models in the industry have cultivated a more personable approach to the faces on the billboards. “You can always use that to negotiate a deal for an even higher deal,” said Duru. There’s no books on it. Unless you talk to someone and ask them hey how much did you charge for this you’re probably not going to find that easily on the internet right now.” She hopes her modeling work will allow her to use her face and 4C hair to add diversity to visual representation in mainstream media. She uses that privilege to advocate for inclusion and consideration of women with “with darker skin and kinky hair,” when she is in the room with brands often pushing back on their creative visions. “Whenever you are in the room with just people you’re bound to connect in some way.” Duru desires for her image in store ads and commercials to not only impact little Black girls but people passing by who might not see them as the standard for what is beautiful. “I just I think it opens up their minds as well to see that beauty doesn’t just look one way,” she said. You always see the woman that’s in the forefront is the lighter woman and it’s kind of subconsciously tells you like ‘Well I’m dark skinned, I’m not always going to be number one kind of thing.’ And I think just being able to be representation for that little girl that has darker skin or has kinky hair and them being able to see me on tv for a national commercial with Burlington they’re going to go ‘Wow! So this is possible for me,’ and that completely changes someone’s mindset and what they think is possible for them, which is everything because that can change someone’s trajectory in their life in general.” Tyra Banks inspired Duru to speak up for herself on and off set. Arguably one of the model influencer hybrids she addressed topics like fat shaming on her talk show the way Duru does on her YouTube channel. “She started gaining weight and she started gaining backlash for that and I just remember really connecting to her story, like I’m gaining weight too I’m not a figure eight.” She started using the phrase “You cannot talk to me anyhow,” to formalize her rejection of other people’s labels and refusals to meet her standards. “Even if I’m not a two or a six or a zero you still can’t talk to me anyhow. It’s something that I said because it doesn’t matter how what size I am how big or how small or what I look like you still cant talk to me anyhow.” DON’T MISS: MODEL MONDAY: Nyakim Gatwech Is A Model With A Message For Black Girls MODEL MONDAY: Shawana Vickers Chooses Confidence Over Clout Chasing MODEL MONDAY: Erica Campbell’s Modeling Career Began After She Was Diagnosed With Stage 4 Cancer [ione_media_gallery src=”https://hellobeautiful.com” id=”3062746″ overlay=”true”]

Buffalo Wild Wings Employees Fired Two employees who participated in the racist moving of black patrons at a Buffalo Wild Wings have been fired. As previously reported a Naperville, Illinois Buffalo Wild Wings made national headlines after a group of patrons decided to leave after being asked to move tables because a regular customer “didn’t want blacks sitting nearby.” During the rancidly racist incident the host at the restaurant who was described as a young black man — asked, “What race are you?” to the group before noting that one of the restaurant’s regular customers seated nearby “doesn’t want black people sitting near him.” When the party refused to move to accommodate the bigoted chicken wing chomper, a phony “reservation” excuse was used by a manager to try to prompt the party to switch seats. That incident has left those two employees without jobs. The Naperville Sun reports that Buffalo Wild Wings spokesperson Clarie Kudlata in an email late Sunday said the company conducted a thorough, internal investigation and “terminated the employees involved.” She said a service manager and shift manager were fired. “Buffalo Wild Wings values an inclusive environment and has zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind,” Kudlata said. Reportedly several employees quit as well in connection with the incident. You never win when you play dirty, BWW better hope the family doesn’t decide to sue for discrimination.

As previously reported the housewife and Todd Tucker are expecting a baby girl via surrogate. According to Kandi herself, however, the surrogate she and husband Todd are using was initially pregnant with twins, but one of the embryos was lost. “We actually was supposed to be having twins, and then one of them didn’t continue,” Burruss explained, adding, “I was sad at first, but then I just had to be grateful that the one made it.” Sad news, the twin would’ve made Kandi a mother of five. Kandi and Todd already share 3-year-old son Ace, and Kandi is mom to 16-year-old daughter Riley and stepmom to Todd’s daughter Kaela, 22, from past relationships. Kandi also shared that it’s a bit strange to not go through the pregnancy milestones that her surrogate Shadina is experiencing. “I just feel like this whole situation is strange,” she confessed. “I don’t get to be excited about the first kick. I don’t get to be excited about, ‘Oh now my baby bump is showing.’ I don’t get to be excited even about my boobs filling up with milk.” During the show, Kandi’s son Ace seemed befuddled by the surrogate pregnancy and asked his parents if the woman “picked up his little sister from the store.” View this post on Instagram Pizza Friday’s in my (@kingjames Voice) just me and my best friend! John Cena’s family comedy Playing With Fire hits theaters this weekend. The movie is funny and filled with a lot of slapstick comedy your children will love. The film starts off by showcasing a straight-laced fire superintendent named Jake “Supe” Carson and his elite team of firefighters fighting a blaze and perfectly saving the day. Once the group of Smoke Jumpers are back at the base they watch a news report of Commander Richards played by 24 star Dennis Haysbert basking in their glory and saying he will be looking to name a successor to take his place. This news gets ‘Supe’ excited as his firefighting brothers tell him he’s a shoo-in for that promotion. This has been Supe’s life long dream, but that’s when things start to fall apart as half of his team quits, right before a fire breaks out in the middle of the forest. The remaining crew takes this time to prove their worth by going out and putting out the fire by themselves. During this firefight, they end up saving a group of children whose parents are away for the weekend forcing these kids to have to stay at the fire department, but that’ when the hijinks begin. I thought this film was straight fire and laugh out loud funny. It’s ridiculous for sure and John Cena knows it telling me, during our interview on this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine, that he appreciated my favorable review, “but I would be ignorant to think that were wouldn’t be an antagonist opinion to this movie.” John has faced a lot of criticism from this film already because while filming Playing With Fire he went back to the job that made him famous, Professional Wrestling for a match with The Undertaker and got ripped a new one for having a “stupid haircut.” John opens up about how he handled that experience, “I think step one is being comfortable in your own skin,” adding. “Give all you have, know who you are and honestly evaluate the criticism.” Solid advice. John also revealed how he handled someone saying his hair looks FN stupid. Check out the full interview above and keep checking back for GlobalGrind for more exclusive Hollywood interviews.

Fans will truly take what they can from a 10-second teaser won’t they? Source: James Devaney / Getty Over the weekend, Kanye West was getting dragged on Twitter when a photo surfaced of a struggle $55 breakfast plate from Brunchella he attended. The initial belief was that Ye was responsible for the meal, but TMZ reports that is not the case at all. Kanye West and his choir performed at the annual Brunchella fundraising event held at Bethany Church, located in Baton Rouge on Friday. Guests who attended were charged $55 per plate, and one attendee shared to the world his Fyre Fest-inspired meal, which consisted of sausage, pancakes, and two pieces of struggle bacon. West immediately caught all the flack on Twitter for the plate, but TMZ exclusively reports that it was the catering company’s fault, not MAGA Ye. Per TMZ : Kanye and team came under fire … with people accusing him of being the one who was charging for the subpar meal. However, we’re told it was quite the opposite … in fact, Kanye didn’t receive any money to perform Friday and covered all travel costs for his choir as well. The catering company behind the meal, Lauryn’s Fine Catering, tells us, “The catering company acknowledges it did not provide adequate food for ONE attendee and a social media post went viral.” They continue, “Kanye West and the Sunday Service collective should be disassociated with such claims surrounding the food at the event.” We initially reported that Kanye probably had nothing to do with the meal, but its quite fitting he was apart of an event that produced such a despicable serving of food, to begin with.— Photo: James Devaney / Getty
