According to reports from The Bahamas’ EyeWitness News , a statement from Bahamas Information Services says that the pair of celebs visited the National Emergency Management Agency on Thursday. A video clip of Kanye and Fox visiting the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium–which is housing hundreds of displaced storm victims at the moment–ended up going viral on social media. “They met with John Michael Clarke of the reconstruction committee and Godfrey Rolle, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ representative at NEMA,” the BIS statement read. “Following the meeting Fox and West joined members of Emergency Support Function groupings who just finished the afternoon in-house briefing in NEMA’s National Emergency Operations Centre to watch Shaunae Miller-Uibo compete at the IAAF World Championships in the women’s 400m, who ended up winning the silver medal in 48.37 seconds, setting a new national record.” Kanye and Rick Fox in Nassau, Bahamas today after leaving Wyoming last night. https://t.co/wKtpFzuLn3 — TeamKanyeDaily (@TeamKanyeDaily) October 3, 2019 Rick Fox also posted about the trip himself, sharing a photo of him and Kanye with the disaster management agency and adding a link to The Bahamas Relief Foundation. Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty The 90’s produced an era of African American brands that revolutionized fashion and left a long lasting affect on Black culture . From Baby Phat to Karl Kani, creative expression through fashion was widely practiced and supported. Among the many brands to leave a dent in Black culture was Cross Colours. Not only was their bright color-blocking aesthetic fueled with political messaging, it was also everything we didn’t know we needed at the time. Carl Jones and TJ Walker founded Cross Colours back in 1989. Their clothing line was a testament to the carefree feeling of the 90’s. Back then, women wore baggy clothes like the men so in some ways, they presented as gender neutral brand. It was a rebellious, fun, colorful way to express yourself and represent the culture, hence their tag line “Clothing without Prejudice”. Cross Colours aimed to have an open dialog on police brutality, drugs, and the educational gap by projecting the positive attributes of black and urban culture. https://www.instagram.com/p/B29oJ_ngIS7/?igshid=15ve8ud4gynva https://www.instagram.com/p/B2otX9ego8S/?igshid=w726t7jcv9ap With such a rich history contributed to the urban community, it is great to see that Cross Colours now has an exhibition at The California African American Museum called, “Cross Colours: Black Fashion in the 20th Century.” The exhibit shows the history of brand from it’s birth in 1989 to current day trends. In an interview with Vogue , Co-curator Tyree Boyd-Pates says the exhibition, “is organized as a visual roadmap of the African America social movements that inspired the brand, both thematically and historically.” He adds, “in particular, it shows how Cross Colours modeled Black pride, community responsibility, and solidarity in the early 1990s.” The messaging of the brand is something that rings very true today. “I can’t believe that the slogan we printed on our T-shirts, ‘Clothing Without Prejudice,’ is something that still needs to be said today,” Jones says. “That was in the ’90s, and I think it’s as relevant today as it was then, maybe even more so.” This exhibition couldn’t have come at a better time. It is a great way of showcasing how fashion can make a statement beyond the clothes you wear. There is a lack of Black designers producing affordable, urban street wear like there was in the 90’s. This exhibition in some ways pays homage to the innovators who used fabric as a way to unite an entire community of people. Personally speaking, I’m jealous of the L.A. residents who get to witness the history of Cross Colors at the California African American Museum. From now until March 1, 2020, you can experience the Black Fashion in the 20th Century exhibit. Source: Black Radiance True Complexion Deep To Dark Contour Palette / Courtesy of Black Radiance I’ve been on a no-foundation kick for about a year now. I really only wear it for major events or on camera appearances (if that). Recently, I hosted a panel at CurlFest Atlanta and had my makeup done by @LahLuvie (whom I HIGHLY recommend if you ever need your makeup done in Atlanta). Source: Arkeedah McCormick / Courtesy of Danielle James She had me looking like a STAR and I can’t lie, that I began craving that look. I’m currently in Africa and was attending a friend’s private movie screening and wanted to just give my face some extra love. I packed the Black Radiance True Complexion Deep To Dark Palette ($8.49, blackradiancebeauty.com ) and decided to give it a try. Source: Black Radiance True Complexion Deep To Dark Contour Palette / Courtesy of Black Radiance The palette is a powder palette and I’m not an expert at contouring. I was a little nervous to mess up; however, I decided to walk boldly into beauty. The first step I did was apply all my skincare products. After I let those settle in, I then applied my foundation. After my foundation, I applied some concealer under my eyes and blended in to help disguise my dark circles that were the result of some serious jet lag. Now it was time to use the palette. Contouring is great for when you want to help create some symmetry to your face or even slim out certain areas. The palette instructs you with an easy to follow application guide where to apply the contour, sculpt and highlight. This was helpful because as earlier mentioned, I’m not a contour queen. I suggest using a beauty blender, my personal favorite is founded by a Black woman, The Makeup Bullet ($25.00, amazon.com ). It comes 3 in a pack. I’ve been using them since about 2016. A beauty blender will help because if you are a bit heavy handed like me, it gives the opportunity for you to blend in your mistakes (I did this frequently). The Makeup Bullet is like a finger sponge, so it also helps with control and has a great pointed tip. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James I found the contour powder to be a bit dark at first; however, once I blended it in, it really created a beautiful look. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James The highlight is my absolute favorite and is even prettier upon application that it is in the palette. I started using it as well on days I didn’t contour but just wanted to glow. Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James I was impressed with the overall look when I was done. I added some Kiss Lashes in Lacey ($6.99, kissusa.com ) and stepped back to admire my final beat! If I do say so myself, my makeup looked (almost) professionally done! I received a ton of compliments! Another thing, is that this easy to use guide helps the process not take so long. I think the contouring step took me all of 10 minutes (and this was my first try). I set the look with Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray ($33.00, sephora.com ) and mixed Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Unveil ($24.00, sephora.com ) and Unbutton ($24.00, sephora.com ) to create a pinky chocolate nude look. I was ready for a night out! I give this palette five stars. The quality seems more expensive than the price tag and I was extremely happy with the final look. If you like to contour, you need to add this palette to your life! Source: Black Radiance True Complexion Light To Medium Contour Palette / Courtesy of Black Radiance For my lighter complexion beauties, the palette also comes in a light to medium option ($8.49, blackradiancebeauty.com ). I love that they offer two options for Black women. Beauties, have you tried this palette? Tell me in the comment section! If you do use it, share your look with me on Instagram by tagging me or DM’ing me @TheIslanDiva. I want to see! If you are interested in trying it, the Black Radiance website is currently having a 25% off sale for Fall by entering the code BRFALL. Happy shopping! Rachel Cook is not Rachel Leigh Cook, despite every Rachel Cook post I’ve done the last year being about Rachel Leigh Cook, in a tribute to the past, cuz I am a sensitive guy who knows being an aged chick who was once seen as a hot and marketable chick, only to be replaced by other chicks, is rough….even worse when the young pussy replacing the old pussy steals your fucking name and identity… So I used Rachel Cook’s shameless instagram fame hustle as an excuse to talk about the real Rachel Cook….cuz I know this Rachel Cook has been leveraging the real Rachel Cook this entire time…. But today, Rachel Cook has her tits out again…this Rachel Cook not that Rachel Cook….and she censored it for instagram with here “free the nipple” text…so the outsourced censors based in INDIA or the Philippines know that the nipple flagged by advanced image recognition software is actual in protest….and not because a bitch wants her tits seen….when clearly bitch wants her tits seen and it is nothing political at all, the political thing is just a good excuse to be the titty whore you want to be. Angelina Jolie brought out her chopped off granny tits in some magazine, because I guess she was craving attention, or is promoting some shit, whether it is a movie, or her politics…who cares…she’s naked in a tub full of milky water that automatically makes me think that maybe something of hers is leaking something weird out of her well traveled cunt. Maybe something she caught eating bush meat in whatever United Nations country she abducted her kids from… Or it could just be creative direction from the photoshoot, you know cuz they can’t have her sprawled mom cunt on the cover, and since she’s cut off her tits, this is the best thing to do…dirty bath water…a fetish to all the wrong fucking people….who I’ve met..and would would drink this water if they could order it off the internet… All this to say – boring. I saw Charli XCX perform accidentally when I used to leave the house many years ago…and no one cared…. It was at the time she first moved to America from the UK, and was making moves on social media to be the next Rita Ora…a dream no one actually has, because Rita Ora has accomplished very little except maybe fucking a Kardashian….and record producers…to get an illusion of a career…so that she could get invited to the it-parties and fake it til she made it a career.. So at the time I saw her and she was working her tits in leotards hard…no one cared….and I assume still don’t care…but it’s 5-6 years later…and she’s been consistent at the trying to get people to care…using ass, tits, whatever…and according to her IG story, her concert with Brooke Candy, another winner who paved the way for hipster sluts to make bad music, is sold out… So there’s that…while you look at her white panties wishing their was more of a stain on it, but the filters are too strong, we’ll never know if she’s been ovulating in these panties, or better yet, having her period – free bleeding like all the cool kids are doing in these panties…and that’s unfortunate. The icon, the legend, the never was Britney – Christina Aguilera lives… Here are the pics of her shuffling her way into this event..as a fat man I can relate to her not wanting to wear pants…but still facing the same struggle of trying to carry that weight places…all pantsless….with your thighs rubbing togteher…which isn’t something she’s used to cuz in her castle she calls home she has a team of people physically carry her…oh to be rich and famous… I don’t know why she’s out there doing this comeback tour, obviously money and ego, since she can seemingly sing, unlike Brtiney, who proved celebrity isn’t a singing contest. I figure if I was a rich hot popstar at 20, making 100s of millions of dollars, I’d be good chilling on that money for life…but I guess bills need to be paid and doing nothing isn’t all that stimulating, even if I find it the best thing ever… So instead of being a memory from the Dirty video, she’s a “woah look how gross Aguilera’s got since the Dirty Video”…and that is a dumb strategy.
