The former Empire actor maintains that the alleged hate crime in Chicago actually happened. As captured by The Shade Room , Smollet saw fit to defend himself after YouTube and media personality Derrick Jaxn saw fit to make a joke at the expense of the actor. Jaxn threw shade at Smollett in connection to a TSR story of the young Washington area girl who claimed racist schoolmates cut off her dreadlocks only to retract the story. Jaxn wrote in his reply “Jussie really is a trendsetter” which prompted a response from Smollet. Smollet fired back with, “With all due respect brother, y’all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I haven’t lied about a thing,” Smollett said. “Y’all can continue to be misinformed, internalized sheep, who believe what actual proven liars feed you or you can read the actual docs. Either way, I’mma be alright. I know me and what happened. You don’t. So carry on. All love.” Okay, then. It isn’t known if Jaxn has responded to Smollet’s classy clap back. And for anyone who knows a little bit about the 50-year-old’s epic rise from poverty to penthouse, his story is nothing short of incredible. I just moved through it,” and lived through the mantra, “Boys don’t cry, shut up and move on.” But his mothers love and his belief in God kept him steady through adversity. And in your marriage you had to put in even more work when he came to you with a confession. What did he tell you? Erica Campbell: He told me that he had been unfaithful and he told me that it had been years back and he told me he thought if he just stopped and just kept moving forward, it would be fine. And he said that he didn’t have peace and he couldn’t rest. And so we talked about it and strangely enough, I kind of knew it. I suspected it. But I was like, ‘Well, I don’t see any evidence. I don’t feel that.’ It got dark of course. You get angry. You go, ‘Okay, I’m good. I’m out. I got my own money. I can do this by myself. You live your life, I’m good. Look at me. This’ll be fine. But then I began to think about commitment and what I said to God. And how I said for better or for worse. And I began to think about him. I asked myself ‘Is he a mistake or did he make a mistake?’ And I believe he was a good man that made a mistake and there’s a difference. Yes he was irresponsible and selfish and I was consumed with my career. He literally asked me, ‘I need you to be home. I need some more time with you.’ And my ego said, ‘Excuse me, I’m on the road traveling. I’ve got Grammys. I’m selling records. DaBaby is really coming up in the world, as he should be. Just a few months after dropping his debut studio album Baby on Baby , the rapper from the Tar Heel State released his sophomore effort Kirk this past Friday (Sep. 27). With his latest album on track to hit number 1 on the Billboard charts with 130K to 150K equivalent album units being moved (those new Soundscan rules are still hella weird), DaBaby took to the stage of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and with The Roots providing the beats and Stunna 4 Vegas hitting him with an assist, DaBaby proceeded to rock the crowd in New York City. Pumping out verses from some of his standout cuts from Kirk including “Intro,” “Really,” and “Bop,” the iced out rapper gave The Tonight Show crowd a performance they’d soon not forget. On Monday, September 30 the 52-year-old actress was arrested on charges of domestic battery. According to the police reports she allegedly assaulted her newly wedded husband Jeffrey Marty. While she was the one who called for police assistance she was the spouse who was put in handcuffs as Marty, who happens to be a lawyer, was found with scratches on his body. As spotted on Page Six the audio from her phone call has been released. On the recording the Bronx native is heard explaining her side of the story to the 911 operator. “We were all arguing, I asked his daughter to get out of my face, she was in my face. I pushed her back and he put me into a chokehold” she said. She goes on to detail that her hubby and his kids were in another room conspiring to frame her for the physical altercation. “They’re all saying what a b*tch I am, I’m the stepmother, how they all hate me. They’re just disrespectful, awful children” she vented. “They’re just talking with each other about how to put me in jail.” Midway through the call Marty is heard in the background. “I can’t believe you did this. I can’t believe you’d go after her like this” he exclaimed. Peele would go on to win the Acadamy Award for Best Original Screenplay plus earn nominations for Best Director and Picture. The film’s star Daniel Kaluuya was nominated for the Best Actor category. Us , Peele’s follow-up to Get Out broke records following its debut earlier this year. When it opened in theaters it quickly had highest-grossing opening ever for an original horror film; the highest-grossing opening ever for an R-rated movie. High Snobiety is reporting that the fashion retailer has officially filed for bankruptcy . According to The Financial Times the brand plans to restructure their organization in an effort to minimize loss. This includes shutting down up to 300 of their stores across the world. According to the documents filed the Los Angeles, California based company is listing assets and liabilities between $1 billion to $10 billion. In a formal statement listed on their site Forever 21 claims they are not shutting down their operations. “Essentially this allows Forever 21 to continue to operate its stores as usual, while the Company takes positive steps to reorganize the business so we can return to profitability and refocus on delivering incredible styles and fashion you love for many years to come. This does NOT mean that we are going out of business – on the contrary, filing for bankruptcy protection is a deliberate and decisive step to put us on a successful track for the future.” This new filing is just another name in the bucket of retailers who are hemorrhaging money.
