Cardi B Explains Why She Won’t Go On A Headlining Tour

Source: Thaddaeus McAdams / Getty Sorry Bardi Gang, but Cardi B is refusing to do a headlining tour. The “Press” rapper broke down why she won’t be embarking on her first headlining tour despite her success. In a now deleted Instagram post, Cardi said it is more lucrative for her to do festivals rather than concerts of her own. The costs of going on tour and funding her stage production would come out of her pocket, which she isn’t ready to do. Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). “I find it so funny that people that ARE NOT FANS have the biggest concerns on why haven’t I done a tour. Jermaine Dupri Creates So So Def Female Cypher After Criticizing Women Rappers

Source: Jason Mendez / Getty Jermaine Dupri caught an avalanche of slander from a bevy of women rappers after he criticized them and compared them to being like strippers. After getting a strong lesson on women in the game that can do whatever they want in music just like the men are allowed, the veteran Atlanta producer announced the launch of a new women-focused venture. “After all the calls,DMs, angry tweets and other messages saying “I am a major gatekeeper in the hip hop world, why don’t I invest in a female who is out here hustling and making a name for herself?” I decided to create the #SoSoDefFemalecypher, details coming soon,” Dupri wrote on his social media accounts. On Twitter, R&B singer 6lack checked Dupri on the curious timing of the SoSoDef Female Cypher. women in hip hop don’t need representation/approval from men (ya cypher sounds more reactive than proactive). if u don’t have a fav artist that hits on the subjects u wanna hear, u could solve that wit a quick search & some support. plus, IF they do wanna talk about sex, they can https://t.co/9nX46FDUia — black (@6LACK) July 12, 2019 “[W]omen in hip hop don’t need representation/approval from men (ya cypher sounds more reactive than proactive). if u don’t have a fav artist that hits on the subjects u wanna hear, u could solve that wit a quick search & some support. plus, IF they do wanna talk about sex, they can,” 6lack wrote via Twitter. Dupri fired back with, “You right!! they can talk about whateva they wanna talk about and I can have my opinion right ?” which didn’t endd there. 6lack returned fire saying, “sure, but “they all talkin about the same thing” ain’t accurate lol. i got an amazing playlist that i didn’t even break a sweat to make.” Time will tell if the So So Def boss nails the concept. Four Years Without Sandy: What Sandra Bland Taught Us About Life & Death In America

Source: NewsOne Screenshots / NewsOne Now Four years after Sandra Bland  was found dead in her jail cell in Waller County, Texas, America finds itself at a crossroads. In the wake of intense violence nationwide and a President who emboldens this type of violence, we must decide now if we are going to allow systemic violence against marginalized communities to become part of the status quo, or are we going to make a change. In spite of the countless injustices that have transpired since her death, it is impossible not to be haunted by Sandra’s story — not just for the sheer scope of its tragedy, but also for how regular she was. Sandra could have been any one of us. Four years later, racial tensions have only grown progressively worse in America. On this day, it’s important to reflect on the lessons we learned from Sandra, whose light and legacy can never be dimmed. Here is what Sandra has taught us: You Can Control Your Legacy Too often, Black victims of police brutality end up facing a trial in the public eye. Mainstream media often depicts them as somehow deserving of the horrendous treatment they received. But Sandra’s commitment to documenting her life meant that she was empowered to leave her own legacy and tell her own story beyond her death. Her vlog, #SandySpeaks, gave us all the chance to get to know how she lived rather than just how she died. She could not be erased. Furthermore, her family’s activism beyond her death has left a profound impact on today’s civil rights movement . The tragedy they experienced spurned them into action. And those actions are proof of the impact she had on their lives. Respectability Politics Won’t Save Us Black people are often told that what they wear, how they speak, and what they do can somehow save them from racism. It is one of the great myths of modern society. It’s hard to think of a more “respectable” person than Sandra. She was an educated, accomplished, beautiful woman. She was getting ready to begin a new career. She had a promising future. And still, she died in police custody under extremely mysterious circumstances. According to a recent report in the The Guardian , “based on the latest national figures available from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 4,980 prisoners in US correctional facilities died in 2014, a nearly 3% increase from 2013. In addition, in state prisons, the mortality rate was 275 for every 100,000 people, the highest since data collection began in 2001.” We have to stop holding Black people to standards that we believe will save us in a system that is failing to protect us. Trayvon Martin did not die because of his hoodie. Alton Sterling didn’t die because of his previous issues with the law. Education and career choice couldn’t save Sandra or Philando Castile . They were victims of a racist system that needs to be changed. It’s Not Only Black Men Who Are In Danger The #SayHerName movement has been around for some time, but it was Sandra’s death, along with female victims like Korryn Gaines , Natasha McKenna , Rekia Boyd , and Kindra Chapman that thrust it into the national dialogue. But if Sandra is proof of anything, it’s that we have a long way to go. Were it not for social media and the tireless efforts of her family, we may never have known her name. It’s not hard to imagine just how many female victims remain ghosts in the public persona. Black women are one of the world’s most marginalized populations and we can no longer operate under the illusion that just because we aren’t hearing about it, it’s not happening. The Bronx rapper has accused Brittney Taylor of harassing her stepdaughter (read: Papoose’s first-born daughter). Reports Page Six : The Bronx rapper’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, told a Manhattan Criminal Court judge that she plans to hand over screenshots to prosecutors proving her client’s foe, TV personality Brittney Taylor, has been bothering Ma’s stepdaughter by phone and on social media. Taylor “has actively been calling my client’s daughter as well as tagging her on social media,” Florio griped to reporters outside the courtroom. “Remy doesn’t want her daughter to be harassed by Brittney.” Florio claimed that the DA’s office has “an open mind” about the case and that she hopes to convince prosecutors to toss the charges against Ma by her next court appearance Sept. 26. The Genius Marketing Behind ‘The Lion King’

Even for superstars like Bey and Gambino, t hose are pretty heavy paw prints t o fill. A history 25 years deep makes a film like t his almost fail-proof. Millennials and Gen Z alike have experienced t he original along with several of its renditions in Lion King 2 , and 1 ½ . Yes in t hat order. T here was even an animated series made t hat ran for 85 episodes between 1995 and 1999. Essentially, Lion King fans are adults, and some even have children. Either way, we’re more t han happy t o dive into some nostalgia while introducing t he 2000s babies t o a classic. T he Lion King has returned t o unsurprisingly great reviews. “Breathtaking,” “beautiful,” “visually immaculate,” and “stunning” were just a few words used t o describe viewers’ cinematic experience. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I think it’s going to change how we look at movies forever. As an *emotional* experience, though…I’ll put it this way: It turns out lions can’t really emote. — Adam B. Vary (@adambvary) July 10, 2019 Beyond t he film itself, reviews came in strong for t he cultural awareness shown in t he film’s musical efforts. T he soundtrack entitled The Lion King: T he Gift was produced by none other t han Beyoncé herself. Needless t o say, t he Queen made sure t he soundtrack was outfitted with its proper African roots in combination with several other genres, according t o a statement by Queen Bey. “This is a new experience of storytelling,” she said. “I wanted t o do more t han find a collection of songs t hat were inspired by t he film. Ja Rule Will Not Be Held Liable In Fyre Festival Lawsuits

Source: Netflix / Fyre Ja Rule is breathing a huge sigh of relief this week. His neck will not be on the line for one of the biggest concert scandals in history. Page Six is reporting that the “Always On Time” rapper is no longer on the legal hook for the Fyre Festival. A judge at a federal Manhattan court ruled that Atkins will no longer be included in the civil suit filed by consumers who paid thousands of dollars each for tickets. On Wednesday, July 10 Judge P. Kevin Castel stated that Ja was “not alleged to have known of individual ticket or merchandise sales”. Originally billed as a “luxury music festival”, Fyre ended up being a fraudulent struggle of epic proportions. When guests arrived in the Bahamas for the opening weekend they were greeted with  cheese sandwiches and FEMA tents instead of gourmet meals and luxury villas they were promised. But the inferior accommodations didn’t stop there as there was no electricity or working bathrooms in place. The scene quickly turned into a modern day  Lord of the Flies . Ja was not in attendance when Judge Castel ruled but his legal team communicated the Queens native’s appreciation. “Mr. Atkins is thankful for today’s ruling and for the Court’s time and attention. Justice was done today” explained Ryan Smith. Organizer Billy McFarland was found guilty of defrauding a total of $27 million dollars. He is currently serving six months in prison. The story was detailed in the jaw dropping Netflix documentary FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.  Photo: Derrick Salters / WENN.com

SMH: Jason Momoa Doesn’t Have Abs Anymore & People Are Body Shaming Him For It

Source: Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com / WENN Jason Momoa Was Pictured Without His Signature Abs & People Went In Last week, Us Weekly posted a photo of Jason Momoa shirtless while on vacation in Italy. Usually, a shirtless photo of Jason Momoa–or any photo of Jason Momoa, really–would spark nothing but thirsty commenters, but this time around, things were a little bit different. This time, the comments were bombarded with people wondering where the usually very buff star’s abs went. Here’s the picture in question: View this post on Instagram What else could you need on a holiday weekend? Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet vacationed in Venice and the photos are must see Tap the bio for more! ( : MEGA/AMA) A post shared by Us Weekly (@usweekly) on Jul 3, 2019 at 4:36am PDT When the picture was first posted, certain commenters began to call this Momoa’s “dad bod.” If that’s what people are going to start calling dad bods, then we’ve got a way bigger issue here–but it’s still alarming that someone as fit as Jason Momoa can still be body shamed for what is probably just the result of not working out while on vacation. crazy how jason momoa’s greatest critics are dumpy middle aged women lol pic.twitter.com/jjtmF4H0ee — b** (@MINECRAFTMILF) July 11, 2019 In the Instagram comments of the picture, one person could be seen asking “what happened to his abs?” alongside a crying emoji. Another said: “This is what it looks like when he lets himself go.” In another comment section of the same photo on Facebook, somebody else suggested that Momoa needed to “start lifting” again. Despite the fact that these commenters probably don’t have six packs themselves, everyone else on the internet quickly realized how absolutely insane these criticisms were, and fans quickly came to Jason’s defense. Apparently, the internet is body shaming Jason Momoa for this photo, saying he has a 'dad bod'. Hahahahaha! Go home, internet. You're drunk. pic.twitter.com/iq5dKMH9Ud — Luke Romyn (@LukeRomyn) July 11, 2019 If that's a “dad bod”, I have “bed-ridden grandpa bod” — Cam (@camk94) July 11, 2019 For those of us who actually have bodies that more closely resemble an actual dad (or mom, is that a thing?) bod, it should be more comforting than anything to see people like Jason Momoa–who is known for having an incredible physique–able to take a break, enjoy vacation, and not focus on whether or not he has a six pack 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The moral of the story here: literally ANYONE can be body shamed, even people who probably work out more than 300 days a year and have bodies that look like they were sculpted by God himself. The internet sure is a fun place, isn’t it? Hopefully Jason Momoa isn’t taking any of these comments to heart because, let’s face it, he’ll probably have a six pack again the second he does 3 or 4 sit-ups–and the rest of us…..won’t.

Adrienne Bailon Talks Making Her Man Shed Tears In The Sack

Source: Paul Archuleta / Getty This week on “The Real,” the ladies spoke about a topic that comes up quite often on the show. Good sex. Jeannie was saying that she really appreciates the way men open up conversationally after they’ve been physically, sexually satisfied. In response, Adrienne Bailon wondered if any of the other ladies had experienced a man being so emotionally overcome that he shed tears. Jeannie : When a man is in bed with you and he’s happy and he’s satisfied, he opens up and there’s thing and you get to talk to him about things where he’s not trying so hard. He’s just being him. Adrienne : Anybody ever cried after? I love that. That’s bomb. Tamera : Oh, the guys cries? Adrienne : They’re just overwhelmed with how much they love you, or how they feel about you or how bomb you were. They’re just like, sniffles. ‘That was amazing. God is good.’ This is going to get weird. Have you ever seen the movie Stella Got Her Groove Back and she’s in the shower and she sheds a tear. Has that ever happened to you? Tamera : Cuz it was so good…Yeah. Adrienne : I can’t be the only one. It’s not like [sob] literally a tear just comes out of your eye. I don’t even know how it happens. Jeannie : I don’t know if I cry. Because in that moment and it’s so good and you’re happy it’s like, ‘Yes Hunnay!’ Adrienne : You’ve never been so tense where just one tear.. it’s not like an intentional…it’s not emotional. Jeannie : No, no. Adrienne : I pray that upon your life. I really do.   Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). The story blew up because you know, sex is salacious and we often don’t think about men connecting to sex emotionally. But according to several sources, it’s a normal occurrence. And the reasons for the tears are varied. According to Healthline.com , tears during or after sex are quite common. They could be tears of joy, relief, melancholy, or they could be—as Adrienne stated— a purely physical reaction. You can be overcome by your emotions and the physical release, coupled with the emotions you feel for that person could result in tears. maybe you’re grateful for the physical sensations you’ve just experienced. I think we underestimate how big of a role human touch plays in our lives. Then there’s the reverse where feelings of uncertainty, instability or regret can result in not so happy tears. Symptoms include tearfulness, sadness and irritability after consensual sex. The tears could be the result of painful sex, anxiety about the relationship or the act, and triggers from past trauma, depression, and even the drastic shift in hormonal changes being so sharp, it produces tears.
