After his estranged wife filed for divorce last July, Garnett recently filed documents to avoid having to pay her spousal support. The Blast reports : As The Blast first reported, KG’s wife, Brandi Padilla, filed for divorce last July. In her filing, she asked for physical custody of the couple’s two children and for the court to award her spousal support. KG filed his response on Monday, where he is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the kids. He is also asking the court to terminate spousal support for Brandi, citing a prenup the couple signed a month before the marriage. The couple did agree on the date of separation — they both listed “TBD” — and the reason for the split, irreconcilable differences. Safaree Samuels continues to embrace the struggle. The reality star, and Nicki Minaj’s ex, show up late to the Love & Hip Hop: New York reunion taping in Atlanta, and of course it was dramatic. Reports TMZ : Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, Safaree was supposed to appear in Atlanta Wednesday to shoot the ‘LHH’ show. We’re told last Friday he was committed to do the special — but he had a change of heart on Monday — backing out due to what he called safety and mental health concerns. Our sources say VH1’s parent company, Viacom, promised Safaree they’d put necessary measures in place to make sure he felt safe — including additional security if a fight broke out — but he wouldn’t budge. The former host of BET’s 106 & Park and current Extra host ( though currently suspended ) has been accused of sexual assault by six different women. Calloway’s accusers have spoken out in a new story from The Hollywood Reporter . So far, six women have come forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct and assault. Last year, writer Sil Lai Abrams accused Calloway of groping him, and he was even arrested. However, the case was dismissed on procedural grounds (Calloway maintained his innocence). Reading Abrams’ account inspired Jeannie Delgado, who works in the aviation industry, to reveal that Calloway allegedly raped her in 2009. She claims that after Calloway offered her to stay overnight in a guest room in his home he raped her. “I thought it was not a big deal,” says Delgado, who works in the aviation industry. “I’m thinking this is the guest room. It turned out to be his bedroom. He closed the door behind him. He basically closed the door, locked it and tried to kiss me. I was like, ‘No, no, no.’ Then he went for my pants. He flipped me over, grabbed my hands, held them behind my back.” Holding both her hands in one of his, she says, he used his free hand to pull off her pants. “I’m 5-foot-2, 110 pounds,” she says. “He’s 6-foot-4, and I don’t know how much he weighs. He proceeded to rape me. When I tried to get up, he pulled me back down and bear-hugged me. That was for hours. I lay there crying the whole time. When the sun came up, he raped me again.” (Calloway, via an attorney, denies all allegations of misconduct.) Other accusers include two women, Nancy and Daisy, who didn’t want to use their real names and another woman who chose to remain unnamed. Perhaps the most heinous detail of their stories is that Calloway did not use condoms during the alleged sexual assault. Calloway has denied all the allegations via his lawyer. “These allegations are completely false,” said his attorney Lisa E. Davis. “Mr. Calloway has never sexually assaulted anyone and is devastated that he is being falsely accused of such terrible conduct. Throughout his career, Mr. Calloway has been a tireless advocate for community empowerment and equality and justice for all people regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or gender expression.” Calloway was suspended from Extra after word got out that The Hollywood Reporter was preparing to publish their story. — Photo: Getty
Another young Black man has been shot dead by police. Aspiring rapper, 20-year-old Willie Bo was asleep in his car—allegedly with a handgun in his lap—when he was awakened by officers, who eventually opened fire. From Buzzfeed News : “Police were called to the fast-food restaurant in Vallejo around 10:30 p.m. Saturday after employees reported seeing a man ‘slumped over’ inside a silver Mercedes-Benz. When officers arrived, they found Willie James McCoy unresponsive in the driver’s seat with a handgun on his lap, police said. The car was locked and the transmission was shifted into the drive position, police said. ‘The two officers decided to hold their position and did not attempt to wake the driver,’ Vallejo police said in a statement. ‘Instead they decided to wait for additional officers to arrive on scene and ensure that people in the parking lot were safe and did not approach the vehicle.’ After additional officers arrived, police tried to open the driver’s side door, but were unsuccessful. Officers then positioned a patrol car in front of the Mercedes to prevent it from suddenly moving forward, and tried to move another patrol vehicle behind McCoy’s. It was at that time, police said, that the driver began to wake up and move.” According to the statement, which you can read in full here , “The driver began to suddenly move and looked at the uniformed patrol officers. Officers gave the driver several commands to put his hands up. The driver did not comply and instead moved his hands downward toward the firearm.” Six police officers opened fire on Willie Bo for approximately four seconds. The involved officers have reportedly been placed on administrate leave and the Solano County district attorney’s office is investigating the shooting. Willie Bo’s cousin David Harrsion took to Facebook to open up about his family’s horrific loss . “My little cousin was asleep in the car. A Libertarian journalist took aim at Harris’ admittance that she smoked weed while in college and tried to blow holes in her timeline, but the presidential hopeful never said what she’s being accused of by her critics. Crooks and Liars report : Turns out Nick Gillespie’s timeline calculations are a little off. He claims Harris says she smoked pot while listening to Snoop Dogg in college. She didn’t. Nick Gillespie followed up his lie with a lot of concern trolling about who Kamala Harris locked up while she was Attorney General of California. It’s fascinating how they can push the “Democrat open borders leads to MURDER” and the “Kamala Harris was a meanie prosecutor” memes at the same time. I’m sorry to break it to the tighty-whitey guys at Reason Magazine, but Kamala Harris is not talking to you. Thanks to the good sleuth work of Keith Boykin, it’s shown that Sen. Harris never said she listened to Snoop Dogg in college. She did say she smoked weed and listened to 2Pac and Snoop but she never offered a timeline nor linked it to her time in school. Further, she’s said she’s since stopped toking. In fairness, Harris still has her fair share of critics who won’t rest until they find a breaking point. In fact, some are noting under Boykin’s tweet that Harris was already working in her field and still lighting up but again, nothing has been confirmed. High enough to claim she listened to Tupac and @SnoopDogg as a student, though their debuts came after she graduated college ('86) and law school ('89). According to Buzzfeed News , on Saturday night six Vallejo, California, police officers were called to Taco Bell to check out Willie James McCoy (aka Willie Bo), who was slumped over” inside a silver Mercedes-Benz. When police arrived, McCoy, 20, was unresponsive. However, they saw a handgun in his lap, a gun that authorities later discovered was loaded and stolen from Oregon. “The two officers decided to hold their position and did not attempt to wake the driver,” police said in a statement. “Instead they decided to wait for additional officers to arrive on scene and ensure that people in the parking lot were safe and did not approach the vehicle.” After noticing that the car’s “transmission was in drive,” they couldn’t open the driver’s side door once additional officers arrived. That’s when the situation turned south. “The driver began to suddenly move and looked at the uniformed patrol officers,” officials said, BuzzFeed reported. “Officers gave the driver several commands to put his hands up. The driver did not comply and instead moved his hands downward toward the firearm.” Then, six police officers opened fire at McCoy for about four seconds, Buzzfeed noted. After the shooting, one of the officers reached through the broken glass and grabbed the handgun. While police claim they tried to perform CPR on McCoy, the young man was declared dead at the scene. McCoy’s cousin David Harrison told the Los Angeles Times that the Bay Area aspiring rapper was an “ambitious goodhearted kid.” “Willie was a goodhearted kid,” Harrison said. “He loved children. He was ambitious. There was no such things as friends for him. His friends were family.” Harrison also took to Facebook to warn Black parents to protect their children from the police. “You can’t just keep killing us in the streets like this,” adding, “My little cousin was asleep in the car. They shot him 20 mother f*cking times, in a mother f*cking car asleep.” The Solano County district attorney’s office is investigating the shooting. VIA | CNN (CNN) Despite the circumstances, Bill Cosby said his time in prison is an “amazing experience,” his press spokesman Andrew Wyatt said in a TV interview. Wait, really? “Yeah, he used the term amazing experience,” Wyatt said. Wyatt’s interview with WCAU in Philadelphia provides new details of Cosby’s time behind bars at SCI Phoenix, the prison outside Philadelphia. Cosby was sentenced in September to three to 10 years in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004. The case came after dozens of women came forward with accusations that Cosby had drugged and assaulted them in similar incidents over his lengthy career atop the comedy world.
