Black Girl Magic: Naturalista Ebonee Davis Named Among 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie Class!

SportsIllustratedSwimsuit/Taylor Ballantyne Ebonee Davis, Olivia Culpo And Hunter McGrady Named Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookies It’s that time of year again! Sports Illustrated is preparing to unleash their 54th annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, and we’re even more excited now that we just got the news via Swim Daily that Ebonee Davis has been named one of the final three models included in the 2018 SI Swimsuit Rookie class, alongside Olivia Culpo and Hunter McGrady . The other rookie models included this year are Alexis Ren, Sailor Brinkley Cook, Jasmyn Wilkins, Anne de Paula, Chase Carter, Georgia Gibbs, Kate Wasley, Raven Lyn and Robin Holzken. Ebonee actually took part in the annual model search competition previously, shooting for the magazine in 2016. After the competition wrapped, she explained, “after years of conforming to industry standards, I made the career-altering decision to go natural and became vocal about the racial bias I experienced during my time in the industry.” Then, she got the call from SI to shoot for this year’s issue and she said, “I am not only coming back as a rookie, I am coming back as Ebonee. The real me. Unapologetic and 100% true to myself.” We’re looking forward to the swimsuit pics, but in the meantime hit the flip to check out these lovely shots Ebonee posted from a shoot with V Magazine. Eric Garner’s Mother Gwen Says She Can’t Forgive Cops After Son’s Death

New Series “Two Sides” Examines The Lives & Legacies Of Those Who Died In Police Custody & Sparked Social Change The mother of Eric Garner said she still wrestles with forgiving the police officers who killed her son three years ago. “I pray every night to forgive,” Gwen Carr said of her son Eric Garner’s death. “Because you have to forgive for yourself. But when someone takes your child away, it’s so hard. I pray to God every night to forgive me because I haven’t forgiven them.” Garner died in the midst of an arrest in 2014, and his final words, “I can’t breathe,” ignited protests around the world. Carr said the lack of accountability in the death of Garner, a married father, makes it even worse. “Maybe in time when justice comes,” she said, “I will have a better sense of forgiveness in my heart. Because there has been no justice.” Garner’s life, death and the movement it sparked is one of the subjects of “Two Sides,” a new docu-series from TV One that examines four cases – Eric Garner, John Crawford, Sandra Bland and Ezell Ford – that became symbols in the social justice fight. Instead of reenactments, the series uses actual footage from the incidents and goes in-depth with the people who were involved. Oscar winner Viola Davis is one of the series’ executive producers, and her producing partner Lemuel Plummer said his goal for “Two Sides” was to “bridge the gap between black and blue.” “Two Sides” courtesy of TV One “We’re not taking a biased approach,” Plummer said, “We’re hearing from all sides. We want the audience walking away understanding why this is happening, and why police officers end up making these decisions.” Shante Needham, the sister of Sandra Bland, agreed with Carr, and said every day has been a struggle since losing her sibling, especially when she sees more cases of people dying at the hands of police officers. “Well of course, we have to forgive if we say we are children of God,” Needham said. “But it’s the act of forgetting. I still ask three years later, ‘Why?’ Why did they do this to my sister?” Needham added that she hoped viewers would see the show as a call to action. “When you see something, speak up,” she said. “Stop letting things go under the rug…so our kids and grandkids don’t have to come up in the manner we have.” “Two Sides” will air Jan. 22 on TV One. WELP: Man Arrested At Airport For Wearing 10 Layers Of Clothes To Avoid Luggage Fees

Getty Images Ryan Hawaii Goes Viral For Wearing 10 Layers Of Clothes At Airport A British man recently went viral after he decided to avoid baggage fees in a creative way. Ryan Williams a.k.a. “Ryan Hawaii” was held at Iceland Keflavik airport because he decided to wear every article of clothing he couldn’t fit in his checked bag. The clothing turned out to be eight pairs of pants and 10 shirts. According to The Daily Mail , Williams was reportedly trying to avoid additional baggage fees and at first, claimed that British Airlines was racial profiling him by not letting him board. @British_Airways hi being held at Iceland Keflavik airport because I had no baggage put all the clothes on and they still won't let me on. Racial profiling? Or….. pic.twitter.com/NKgpe1cPFP — Ryan Hawaii (@RYAN_HAWAII) January 10, 2018 He then alleged that he was unfairly arrested and maced by police. After being escorted from the airport, Hawaii returned two days later to try out the layered clothing tactic with another airline; Easy Jet. That apparently also failed miserably. And AGAIN! Refused from 2 flights in 2 days for no valid reason @easyJet @British_Airways thanks guys wonderful service pic.twitter.com/Ivoc0WZvXl — Ryan Hawaii (@RYAN_HAWAII) January 11, 2018 Hawaii has since clarified that he didn’t pile on his clothes to be funny, but because he was temporarily homeless and couldn’t afford the fee. To everyone reporting on my airport experience in Iceland. PLEASE STOP SAYING I was EVADING excess baggage fees….I couldn't AFFORD the fee (£90) as a result of being left homeless in Iceland for over a week. Paints a VERY different picture. Thankful that anyone cares tho. — Ryan Hawaii (@RYAN_HAWAII) January 16, 2018 Well damn. Both British Airways and EasyJet refunded Hawaii after the debacle and he was sent home on Norwegian Airlines.
