It’s Game 7. We’re live-blogging. I don’t think I need to explain why. Anyway, here are five keys to tonight’s game, because the ABC pregame show won’t tell you anything of substance. (I really want to see someone do an animated .gif of Magic Johnson talking with vuvuzelas in his hands). Pau Gasol I posted this

NBA 2010 Finals: Celtics vs Lakers Game 7 Final Score and Highlights

The is the greatest game that ever happened in the history of NBA. All eyes are in their television now. The scores didn’t reach hundreds, and scores are so close with each other. This only shows that both teams are giving defense on each other. Up to the last minute, no dull moments has been shown. First Quarter has been dominated by Celtics and closed the quarter with a score of 23-14. It was a quite a wide lead for a very tight game as that. The first half has been dominated solely by Celtics but Lakers is on very tight offense and trying to outscore. There has been fouls which made the margin of scores slimmer this time. It was already in the 4th Quarter at 10:53 when the lead of Celtics lowered down to 2 points. The whole Staples Center has become the noisiest crowd ever. At 7 minutes, the score tied to 61 all. Then again a three point shot was thrown for the Lakers outscoring Celtics. 30 seconds left and the lead of Lakers was cut down to 3. Celtics scored once more cutting to 2. Then a 2 perfect free throws from Lakers increasing the lead to 4 with only 11 seconds left. Finally, the awesome game ended with an official score of 79-83 in favor of Lakers. It was awesome game. See you all again next season. NBA 2010 Finals: Celtics vs Lakers Game 7 Final Score and Highlights is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

Arkansas AD: ‘No Interest In Joining Another Conference’

If Arkansas is, in fact, considering a move west to the Big 12, they’re certainly doing a bang-up job of hiding their intentions. Athletic director Jeff Long’s statement would seem to leave no wiggle room for speculation: In recent weeks and months, there has been much national dialogue regarding conference affiliation in intercollegiate athletics. In the course of that dialogue, some have suggested that the University of Arkansas was an institution that may be pursued by other conferences. From the beginning, we have been very clear that the University of Arkansas is a proud member of the Southeastern Conference and has no interest in joining another conference. Chancellor [Dave] Gearhart has been unwavering in his support of our institution’s continued membership in the SEC. Recent events have not in any way altered our commitment or desire to remain a member of what we believe is the strongest conference in the nation. For the uninitiated, these rumors show up with comfortable regularity ’round Fayetteville way this time of year,

Texas Legislators, Still Hustlin’: Houston To The Big 12?

Texan politicians of various stripes are legendary for their ability to shape the landscape of college football. (The most notorious example of this is then-governor Ann Richards’ lobbying for the inclusion of Baylor in the Big 12.) It should come as no real surprise, then, that a large-ish group of legislators isn’t through turning the conference this way and that, and their desires are fixed on Houston : State Reps. Garnet Coleman and Bill Callegari, both from the Houston area, co-wrote a letter Thursday asking Big 12 officials to consider adding the university to the conference. “UH is the third largest university in Texas, and is on track to rank among the top research universities in this state,” the letter says. “Despite UH’s local and statewide prominence, the university does not belong to a strong BCS conference such as the Big 12. The Cougars, the city of Houston, and the state of Texas deserve better.” It’s frankly not a bad idea. Houston’s a sizable TV market (though likely already saturated thanks to the sprawling reach of the Texas alumni base), and their football team, ranked first in the nation in total, passing, and scoring offense in 2009, would do the popular conception of defense-free Big 12 football proud. The move would also be a step towards healing a semantic rift. Texans are a pragmatic people, and the thought of them continuing to field a 10-team conference named “12” just doesn’t sit well. (Leave the imaginary numbers for those fancy lads up north.)

Lakers Rally Past Celtics for NBA Title

Filed under: NBA Finals Make it back-to-back for the Los Angeles Lakers . In a hotly-contested battle decided in the final frame, the Lakers edged the Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals to win their 16th franchise championship. The Lakers became the first repeat champion since they won three straight from 2000-02. Kobe Bryant struggled from the field for much of the game, especially from 3-point range, but caught fire when it mattered most — the fourth quarter. Bryant hit two free throws in the fourth to give the Lakers their first lead of the second half, then drilled a jumper on the next possession to make it 68-64 Lakers with 5:21 left in the game. The NBA Finals MVP finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds as he took home his fifth career title. The Celtics took a 40-34 lead into halftime during the sloppy game, but Los Angeles closed the gap and stormed out to the lead behind Bryant’s rebound effort and the strong inside presence from Pau Gasol , who tallied 19 points and 18 rebounds. Boston was attempting to win an unprecedented 18th championship. This year’s NBA Finals earned the highest TV ratings for the finals since 2004.

Tim Howard Turns Tourette’s from Challenge Into Advantage

Watch Tim Howard as he glides with acrobatic grace through the crosshairs, making whiplash saves and reading the ball as if it were a child’s book. He is generally so clear-headed, so cool in the heat of all that mayhem, and when the match is over, when the anxiety that rivals running through traffic has simmered, Howard bolts for the locker room and inhales peace. It’s not exactly fair to say soccer saved Howard, because the bubble that nurtures him is ripe with his Christian faith, his family and an extended athletic Rolodex that stretches from North Brunswick, N.J., where he was raised, to the cathedrals of the English Premier League, where his airborne feats have tweaked the perception of the United States as a country not quite ready for the beautiful game. Howard is the 31-year-old goaltender who Friday will be the last line of defense for the U.S. national team in a World Cup Group C game against tiny Slovenia. He also happens to have Tourette Syndrome (TS), a condition that these days is far less worrisome than the bruised ribs that have been screaming ever since an English player slammed into Howard cleats-first, at full speed, in a collision during last Saturday’s match.

Chipper Jones Doesn’t Want Retirement Talk To Obscure Braves Season

Holding court in front of his locker Thursday afternoon , Chipper Jones said, “I just want to put the cork back in the bottle” regarding the talk about his presumed impending retirement. While that isn’t likely to achieve the desired effect, Chipper won’t accommodate those looking for him to discuss the subject – claiming he won’t address his career status again until the season is over. Jones told the assembled media that he didn’t want to take the focus off a Braves team currently sitting at first place in the NL East, or from Bobby Cox’s final season as manager for that club. He said that he had met earlier in the day with team president John Schuerholz. Not that he was entirely cagey about his intentions. At one point in the proceedings, he said, “Let’s face it, we all know which way I’m leaning.” For all intents and purposes, it’s likely then that this is the final season of his career, but it won’t be made official one way or the other until the 2010 season is over. It won’t stop the media from discussing the possibility, but it will keep reporters from hounding him and his teammates about hints regarding his position. Jones was not scheduled to be in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Rays, but Cox said he was simply giving Jones the night off.

Kristen Stewart Relates To Bella ‘Generally’ In ‘Eclipse’

‘I know what it feels like to be unsure,’ actress tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News It’s not every day that one has to reconcile their romantic feelings toward a sparkling vampire and a hunky werewolf, but it’s an emotional conflict Bella Swan faces on a regular basis in the “Twilight” series. While it’s not a struggle Kristen Stewart deals with in her own personal life, that doesn’t mean the 20-year-old actress doesn’t bring her own experiences into her portrayal of the angst-ridden Bella . “You are who you are,” Stewart told MTV News while promoting “Eclipse,” the upcoming third installment in the “Twilight” series. “Everything that I’ve been through definitely informs the way I feel about everything I play, because you can’t claim to be a different person just because you’re playing Bella.” Even though Stewart finds her personal experiences helpful in informing her performance, the actress said she tries not to draw upon specific anecdotes while working. “I try not to be specific about it, though, because it gets muddled,” she explained. “You’re not playing yourself, so if you start putting your personal details in [a performance], it confuses things. But, definitely, I feel generally inspired, if I can relate to something.” As for the aspects of her character Stewart relates to most, the young actress revealed: “I know what it feels like to be unsure. I know what it feels like to be ashamed and having made mistakes and going, ‘Hey, it’s totally OK to have made that mistake!’ I get that, but not specifically.” We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24. Steve Zahn Plays ‘My Favorite Scene’ With Movieline

Earlier this month, Steve Zahn rang Movieline from his Kentucky farm to discuss Treme , HBO’ s ensemble drama about post-Katrina New Orleans. As his character, Davis McAlary — a charismatic disc jockey, amateur politician, and advanced stoner — grows frustrated with the Big Easy’s gradual recovery from disaster, so too have some Treme viewers grown frustrated with David Simon’s sprawling series. Hopefully, this Sunday’s finale will remind audiences why they enjoyed the series when it first premiered in April, and to celebrate the conclusion of his freshman year at HBO, Steve Zahn joined us for a round of the age-old Movieline classic, My Favorite Scene.
