Pledge Your Allegiance To The Diplomats The national anthem is under fire since it was discovered the third verse is a celebration of slavery. Given America’s tenuous relationship with slavery and the current happenings with Colin Kaepernick’s protest, someone came up with a possible solution to this problem. Dero Anthony, he of @DesusAndMero fame, started a petition to change the current national anthem to The Diplomats’ “Dipset Anthem.” Via XXL Ironically enough, the idea of America being the “land of the free” could one day lead to the song those words inhabit no longer being the National Anthem. Recently, a man named Dero Anthony used his freedom of speech to try and do just that. On Friday, Anthony started an online petition to have the Dipset’s eponymous track “Dipset Anthem” replace Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spangled Banner” as the national anthem. “The current National Anthem is BS,” reads Anthony’s very straightforward description for his petition. The petition already has over 1700 signatures. With Anthony’s petition gaining a bit of momentum, we have to wonder how Colin Kaepernick would feel about signing it. After all, it was probably his decision to reject the National Anthem at NFL preseason games that inspired Anthony to create the petition in the first place. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said, explaining the motivation behind his controversial protest. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” If you’d like to see the U.S. adopt “Dipset Anthem” as its National Anthem, you can sign the petition here . SMH: Rachel Dolezal Set To Appear At A Natural Hair Rally Of course none of us could forget the greatest cultural appropriator in history, Rachel Dolezal . The white woman who caused a national debate about race after posed as an black woman for over a decade. She’s kept a low profile since the media circus she caused last year but it looks like she is back for round two. According to The Daily Beast , Rachel will be headlining a natural hair rally for braiding this weekend. Here’s the plot twist though, Dolezal says she was invited via Facebook by celebrity stylist, natural hair activist Isis Brantley. For those of you who didn’t know, Dolezal has been making a living braiding hair since losing her job as professor and resigning from the NAACP. Fans and supporters were of course, outraged by the mere thought of Rachel being apart of such an event, despite Brantley insisting that she was not a keynote speaker at the event but rather there for greeting and solidarity. Ex-supporters believe that Brantley’s tactic is merely to get more people and media for her event and is truly a “slap right in the face.” Would you guys agree? Knife-Wielding Clown Chases Ohip Teenager From Bus Stop Earlier this week we reported on an incident in South Carolina where a clown was reportedly stalking children from the woods near an apartment building playground. Welp, according to NBCNews , South Carolina isn’t the only place with a killer clown problem… There has been another creepy clown encounter — this time in Columbus, Ohio. A 14-year-old boy heading to a school bus stop Tuesday morning told police he was chased by a black-clad man armed with a knife — and wearing a clown mask, police said. “The victim was able to get away from him by throwing a rock at him,” said police spokeswoman Denise Alex-Bouzounis, who added that police are now canvassing the area in search of the suspect and keeping a close eye on the bus stop in north Columbus near where the incident occurred. “We don’t know whether this was a prank or not, but we are taking it seriously,” she said. The alleged attack on the teenager came as police down in South Carolina were investigating multiple reports of menacing clowns allegedly trying to lure children to an abandoned house in the woods.
