The Gulliver’s Travels Trailer: Where the Laughs Are Lilliputia

You most likely didn’t have high hopes for Gulliver’s Travels anyway — the poster looks like one of those spoof movies in Tropic Thunder — but goodness is this trailer truly awful . It would be tempting to wonder how far Jack Black has fallen, but since he did star in Year One all bets are clearly off.

McDonald’s Forced to Recall 12 Million Shrek Drinking Glasses

No wonder Shrek is green. McDonald’s is being forced to recall 12 million Shrek Forever After -themed drinking glasses because the painted design — which the AP story hilariously calls “cheap” — contains the toxic metal cadmium. And — wouldn’t you know it — cadmium is a known carcinogen that can cause bone softening and severe kidney problems. Good job, everyone! Do you want fries with that? [ MSNBC ]

SHOCKER! Eat Pray Love Receives PG-13 on Appeal

Sony and director Ryan Murphy may not have had much to say about their strategy to reverse Eat Pray Love ‘s initial R-rating, but either way it worked. Murphy and producer Dede Gardner successfully (and perhaps predictably) made their case for a softer rating, turing an R for “brief strong language” into a PG-13 for “brief strong language, some sexual references and male rear nudity.” Yeah, it makes no sense to me either, but all that matters is that all those pending mother-daughter bonding trips are on . Team Michael Bay Officially Welcomes ‘Rosie Huntington-Whitely’ [SIC] to Transformers 3

Victoria’s Secret model, Girlfriend of Statham and human product placement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley received an official introduction today by way of MichaelBay.com — which left the second “E” out of her surname, but hey. With RHW’ s sultry, nude Russian Harper’s Bazaar cover providing the accompaniment, no one’s reading the words anyway. That said, there is some news about shooting that’s currently underway in L.A. (and soon to follow elsewhere) if you’re interested.

Deadline reports that original co-star Charles Grodin — who had been left out of the initial sequel plans — has been contacted and would likely consider returning. Grodin hasn’t appeared on screen since 1994 — and no, his brief showing in the forgettable Zach Braff film, The Ex doesn’t count — instead spending his time being a parent and volunteering as an advocate for poor, first-time offenders. Still, God love Midnight Run , but if Grodin is ready to return to feature films, shouldn’t he have something better planned than an unnecessary sequel? Here are five roles he should consider.

Rick Baker Pushes Envelope on Wolfman’s Makeup FX, Passive-Aggression

Universal’s misconceived, underperforming The Wolfman is out on DVD and Blu-ray, which has given makeup-effects wizard Rick Baker an opportunity to elaborate a little on how the film achieved its Benicio Del Toro-to-werewolf transformations. In short: Frustratingly! But that’s OK!
