The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Ben Affleck has been tapped as the next actor to crusade while donning a certain iconic cape: yes, the Oscar winner will star as Batman opposite Henry Cavill in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel . The project was announced at Comic-Con, with speculation running wild over who will take over for Christian Bale. Names such as Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin had been rumored for week But it looks like Affleck – who will also play the lead in Gone Girl and who was panned for his performance as a superhero in Daredevil – has swooped in and taken the role in a blockbuster that will open in July 2015. It has been confirmed by TNT and by the actor’s publicist: Lee Thompson Young took his own life today at the age of 29. The rising television star, who had helped anchor Rizzoli & Isles for the past three years, got his start in 1998 on The Famous Jett Jackson and also appeared on episodes of such hits as Smallville and Scrubs. We’re told … when the landlord opened the door, he discovered Young’s body. Young was a rising star in Hollywood. After he made it big as a Disney star, he went on to play running back Chris Comer in the 2004 movie “Friday Night Lights.” Story developing … Wow! Prayers go out to his family. “Free Willy” Actor August Schellenberg Dead At 77 According to TMZ August Schellenberg — who played Jesse’s Native American mentor in “Free Willy” — has died Thursday in Texas after a long battle with cancer … TMZ has learned. Schellenberg’s family tells TMZ … August died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. 77-year-old Schellenberg had a long and storied career in Hollywood — often playing Native American characters. In fact, he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role as Chief Sitting Bull in “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.” August appeared in all 3 “Free Willy” movies.
