Jan-Michael Vincent Dies; Airwolf Star Was 74

Jan-Michael Vincent, a veteran actor best known for his role in the 1980s action series Airwolf, has passed away from cardiac arrest. He was 74 years old. According to TMZ, which broke this sad piece of new, Vincent actually passed away back on February 10 at a North Carolina hospital. The celebrity gossip outlet adds that the actor was cremated and that no autopsy was performed. As for his acting resume, Vincent had not been seen in anything since the 2002 film White Boy. But he was an enormous star during the heyday of Airwolf, raking in the most money of any actor on television at the time at $200,000 per episode. The series centered on his helicopter pilot character of Stringfellow Hawke, yet only lasted a couple seasons (from 198 4 through 1986) because Vincent fell victim to cocaine abuse. His career would suffer from this addiction and Vincent would develop an infection in 2012 that caused his right leg to be amputated. Prior to striking it big with Airwolf, Vincent starred alongside Burt Reynolds in 1978’s Hooper and alongside Kim Basinger in 1981’s Hard Country. He was nominated for Golden Globes for his work in 1971’s Going Home and the 1983 miniseries The Winds Of War, while also enjoying a key role in John Millius’ beloved surfing drama Big Wednesday. In addition to Airwolf, Vincent appeared in a number of other TV series, such as Police Story, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Nash Bridges. Following his passing, a number of fans quickly jumped on social media to lament Vincent’s death, with one tweeting: “Rest in Peace Jan-Michael Vincent. “He had been in bad shape for several years, but we choose to remember him as the cool, sexy guy he was on Airwolf.” “Rest in Peace Jan-Michael Vincent. “He had been in bad shape for several years, but we choose to remember him as the cool, sexy guy he was on Airwolf.” Added screenwriter Brian Lynch: “RIP Jan-Michael Vincent. Luke Perry’s Daughter Speaks Out Following His Tragic Death

Luke Perry’s daughter is speaking out following the shocking loss of her father.  Sophie Perry, the actor’s 18-year-old daughter, who he shares with ex-wife Rachel “Minnie” Sharp, shared a photo of her and the late Beverly Hills, 90210 star on Tuesday, the day after Perry’s shocking death . The beloved actor passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a stroke last week. Sophie is expressing her gratitude for all of the continuing love and support that friends, family, and even strangers have offered in the wake of her father’s death. “In the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support,” she captioned a photo to Instagram.  “I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.” Understandably, the young adult asks for patience as she learns how to cope with this tragic life-changing experience.  She shares, “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bare with me and know that I am grateful for all the love.”  “Just being grateful quietly,” she ended the touching post.  Days before his death, Sophie was doing volunteer work in Malawi. However, she jumped on a flight home to California as soon as she learned of her father’s massive stroke. “A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family,” she says. Sophie is not mourning alone, Shannen Doherty has been deeply impacted by the loss of Luke, who played her former onscreen love in  90210. “Yesterday morning I got a phone call that devastated me,” Shannen said of Perry on social media. “I’m struggling with this loss and am having a hard time with my thoughts. But, my heart goes out to his family and friends who were blessed by his light in their (and mine) lives.” Riverdale co-stars also share tributes to their “show dad.” In a statement from the Riverdale crew, Warner Bros. TV and The CW, Luke was praised for his work and his character. “We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. According to TMZ , people on the Empire set believe that Jussie used a hate crime attack on Lee Daniels’ cousin as source material for his alleged attack. The theory is that some Empire employees believe that this is where the wheels in Jussie’s head started to turn. That maybe he could be come what is described as an “LGBT hero”. This story is bad enough as it is. We really hope Jussie didn’t stage a hate crime based on a real hate crime.

Source: Nuccio DiNuzzo / Getty Smollett Reportedly Told Police He Is Suffering From An Untreated Drug Problem Jussie Smollett reportedly told authorities he was suffering from an untreated drug problem. According to TMZ , the actor made the claim Thursday while surrendering to police on a felony count of disorderly conduct for filing a false report. Smollett is believed to have purchased drugs from one of the brothers who allegedly helped him stage the phony hate crime. Prosecutors claimed to have reviewed text messages indicating one of the brothers sold Smollett “designer drugs” on many occasions. Legal documents also reportedly show Smollett answering “no” when asked if he had any alcohol or mental health problems. Smollett was released from police custody Thursday on $100,000 bond. He’s expected to enter a plea at his next court hearing March 14

Brody Stevens, Beloved Comedian and Actor, Dead of Apparent Suicide

Brody Stevens, a stand-up comedian and actor best known to many for his role in The Hangover, was found dead on Friday of an apparent suicide. He was 48 years old. Reads a statement from Brody’s rep, released shortly after this sad piece of news was made public: “Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community. He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious. “He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. “We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.” Stevens reportedly took his own life via hanging. Over the years, Stevens had been very candid regarding his struggles with depression and anxiety. On his Comedy Central show, Brody Stevens: Enjoy It , the writer and his friends often talked about his mental state and the challenges he overcame both prior to making it big and even as he grew more and more famous. In one clip, Zach Galifianakis said the following: “Brody was really in a dark place… I think he thought that was how his life was going to be and I think that got him depressed.” According to The Blast sources, Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to the Brody’s home around 1 p.m. on Friday. This website has obtained audio from the emergency dispatchers, where officials described the scene as a “hanging.” That said, no official cause of death has been announced just yet. Stevens appeared as Officer Foltz in the 2009 comedy The Hangover. He was also in The Hangover Part II as Kingsley Guy, which was his last feature-length film role. The star had also stopped by talk shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, while serving as regular panelist on Chelsea Lately. In 2015, he appeared in the short films Near Fall and Alone Together. Now that  Jussie Smollett has been arrested for falsifying a police report, we have a much clearer idea of how the actor went about staging his own assault. Allegedly, that is. Courtesy of documents filed by prosecutors at Smollett's bond hearing on February 21, we know when Smollett contacted the men who would help his go through with this scheme… what the original plan was between the trio… and what Smollett provided these men with in order to carry out the supposed assault. Again: Allegedly, that is. The details described here are chilling and disturbing. Scroll down to get a fuller picture of exactly what Smollett is accused orchestrating. 1. Smollett is Free on $100,000 Bond He was released from jail on Thursday afternoon and rushed to a waiting SUV, not saying anything to the throng of reporters gathered around him as he made his way to the car. 2. What Has He Been Charged with Again? Felony disorderly conduct – for falsifying a police report. The charge he faces carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail. 3. The Judge Comes Down Hard During Thursday’s proceedings, members of Smollett’s family were in the courtroom with him as the judge, John Fitzgerald Lyke Jr., said that he found the investigators’ account of the incident disturbing, especially the assertion that Smollett had used a rope around his neck to heighten outrage. 4. What Did the Judge Say? “We live in a country where you are presumed innocent,” he told the actor “However, if these allegations are true, I find them utterly outrageous. Especially the violent, despicable use of a noose, which conjures such evil in our country.” 5. As for the Details in These Legal Documents? They start with the letters sent to Smollett on the set of Empire. It remains a little ambiguous whether police believe Smollett sent them to himself, but they contained a powerdery white substance. 6. Was It Anthrax? A few hours later, Superintendent Eddie Johnson held a press conference where he laid out some of the police department’s findings and explained his frustration with what he calls a “concocted story”. Source: Xilla Valentine / GlobalGrind Hours after being charged with felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report, Jussie Smollett turned himself in to Chicago PD early Thursday morning, another twist in the now bizarre case following his alleged assault by two men on January 29. “Jussie [Smollett] is under arrest and in custody of detectives,” CPD spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi announced Thursday morning, adding that a press briefing is expected shortly ahead of Smollett’s court appearance. In a separate  statement , CPD deputy director of news affairs Tom Ahern further specified that Smollett was in the custody of detectives. Press Briefing: Jussie Smollet is under arrest and in custody of detectives. At 9am at #ChicagoPolice Headquarters, Supt Eddie Johnson, Commander of Area Central Detectives Edward Wodnicki will brief reporters on the investigation prior to the defendants appearance in court. pic.twitter.com/YonrLkc724 — Chicago Police (@Chicago_Police) February 21, 2019 Smollett alleged that two white men beat him, poured bleach on him and placed a noose around his neck while screaming, “This is MAGA country!” But as details continued to emerge and CPD continued their investigation, the story became too crazy to be believed, even by Empire standards. As the story unfolded, it turned out that it was two brothers, Ola and Abel Osundairo who were Smollett’s “attackers”. They were not white but actually Nigerian and formerly worked as extras on the show. Yesterday, a video emerged of the Osundairo brothers caught on surveillance video purchasing some of the items that were used in the “attack”. Smollett has continued to cooperate with the police during the investigation but spoke publicly about the incident to both  Good Morning America and in concert in Los Angeles where he told a crowd that he “ fought the f*ck back ” and jokingly referred to himself as “ the gay 2Pac .” The felony charge of disorderly conduct for filing a false report carries a maximum sentence of up to three years in prison.
