‘Rock Of Ages’ Star Recalls ‘Jamming’ With Tom Cruise

‘It was pretty surreal jamming out with Tom singing ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ ‘ Diego Boneta tells MTV News of their joint guitar lessons. By Amy Wilkinson Tom Cruise in “Rock of Ages” Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures For his breakout role in the movie adaptation of the Broadway hit ” Rock of Ages ,” Diego Boneta could not have asked for a bigger — or better — co-star than Hollywood vet Tom Cruise . “He’s the hardest-working guy we’ve ever met in our lives,” Boneta said, speaking for himself and co-star Julianne Hough. “He’s so humble. I think that combination is something that really stuck with me. This is my first movie; this is Tom’s, like, 50th movie. That is a rare and very special combination.” In the film, Boneta plays aspiring musician Drew Boley, a barback at the Sunset Strip’s Bourbon Room, where Cruise’s rock god Stacee Jaxx is set to perform his band’s final show before embarking on a solo career. The role took months of preparation for the 21-year-old and his seasoned co-star, and despite their varied experience in the industry, both had to start at the beginning when it came to mastering the fundamentals of rock and roll. “Tom and I were taking guitar classes together because we both had to learn how to play guitar, and it was pretty surreal jamming out with Tom singing ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ ” Boneta recalled. “He was playing the solo, and I was playing all the chords and stuff.” Though this is Boneta’s first film role, he may be familiar to TV audiences from appearances on teen favorites “90210” and “Pretty Little Liars.” Next up, the actor will star in the new MTV series “Underemployed.” “Rock of Ages,” which also stars Russell Brand, Malin Akerman and Catherine Zeta-Jones, hits theaters June 15. Happy Birthday, Shia LaBeouf!

Shia LaBeouf turns 26 years old today, but let’s hope the actor doesn’t celebrate with a lot of drinking. The guy isn’t exactly known for holding his alcohol well . Instead, the star is has sky-rocketed the approximately the B-list by anchoring a trio of Transformers films, though he’s on record as saying he’s done with the Michael Bay-directed franchise. LaBeouf will next be seen in Lawless, which hits theaters on August 31. But LaBeouf will forever be remembered not for any Academy Award-winning roles, but for the admission he made approximately one year ago: this lucky douchebag totally had sex with Megan Fox . Damn him. So send your best birthday wishes or your most bitter rants to LaBeouf now and also take note of other stars celebrating the anniversaries of their birth: Joshua Jackson (34), Hugh Laurie (53), Joe Montana (56) and Jacques Cousteau (posthumous).

McConaughey, 42, and Alves, 29, a Brazilian model and designer who the actor has told friends “the love of my life,” kept quiet about the wedding. Even some guests didn’t know about it until the last minute, despite the reports hit the web that the two would be getting married this weekend . After the ceremony, the guests didn’t have to worry about going far, as the Magic Mike star got married and held the reception at his house. The coolest part? Guests camped out in dozens of luxury tents erected on Matthew’s property, each with its own patio and air-conditioning unit. It’s Texas in June after all. Josh Hutcherson Wants ‘Some Sort Of Friendship’ With Kristen Stewart

‘Hunger Games’ star reconnects with his ‘Zathura’ co-star at the MTV Movie Awards for the first time in five years. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Josh Hutcherson backstage at the MTV Movie Awards Photo: MTV News “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight” collided over the weekend at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards when Josh Hutcherson ran into his “Zathura” co-star backstage. “I actually got to talk to Kristen Stewart tonight for the first time in five years, at least,” Hutcherson revealed to MTV News. “That was awesome to connect with her again, especially after everything that’s happened to the both of us [with ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Hunger Games’]. It’s nice to just kind of be able to talk again and hopefully have some sort of friendship. She’s fantastic.” “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” slayed the dystopian thriller out of the Best Kiss and Movie of the Year awards, but the actor promised there are no hard feelings between the two franchises. “Honestly, you know what? I’ve never really felt it to be a competition. And I wish I could pretend like it was ’cause it’d be fun, [but] it’s so not. Their cast is fantastic, our cast is fantastic and there’s never been any bloodshed. … Not yet,” he teased. Hutcherson certainly didn’t go home empty handed. Thanks to his adoring fans, he took home the Golden Popcorn for Best Fight along with the honor of Best Male Performance . “Just to be here is always fun, and then to be nominated on top of that is amazing, but to actually win something is surreal,” he said. “Best Male means so much to me. The people I was in that category with, like Ryan Gosling, I’ve said publicly how much I want to be him. The fact that I’m considered on the somewhat same level, it’s just mind-blowing.” The excitement for the actor didn’t stop there. He caught one of the most iconic performances of Movie Awards history when Johnny Depp took the stage with the Black Keys to perform “Gold on the Ceiling.” “I missed Fun., which I was disappointed in ’cause I wasn’t there — as one does when they miss something,” he laughed. “But Depp and Black Keys, one of my favorite actors and one of my favorite bands combined, I was just like, my mind was exploding. It was incredible. “I was like, ‘How are there not more people losing their minds?’ ” he added. “It was pretty insane. I didn’t know he played the guitar, let alone could be a rock guy rockin’ out and do all these things. It was pretty awesome.” And like everyone else with a semblance of interest in this summer’s box office, Hutcherson was thrilled to take in some never-before-seen footage of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” “I’m a huge Batman fan. Growing up I actually thought I was Batman,” he said. “I wore a Batman mask and cape around until I was like 14 years old. For me, that movie is going to be the most epic thing of the summer, for sure.” Once he helps Katniss save the citizens of Panem, maybe he can take over Christian Bale’s role and rid Gotham of its evil? ” No. No way,” he said with a laugh. “Bruce Wayne, I have to stay away from that. It’s too much.”
