Daniel Radcliffe ‘Very Excited’ To Host ‘SNL’

‘It’s the real deal. You live or die on that show,’ Radcliffe tells MTV News. By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News Daniel Radcliffe made the jump to Broadway star shortly after ending his run as the world’s most famous boy wizard, but on Saturday, he’s taking an even bigger step: He’s hosting “Saturday Night Live.” Radcliffe knew that’s not something you do without some careful consideration, and he told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz that he had to give it some thought before agreeing to host. “I had to think about it a little bit, because it’s the real deal. You live or die on that show,” he said. “Ultimately, it was a no-brainer because I was working with John Larroquette [in ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’] at the time as well. He hosted a bunch of times when he was younger.” Not that it took a lot of convincing. Radcliffe also just really wanted to work with the castmembers he admires. “I love Seth Meyers . Bill Hader , I think, is just unbelievable. That Alan Alda impression, just mind-blowing,” he said. Part of what is so enticing to Radcliffe about hosting is the immense challenge of it. “It will be the kind of stuff I like, that kind of guerrilla style of getting stuff done when you just have to get it done,” he said. “Nothing else matters. You have to do it. You have to achieve. By the end of the week, you’re going to be putting on an hour-and-a-half music-and-comedy show from scratch.” Work for Radcliffe’s episode started on Monday, and the actor said he is “very excited,” and he is even bringing some ideas of his own. “But they’re going to be crap,” Radcliffe said. “I’ve got a couple ideas, yes, but I don’t know that mine are going to end up onscreen because they’ve got a very experienced team of writers there.” Daniel Radcliffe’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” with musical guest Lana Del Rey, airs this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET. Local police says the melee started after a man in Renner’s party, Vorasit Issara, dropped a glass on the floor. A group of workers – with whom Vorasit has been arguing – proceeded to attack Issara, Renner and their friends, with the former getting stabbed in the neck and the stomach with a knife. All six men who initiated the attack were arrested, while the actor’s rep said he left the scene as quickly as he could once the fight escalated. [Photo: WENN.com]

Katy Perry and Russell Brand: It’s Over!!

The Internet may be a “wicked little liar,” to use Russell Brand’s words, a great deal of the time. But apparently not in this sad case. He’s divorcing Katy Perry. Just 24 hours after Russell was spotted sans wedding ring in London, with Katy 7,000 miles away with friends in Hawaii, the actor filed the papers this afternoon. Brand personally confirmed the news, saying in a statement: “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” Brand cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split in the official divorce documents, filed in Los Angeles Friday. The couple married October 23, 2010. The documents list “community property assets,” which may indicate a lack of prenup, or one that does not account for all their earnings and other assets. The news is surprising and yet not, given recent reports that the couple had been having problems and spending time apart, possibly following a massive fight . He does not list a date the couple separated, but TMZ reports that Russell Brand may have blindsided Katy Perry by filing the divorce petition. Stay tuned. [Photo: WENN.com]

Matthew McConaughey Engaged To Camila Alves

Couple have two children together and have been dating since 2006. By Jocelyn Vena Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey Photo: Joe Scarnici/Getty Images Two kids and nearly six years later, Matthew McConaughey popped the question to his longtime lady love, model Camila Alves, over the holiday weekend. Her answer? A big yes! The actor confirmed the engagement on Twitter. “Just asked camila to marry me, merry Christmas,” he tweeted on Christmas Day, also posting a photo of him and Alves kissing next to Christmas decorations. The couple have a 3-year-old son, Levi, and a daughter, Vida, who turns 2 next month. In the March issue of Esquire, the actor gushed about his bride-to-be. “Before this, I had a super home in the Hollywood Hills that I did by myself — landscaping, detailing pretty much everything. But that house was mine. And yeah, we coulda gone in there right away. Camila would have said, ‘Fine, don’t change a thing.’ But I thought, ‘I found the woman I wanna do it with, the woman I wanna make a family with, hopefully live our life out together.’ She needs to have 50 percent of that,” he said. “I mean, it’s a lot easier for me to be at 100 percent. I’d always been 100 percent. It’s braver for me at 50 percent.” In September 2008, McConaughey opened up to People about Alves, calling her “the love of my life.” The two began dating in 2006. “I always wanted to be a father and thought it would be great, but it just took the right woman and the right time to make it all happen,” he said. “We’re a family now. I see the future and it’s clearer to me now. Walking around with this cool responsibility all the time, it’s a wonderful thing.” Share your well-wishes with the newly engaged couple in the comments below!

Taylor Lautner ‘Out & Proud’ People Cover A Fake

Fabricated cover touts an exclusive interview with the ‘Twilight’ actor about his sexuality. By Gil Kaufman The fake Taylor Lautner People magazine cover The January 7 cover of People magazine that touts an exclusive interview with “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner about his sexuality is a fake. The mocked-up cover hit the Web on Monday and instantly raised eyebrows with its claims of an exclusive story titled “Out & Proud.” A spokesperson for People confirmed to GossipCop.com that the cover — complete with other celeb images that are five years old — is “absolutely fake” but would not comment further when contacted by MTV News. The Internet joke that began with a Twitter post comes just a few months after GQ Australia was forced to issue an apology to the actor after he took issue with a line of questioning in the interview. The actor was asked whether he was hit on during a meeting with director Gus Van Sant and “Milk” writer Dustin Lance Black, who are both openly gay. “It’s not a coincidence that there was a writer, a director and an actor at dinner,” Lautner told GQ about the professional meal. “No, definitely not. I think they know I’m straight. But they’re great guys. They’re a lot of fun.” Days after the interview made its way online; Black took to his blog to weigh in on the magazine’s line of questioning. “Really Mr. GQ writer? I’m curious, will you be asking all of the handsome actors I’ve ever had the privilege of working with or meeting if I made passes at them as well?” he wrote. “I’d love to be there when you ask Sean Penn that same question. Or, Mr. GQ writer, were you projecting your own unprofessional desires onto me and Gus? Perhaps? Or worse still, are you a homophobe? “Above and beyond this clear attack on my character, I’m shocked that GQ would allow their writer to lean on the scurrilous, outdated stereotype that gay men are by nature sexual predators,” he continued. “I mean, would you have asked this same question if it were Diablo Cody and Kathryn Bigelow at dinner with Mr. Lautner? Leaning on lies, myths and stereotypes about gay people is hateful, harmful and outdated.” The combination of the blowback from Black and other Internet commenters forced the magazine to issue an apology on its Facebook page. “We’ve seen some of the comments floating around regarding our recent interview with Taylor Lautner and apologise if anyone was offended by anything in the article. It certainly wasn’t our intention to paint anyone in the story as a sexual predator,” the statement reads. “The point we were actually trying to push was that Taylor is irresistible to virtually everyone — regardless of sexuality or gender. Hence the film crew cheering at his shirtless scenes while shooting ‘Twilight,’ and Mark Wahlberg deeming him better looking than Leonardo DiCaprio.” Related Videos MTV First: Taylor Lautner

Former Co-Star Blasts Will Smith as Egomaniacal "A–hole"

And the award for Most Unexpected Feud of the Week goes to… A few days after Will Smith posted a photo on his Facebook (below) of him and fellow cast members from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, many wondered: where was actress Janet Hubet, who portrayed the character of Smith’s aunt, Vivian, for multiple seasons? The answer, according to Hubert herself: Nowhere to be found near the former star of that sitcom… and don’t expect that to change any time soon. “I will never do anything with an a–hole like Will Smith,” Hubert told TMZ. “He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word.” Hubert believes Smith got her fired in 1993, halfway through the show’s run, because she refused to kiss up to the actor. He, of course, tells a different version, claiming Hubert was simply bitter because he instantly got a major break in the acting business, while she struggled for 10 years. But both agree on one thing apparently: “To her I’m just the AntiChrist,” Smith told an Atlanta radio station.
