About That Time Magic Mike Extras Ripped Matthew McConaughey’s Thong Right Off

In EW’s upcoming cover interview, Magic Mike stars Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey fondly remember the moment on set when excited extras tasked with stuffing McConaughey’s man-thong with dollar bills accidentally (or not) ripped the banana hammock right off. What’s that, EW? You want me to watch a behind-the-scenes video of McConaughey striking poses while Tatum splashes around breakdancing in a pool of water? Well, fine . (To peek at Tatum stepping up to the McConaughey in said video, head here .) It took me a good while to come to terms with just how much I actually really want to see Magic Mike even though it’s about male strippers and almost nothing in real life appeals to my womanly senses less than men prancing around in g-strings. I blame it on the power of the Channing. McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, and that one guy from True Blood don’t hurt, either. So I guess I understand how these lady extras on the Magic Mike set were swept up in the moment when McConaughey and his magical abs gyrated in their faces or whatever. “Make it rain on McConaughey!” they probably thought to themselves as they scrambled, George Washingtons in hand, toward his oh-so-delicate thong. And then, snap — OOPS! Let McConaughey retell the moment in his own words: “I stayed in sequence,” he says proudly. “I went for the tuck. [Mimes covering his manhood] I went for the roll. [Mimes doing a forward roll] And I finished the dance.” Like a pro. Good advice to keep in mind, fellas. Especially you, Joey Lawrence of Blossom fame, who coincidentally, in other news, might need to start stockpiling such tips. Because, according to TMZ : Joey Lawrence is joining the Chippendales. Whoa, indeed! [ EW , TMZ ]

A Surprising Cannes Title? Madagascar 3 Animates the Croisette

Undoubtedly there will be tons of photographers and screaming fans outside as Ben Stiller, Jessica Chastain, Chris Rock, Martin Short, Jada Pinkett-Smith and David Schwimmer ascend the steps at the Palais des Festivals for the world premiere of their latest film. And it will be the best look at them that the crowd will have all night, particularly since they won’t be onscreen — the movie is Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted . The latest DreamWorks Animation effort may seem like a surprising fit for Cannes, usually perceived as the stomping grounds of the world’s great auteurs, but the festival has long embraced mass Hollywood releases on the cusp of their blockbuster rollouts. In 2005 Cannes hosted Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and even piped over a massive sound system Darth Vader breathing along the Croisette in the hours leading up to the movie’s zany red carpet premiere. And from Shrek to Kung Fu Panda 2 , DWA has wrangled frequent Cannes premieres complete with screaming fans and all the festival trimmings. “This is my first time here in Cannes. To have my voice in Cannes is a good first step to actually being in a movie here,” Ben Stiller, who voices the lion character Alex, said to laughs Friday. Co-director Tom McGrath voiced a bit of trepidation about the likes of Madagascar (which is screening out of competition) with the likes of others in the Official Selection including the latest from David Cronenberg ( Cosmopolis ), Jacques Audiard ( Rust and Bone ), Abbas Kiarostami ( Like Someone in Love ) and Walter Salles ( On the Road ). “We went to opening night and saw our cartoon [in a montage of Cannes films] and we thought, ‘Do we deserve to be here?'” McGrath said. “But the great thing about Cannes is that it’s a festival for all kinds of films – and this is a film about traveling through Europe, so what better place?” The third installment of the Madagascar franchise finds the lion Alex (Stiller), Marty the zebra (Rock) and the rest of the gang trying to find a way to return to their beloved New York City (you may have had to see the first two installments to get that one, but just go with it). Their quest takes them through Europe, landing in Monaco of all places in the famed casino. They find a perfect cover: A traveling circus, which naturally introduces new characters to the mix. “I auditioned for this part, and I was so happy when I got the part,” said Jessica Chastain who plays a seductive jaguar in the feature. “I’m an actor who wants to do all kinds of things.” “It’s a very difficult thing to do,” McGrath said about voicing movie animation. “You have to project that you’re running in your voice when you’re sitting in a studio and you have to change emotion. That’s hard to do when you’re only behind a microphone.” Added Chastain, “I hadn’t done anything before in which I didn’t work with another actor.” Still, the group said the medium allows for the actors to take time and not feel the pressure of time when working with a large crew, allowing them to workshop their characters to a degree, which was one creative appeal for taking part in Madagascar . But there was also another. “Cash!” said Rock. “And it was a lot of fun.” Read more of Movieline’s coverage of Cannes 2012 here .

James Bond Goes Gun Barrel Chic in First Teaser Poster for Skyfall

While the first trailer for James Bond pic Skyfall won’t hit until next week (!), official site 007.com has a treat in the form of a teaser poster for the November release. And while there’s precious little to glean from the black and white composition, there’s something surprisingly compelling in the simplicity of Daniel Craig , front and center, striding towards us from inside the Bond gun barrel . The juxtaposition of what looks like a drainage tunnel with Craig’s dapper, Tom Ford-tailored coolness gives us the sense that he’s unafraid to walk into the world’s dirtiest, grimiest underbelly in his fancy lad haberdashery. What’s more: He’s not shooting at us in the classic Bond gun barrel scenario, which traditionally envisioned the suave spy aiming and firing at the camera; look at his placement and you see he is the bullet. By my count this is the first of the Craig Bond flicks to use the iconic gun barrel motif in its poster designs; some form of it was employed here and there in the Bond films of Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan, though not so much in the artwork of the golden era of Bond (i.e. the Connery-Moore years). That said, this 1980 German re-release poster from the O.G. Bond pic Dr. No utilized what you might consider a variant of the gun barrel motif. (Side note: Is there another gun in Connery’s pocket or is he happy to see us?) Skyfall hits theaters November 9. [via 007.com ]

‘Glee’ Creator Confirms: Everyone Is Coming Back

‘I wanted to do the right thing by all of them,’ Ryan Murphy tells Vulture. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with additional reporting by Christina Garibaldi “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/ FOX Twitter is a blessing that affords celebrities the ability to communicate with fans and update on their projects. But it can also be a curse when it sparks unwanted rumors — as “Glee” star Amber Riley found out the hard way. Gleeks thought the actress wasn’t returning to the show next fall when Riley tweeted , “Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I’ve known day in and day out for three years. I’m going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday!” When the show’s creator Ryan Murphy spoke to Vulture , he dispelled the gossip. “A lot of people have been writing Dianna [Agron] off the show, Amber’s off the show — they’re not off the show,” he said. “I think Amber was talking about that bittersweet feeling of, ‘I’ll never be in the choir room with that exact group of people.’ … She’s excited about where her character is going. They all are. I wanted to do the right thing by all of them.” MTV News caught up with Agron before the news broke that her character was returning. The actress told us that while she’s interested in the future of Quinn, she likes the story line to be a surprise. “It’s so funny, because I do write, and there was part of me that was like, ‘Oh, I know these characters inside and out. What if they gave me a shot to sit in the writer’s room and toy away with that?’ But at the same time, it’s like, ‘I don’t want to have any say in that.’ I love the surprise element of it.” While fans need not worry about the fate of Lea Michele, Cory Monteith or Chris Colfer following reports that the show will track Rachel, Finn and Kurt’s New York adventures , it’s hard not to wonder what’s in store for the glee-club seniors as they graduate on the season finale. With Quinn (Agron) off to Yale and Puck (Mark Salling) headed to California to expand his pool-cleaning business, some characters could get tossed to the side. But Murphy said that he told the actors if they wanted to stay on the show, he had a place for them — including Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester and Jane Lynch’s Coach Sue Sylvester. “They’re all coming back,” he said. “Anyone who is a regular is coming back. Everyone said yes.” But he does clarify that they may not come back for the long haul. “It doesn’t mean everyone will be doing 22 episodes, but everyone wants to stay in our family and our world,'” he revealed. “I wanted to make sure those actors know that if they want to have a home, they have a home. If they want to explore new and different things while also having a home, that is also an option.” “Glee” returns to Fox this fall, moving from Tuesday to Thursday nights, and is set to begin season four with a second Britney Spears tribute episode .

Rohan Marley, Lauryn Hill’s Ex, Engaged to Isabeli Fontana!

Rohan Marley, the son of reggae legend Bob Marley and ex of Lauryn Hill, has gotten engaged to Brazilian Sports Illustrated model Isabeli Fontana. Fontana said the couple plans to wed in Ethiopia, where the Rastafarian movement was founded. According to Contact Music, she told Veja magazine: “Rohan told me we have to return to the roots so the marriage will last forever.” Fontana, 28, has been divorced twice, to model Alvaro Jacomossi and actor/model Henri Castelli. The model has a son from each of those marriages. Marley, 39, dated former Fugees singer Lauryn Hill, 36, from 1996-2011. Hill often referred to him as her husband, though their relationship status was never revealed until they broke up. The couple had five children together. He also has two children from his previous relationship with Geraldine Khawly, who he married during college and was still married to when he met Hill. He made headlines last year when it was reported that Marley left Hill for Fontana while Hill was pregnant with another child , allegedly to another man. “Contrary to the numerous reports, Mr. Marley did not abandon me while pregnant with his child. We have had long periods of separation over the years but our 5 children together remain a joy to both of us,” Hill said, refuting that rumor. Congrats to Rohan and Isabeli!

Should Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Star in 50 Shades of Grey?

Nina Dobrev hasn’t read Fifty Shades of Grey yet, but with her name floating around as a possible fit for the female lead, she might want to get on it! “All I’ve heard is that it’s very scandalous, to say the least,” the Vampire Diaries starlet told MTV. “I haven’t read it, but I’m intrigued … who knows?” “I mean, well, I guess we’ll have to see.” With co-star and real-life boyfriend Ian Somerhalder expressing interest in the role of Christian Grey, it’s no surprise Dobrev has been linked to Anastasia Steele. Working with Ian a second time isn’t as appealing to Nina as you night think, though. She said if she did play Anastasia, she’d prefer another guy . “I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” she said of herself and Somerhalder both starring in the movie adaptation of EL James’ erotic love story trilogy. “I think it’s best for any of the actors on The Vampire Diaries to kind of do their own things … and create new characters … if it’s the same people, the fans will alway see me as Elena and they’ll see him as Damon if we do a film together.” “I think it would be better [if] either he should get it or I should get it, but I know that apparently he’s really great for the role, so I hope he gets it!” Another pair of famous vampires, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson , have been talked about at length as good fits, especially considering that James initially modeled the books after Edward and Bella from the Twilight saga. What do you think? Tell us who should play Christian and Anastasia in 50 Shades of Grey by voting in our dueling surveys below! Who should play Anastasia : Who should play Christian :

REVIEW: Hysteria, a Sort-Of History of the Vibrator, Hums Along Cheerfully Enough

Anyone who’s ever seen or used a rabbit vibrator can attest to the device’s utter adorableness as a totem. Whoever designed this miraculous pink rubbery thing, with its Peter Cottontail-worthy quivering ears, probably thought, Why does a vibrator have to be ugly? Why not make it cute? Tanya Wexler may have had the same idea when she was making Hysteria , a romantic comedy and highly fictionalized history of the vibrator. The picture is, in places, too adorable for words, and when it’s not adorable, it suffers from an excess of neo-suffragette preachiness. But the picture is at least spirited, a jaunty trifle that’s low on eroticism but high on cartoony coquettishness. Like the little motorized whatsit that is its subject, it does have its charms. The picture is set in Victorian London, a time and place where the women’s ailment known as hysteria — caused, allegedly, by an overactive uterus — was treated by some rather, um, direct and interesting methods. (According to the movie, they involve two kinds of oil and a doctor’s fingers.) Hugh Dancy plays Mortimer Granville, a physician who, unlike his whiskery colleagues, keeps up with all the latest developments in modern medicine — he’s hip to the idea of germs while all the other docs are still hung up on leeches. Because of his radical beliefs in these invisible microscopic destroyers, no hospital will have him, and he feels lucky to land a job in the office of one Dr. Robert Dalrymple (Jonathan Pryce), who specializes in de-overactivating the uteruses of his patients. “It’s the plague of our time!” he tells his young colleague. “Half the women in London are afflicted!” Only half? Anyway, many of the afflicted make their way to the good doctor’s office, including an opera singer who’s too sad to sing (Kim Criswell) and a minxlike sexagenarian (Georgie Glen), all clamoring for treatment. In fact, handsome young Dr. Granville attracts so many new patients that he begins suffering desperately from hand cramps. Luckily, his closest friend, a layabout aristocrat played by a marvelously louche Rupert Everett, has invented an electric feather duster that, with a few tweaks, actually serves as a handy hysteria treatment device. The thing catches on like wildfire, and everybody’s happy. Well, not quite. There’s plenty of trouble in Dr. Granville’s paradise, mostly in the love department: He thinks he’s attracted to Dr. Dalrymple’s brainy but meek daughter Emily (Felicity Jones), but his real match is her sister, headstrong Charlotte (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who works with the poor and has some very progressive ideas about the equality of women, which she spouts freely at every turn. The script, by Stephen and Jonah Lisa Dyer, give Charlotte’s ideas free rein, and enough is enough already. Their grinding insistence only weighs the movie down, preventing it from getting on with the business of getting it on. But Wexler — director of two previous features, Ball in the House and Finding North — strives to keep things buoyant, and her efforts mostly pay off. Gyllenhaal’s presence helps — with that bright, expressive, acorn-shaped face, she carries on valiantly, despite the pedantic nature of the material. The movie’s offhand moments are the most fun, as when the two doctors, plus Everett, try the device on their first patient: They put a drape across her legs and don swimming goggles, peering expectantly into the abyss before — huzzah! — achieving victory. Hysteria is most delightful when it slips into its naughtiest groove and just purrs. J. Lo Tops Forbes’ Fame + Money List

The surprise winner of this year’s Forbes Celebrity 100 list was singer-actress- American Idol famous person Jennifer Lopez , who beat out the likes of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga in the magazine’s uber-scientific calculation of the celebrity with the most fiscal earnings and fame. J. Lo even bested Oprah, but then Oprah’s having an off year despite raking in $165 million. Not bad for a former fly girl — and a wily Hollywood strategist , at that — whose second pregnancy-themed movie in a row is coincidentally due in theaters this week. [ Forbes ]
