Lindsay Lohan Ordered To Wear Alcohol-Monitoring Bracelet By Judge

Actress lost bid to ease the restrictions of her probation. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan arrives at court Monday (May 24) Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images On Monday (May 24), a stern Superior Court judge warned troubled actress Lindsay Lohan that she needs to keep on the straight and narrow if she wishes to avoid a return trip to jail . After Lohan missed her initial court date last week after claiming that her passport was stolen while she was attending the Cannes film festival in France, CBS News reported that a “somber and concerned” looking Lohan appeared in a Beverly Hills, California, courtroom and lost a bid to ease the restrictions of her probation. Wearing a dark gray suit, Lohan appeared in court with her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, who told Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel that her client was scheduled to start filming a movie in Texas soon. The judge was not swayed and said the actress may have to delay the project, ordering Lohan to attach a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet to her ankle that will require her to undergo mandatory drug testing every week in the Los Angeles area if she wishes to stat free on bail. Revel also set a probation violation hearing for July 6 to following Lohan’s failure to attend last week’s scheduled hearing. In an interview with Hollywood TV published Monday, Lohan argued that she doesn’t need jail or rehab, saying, “I don’t see what reason I would go to prison for. I’ve been more than compliant with everything having to do with the court system.” Though she has frequently been pictured partying until all hours of the morning, Lohan said she didn’t think she needed to make a return trip to rehab. “I don’t see why I would even have to do that,” she said, “considering I’ve been in compliance with everything that occurs when you’re in the court system for two DUIs.” According to TMZ , (Lohan must begin wearing the SCRAM bracelet — which she wore in 2007 following her plea in the DUI cases — within 24 hours and attend all her scheduled alcohol education classes at least once a week. If Revel determines that Lohan violated her probation by not attending her alcohol education classes as ordered, she could face a jail sentence of up to 180 days. Brittany Murphy And Simon Monjack: A History Of Their Romance

Late actress and screenwriter, who married in 2007, died within five months of each other. By Gil Kaufman Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack Photo: Riccardo Savi/ WireImage On its surface, it was an unusual romance to say the least. The twice-engaged beautiful young actress with the sometimes-spotty filmography and the frumpy British B-movie director/screenwriter with a history of financial struggles who faced deportation just months before their wedding. Now, just over three years after the revelation of their secret April 2007 nuptials, Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack are dead , both having collapsed and passed away in the Hollywood home they shared with Murphy’s mother. Murphy — who died in December at age 32 from a combination of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication &#8212 had a series of high-profile relationships with he likes of Ashton Kutcher and Fred Durst during her once-hot career. She was engaged to Jeff Kwatinetz, the Hollywood heavyweight producer/manager, for around five months in 2004. She then broke it off with him and got engaged in 2005 to a production assistant on her 2004 film, “Little Black Book,” Joe Macaluso. The pair ended their romance in August 2006. The actress once told tabloid magazine OK that she met Monjack when she was 17 and that the two had kept in touch over the years. “The easiest decision I ever made in my life was getting married,” she said. “He’s flown around the world to make sure we spend every single night together.” If the two kept in touch, it was a secret to most people in Hollywood, because even the tabloids were surprised when the pair tied the knot in a quiet Jewish ceremony in April 2007 after never really appearing in public together and not announcing their engagement. The small ceremony was reportedly attended by family members and wasn’t revealed until an Us Weekly reporter spotted the pair wearing wedding rings at the Kentucky Derby in early May 2007. E! Online speculated that the couple had gotten engaged at some point in the previous eight months, because before that, Murphy was still planning her wedding to Macaluso. The marriage was also shocking because Monjack, seven years older than Murphy, was practically unknown in the entertainment business and the press he had gotten was mostly unkind. Monjack was born in Hillingdon, England, on August 5, 1970. He was credited with writing, producing and directing the little-seen 2000 movie “Two Days, Nine Lives,” which starred “Hellboy II” actor Luke Goss as a movie producer who enters rehab after a drug-related crash. He also had a disputed co-writing credit on the Edie Sedgwick bio “Factory Girl.” He became most well-known for a pair of warrants issued in Virginia for alleged credit-card theft fraud that were later dropped, a nearly $500,000 judgment against him in 2006 following a lawsuit by a British investment firm and a nine-day jail stint in February 2007 by customs officials for overstaying his work visa. Even after their wedding, the couple was infrequently seen in public, and when news did emerge, it was typically unflattering, such as when Monjack allegedly showed up drunk and belligerent on the set of Murphy’s final film, 2009’s “The Caller.” Reports at the time said that Murphy was fired from the film after Monjack burst onto the set inebriated and disrupted shooting. A short time later, she was found dead in her home. Rumors swirled again when a distraught Monjack refused to allow the coroner’s office to do an autopsy on the actress.

Did Simon Monjack Die of Drug Overdose?

How did Brittany Murphy’s husband suddenly die just months after the actress herself succumbed to cardiac arrest at her Los Angeles home at age 32? Law enforcement sources say there are signs that an accidental overdose of prescription drugs may have left Simon Monjack dead at home last night. There is no official word yet, but a well-placed source says, “There were a number of pill bottles on the nightstand in the bedroom; some were empty.” This is clearly and eerily similar to the death of Monjack’s wife, Brittany Murphy , in December, after which an array of prescription drugs were found. On the nightstand of the same bedroom where Monjack died, no less. Many of the drugs on Simon Monjack’s nightstand were the same as the ones found after Brittany died, too. But the actress’ death was ruled natural. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack . One law enforcement source says that the two causes of death that seem most plausible right now are both “natural” and “accidental drug overdose.” Monjack suffered a heart attack during a November incident when he had a medical emergency aboard an airplane and paramedics met him at LAX. Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, discovered Monjack’s body. Sharon was also the one who found her daughter, Brittany, unconscious in December. Those close to Monjack never recovered from the death of his wife. Sources say he was often unshaven and had gained considerable weight since. He repeatedly and very publicly decried reports that hinted his widow died of a drug overdose and described living every day without her as painful. The 39-year-old made a fortune trading currency but his wealth brought him little comfort. A source who knew Simon Monjack well told Radar Online: “In past months he didn’t feel well. He never told me exactly why but he was having physical problems as well as being emotionally devastated.

British screenwriter Simon Monjack dead just after 5 months of his wife Brittany Murphy death.

Actress Murphy's Husband Found Dead Brittany Murphy's Husband Simon Monjack Cause Of Death Unknown Monday, May 24, 2010 LOS ANGELES — The husband of Brittany Murphy was found dead at his Los Angeles home late Sunday, five months after the Hollywood actress died, police said. Firefighters responding to an emergency call found British screenwriter Simon Monjack dead at the Hollywood Hills residence, police spokesman Sgt. Louie Lozano said. The preliminary cause of the 39-year-old Monjack's death is natural causes, he told The Associated Press. “We concluded there no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved,” said Sgt. Alex Ortiz, another police spokesman. Ortiz said that the Los Angeles Coroner's Office was taking over the investigation because criminal activity had been ruled out, and would provide more details later on the death and circumstances surrounding it. Firefighters rushed to the home after receiving a call from a female occupant at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, but Ortiz said he didn't know who then name of the caller. At his wife's funeral in December, a visibly emotional Monjack talked about their relationship and called her his best friend and soul mate. The two married in 2007. He had said that they had been planning a family and contemplating a move to New York. Murphy, best known for her major roles in “Clueless,” ''Girl Interrupted,” and “8 Mile” in 2002, died Dec. 20, at age 32 after collapsing in her home. The Los Angeles County coroner's office concluded Murphy's death was accidental, but likely preventable. The coroner's report said that the medications found in her system were consistent with treatment of a cold or respiratory infection. Monjack and Murphy's mother had reported the actress was ill with flulike symptoms in the days before her death. An autopsy found no evidence that Murphy abused drugs. Investigators found numerous prescription medications in the actress' home. Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Jane Lynch’s ‘Dragon Lady’ Muse

Jane Lynch’s character on Glee . Sue Sylvester, may seem like gorgon dreamed from the actress’s imagination, but Lynch says she based her performance on a professor she had at Illinois State University. “We called her ‘The Dragon Lady,’ and she was an acting teacher. When she walked down the hall, kids would part like the red sea. She wore layers, and she flowed, and she was big, had a loud voice. It was rumored she was a lesbian — in the cornfields of Illinois, God bless her.” She also spilled that Glee ‘s season finale would feature Jonathan Groff performing “Bohemian Rhapsody” and celebrity reappearances.
