In a recent report, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that the birth rate of twins in the United States has become a trend. The twin birth rates are now 33.9 sets per 1,000 births and although sets of twins have been on the rise since 1980, the birth rates of triplets and other sets have decreased by 40 percent since their rise in the mid-1990s. CDC researchers believe the increase in twin rates have been caused by fertility treatments such as in-vitro fertilization. Since older women use fertility treatments like the aforementioned, it has been noted that the age group to birth twins have been those in their late-thirties to their early forties.
