Senate expected to pass medical marijuana resolution, but advocate Diane Riportella, of Egg Harbor Township, will stay home

By SARAH WATSON Staff Writer pressofAtlanticCity.com Diane Riportella did not take pain medication Friday, hoping she could make it through the day. By evening, however, the pain from not being able to move was unbearable, the anxiety and fear inconsolable. Rather than have her husband Paul give her a few drops of cherry-flavored liquid morphine, the Egg Harbor Township resident instead asked that he light her pipe with medical grade marijuana. Almost instantly, she said, the pain dissipated, her anxiety gone and she felt the will to live come back. Today, if everything occurs as expected, Diane Riportella will hear that the state Senate passed a resolution that could be the last hurdle in legalizing medical marijuana in New Jersey. Unfortunately, Diane, who is in the final stages of Lou Gehrig’s Disease, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also called ALS, won’t be in Trenton to watch the vote in person. http://www.jackherer.com/archives/senate-expected-to-pass-medical-marijuana-reso… added by: JackHerer

Wikileaks Threatens America’s Imperial Ambitions – Release of Docs Cuts Them Down to Size

Vladimir Putin says that America is one to lecture others about “Democracy”. In a report from RT news this report about the response from Putin over American criticism of his country. In another report, one leaked document has led to a firestorm as Moscow now demands an explanation for revelations that a planned covert action was planned by the US towards Russia. Could it be that these documents are going to cut short America's Imperial Ambitions as the public in other countries begin to see that America is about corporate corruption and money and greed and projection of power, America will loose a major part of their credibility and ability to project that power…even though they have such massive military spending in comparison to the other state actors in the world. The pressure exerted by America seeking to remain the world's sole hegemonic power is that it forces all the allies to consider teaming up to form another alliance. The whole secrecy of international policy or foreign policy in the US is what propels the corruption of corporate power and for a long time it has served as a way for the US to brand “America” like a product and sell the “idea” to the people of the world that it is the “shinning city on the hill that will bring justice to mankind….etc”, but people weigh this in their minds against what they actually see what America does and now the revelations of corporate influence in the wars in Africa, its amazing that people can't see that Wikileaks serves a higher purpose, regardless of what you think about the media image of Julian Assange. This information that gets released can serve as a great equalizer and ensure that no one country has the power to dominate the entire world, for such to allow such a power to exist threatens the entire human race. We know for a fact that most of these government “professional managers” are there to fill their own pockets and that corruption is at the highest levels and trickles down all the way to its underbelly. Most average people who get their information from Mainstream Media Outlets don't get the real story but the censored story that makes America always look like the hero of the story, regardless of the scandal that surrounds individuals that get caught doing the dirty work. http://rt.com/politics/putin-cow-wikileaks/ The wiki revelations are taking over the job the fourth estate was always intended to do, uncover the corruption and blow the whistle. But once the fourth estate became all about profit, then the master it served changed, from the people to the stockholders. I would be interested to hear about what you think about these ideas… added by: jubal

Curren$y Calls Himself ‘A Living Mission Statement’

MC plans to drop three albums this year, including the just-released Pilot Talk 2. By Hillary Crosley Curren$y Photo: MTV News Forget releasing multiple mixtapes in one year; what about multiple albums? New Orleans MC Curren$y has done just that, releasing his follow-up to July’s Pilot Talk, appropriately titled Pilot Talk 2, on November 22. “I have no shortage of raps, and there’s no shortage of wack music in the world, so there has to be an alternative,” Curren$y told MTV News. “There’s people who are not so excited about what’s going on with music. A lot of the times, it sounds like the same song’s on the radio all day, even though it’s not. Everything sounds like everything.” The MC, who released his first Pilot Talk LP through Damon Dash’s revitalized Roc-A-Fella label and Island Def Jam, is no stranger to the taxes of an artist’s life. But Curren$y, born Shante Franklin, decided to take his career into his own hands, shying away from radio-friendly songs in favor of smoke-filled grooves like the ’70s-inspired song “Famous” on his newest project. “The fact that everybody gives me so much flak for not conforming lets me know that there’s a need for this,” Curren$y said. “It’s a break from the norm, like, ‘Well, I’m gonna keep on doing this. I should give them two before it’s done.’ Everybody’s like, ‘Ah, if he would just do a song for the radio.’ “I’m trying to show that there’s a way to survive without playing that game, without conforming,” he continued. “So the fact that I could put three albums out not conforming shows people like, ‘Dude, if you think you’re right, you’re probably right.’ Just stick to your guns and eventually it’ll all line up … I am just a living mission statement; I have to do it.” The MC says that he’s planning to release one more album this year, Muscle Car Chronicles, and Pilot Talk 3 will hit shelves possibly in April. Curren$y, along with Smoke DZA, Nipsey Hu$$le and Dom Kennedy, hit the road Thursday for the Smoker’s Club Tour West in Seattle. What do you think about Curren$y’s nonstop album releases? Alicia Keys Talks Sacrificing Her Digital Life On World AIDS Day

Singer tells MTV News celebrity ‘Buy Life’ campaign is a ‘shocker’ but will engage everyone in cause of HIV/AIDS awareness. By Jayson Rodriguez Alicia Keys Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Alicia Keys walked into the CNN newsroom on Wednesday (December 1) and saw the staff swirling around working and thought the sight would make for a cool picture to send to her Twitter followers. The thing is, she’d killed off her digital life the night before. So no TwitPic, but Keys isn’t sweating it as she’s leading a campaign called Buy Life to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS and the many lives lost in Africa and India. The idea is for people to donate money to “buy back” hers and other celebrities’ digital lives by texting donations to benefit her Keep a Child Alive organization. And the slogan is simple: You buy a digital life to save a real one. “You can really feel the energy of it, it’s there,” Keys told MTV News of the campaign, which has set a goal of raising $1 million before celebrity participants like Usher, Kim Kardashian and Swizz Beatz return to Twitter and Facebook. “I love that. That’s what’s so important about it, we’re engaging everyone,” Keys continued. “Not only are these incredible artists deciding to sacrifice their digital life until we collectively raise $1 million for the cause, but we’re asking everyone who participates in our Twitter and Facebook and who we communicate with to be a part of it as well. I think a lot of people feel like there are things going on in the world and want to do something but [think], ‘What am I supposed to do?’ So it feels like people have an outlet and a way to participate. By texting, by buying Usher’s life back, I think they get a bit of a shocker, but I think people will love it. And they’ll pay attention and know what do to.” The initiative by Keys’ Keep a Child Alive was launched on Wednesday to coincide with World Aids Day. In addition to the “Un-Thinkable” singer, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Seacrest and others have also given up their digital lives. Jay Sean told MTV News that while the approach may shock, sometimes ideas like this are needed to get a message across. “I think we all sometimes turn a blind eye to things that might be depressing, too heavy,” the U.K. singer said. “But sometimes you need to be really shook up and poked and prodded to do something, because the way I believe is that every human needs another human being to get some life. … We need each other, and I feel like we should all help each other.” Will you help bring your favorite celeb back to life?
