Real Housewives Countess’s Music Video: The ‘Thriller’ of Airbrushing

What ode to class and elegance is complete without a music video featuring an unrecognizably airbrushed reality star and a horde of men spread out at her feet? Not Countess LuAnn de Lesseps new clip for her dubious single “Money Can’t Buy You Class.” That’s for sure. In it, she’s been digitally transformed into an expressionless hybrid of Eva Longoria and, like, old Brenda Starr cartoons. Judging by the level of visual marvel here, this must be the work of John Landis. Hype Williams, I mean? One of those. In the meantime, watch the video and keep chivalry alive after the jump.

Gleebasing: Lady Gaga Meets Pseudo-Vampires

Let’s hear it for Ryan Murphy, who did the impossible in last night’s installment of Glee . He filmed the single best scene of Mike O’M alley’s career, produced a Grammy-worthy remix of an already Grammy-worthy song (“Bad Romance”) and convinced Cory Monteith to wear a rubber dress. Just give him his Emmy already. After the jump, Movieline assesses the highs and lows from last night’s episode and awards bonus points for the best Lady Gaga tribute costumes.

Friday Box Office: Unhappily Ever After

What a difference three years — and one really bad sequel — makes. When Shrek the Third opened over this weekend in 2007, it grossed $38 million on Friday; Shrek Forever After , however, could only score $20 million yesterday, this despite the added benefit of higher ticket prices and 3D. Yikes. No reason to start a collection for Dreamworks Animation, but Shrek Forever After will likely wind up around $50 million short of its predecesor come Sunday. Elsewhere, weep for Will Forte. MacGruber grossed an embarrassing $1.5 million on Friday and will be lucky to close out the weekend with more than $5 million. Insert bomb related pun here. The top-five after the jump.

Has Uganda’s Anti-Gay Bill Influenced Others in Africa?

This week has brought more troubling news from Africa about anti-gay efforts: A Malawi gay couple is now facing 14 years in prison for holding a symbolic wedding ceremony. I recently returned from Uganda, where a bill was introduced that would make homosexuality a crime punishable by life in prison or, in some cases, death. While reporting on this story, I spoke with many of the politicians and religious leaders responsible for the anti-gay campaign in the country. And most, if not all of them told me how they believed that Uganda would set an example for other nations. “We think that God may be using this country of Uganda to provide leadership in the area of moral issues where the world needs it most,” said Ugandan Member of Parliament David Bahati, who authored the bill. Bahati and other backers of the legislation told me how they have already received several calls from politicians all across Africa who have been inspired by Uganda’s proposed anti-gay legislation. Homosexuality is already illegal in 38 African countries—just as it already is in Uganda—but that hasn’t stopped backers of the bill from trying to make it even more so, and the penalties even harsher. Vanguard's “Missionaries of Hate” premieres on Current TV Wednesday, May 26 at 10/9c. Watch a trailer for the episode after the jump. added by: MarianaVanZeller
