There’s no defending Tracy Morgan’s recent homophobic rant , in which he referred to gays who commit suicide as “pussies” and said he’d stab his son if he were to come out of the closet. Tina Fey, who works with Morgan on 30 Rock and has known him for years, isn’t trying to. She said the “violent imagery” of the diatribe was “disturbing” to her and Morgan clearly “went too far.” But the actress also stood up for her co-star in general, telling TMZ yesterday that Morgan isn’t a bad person. Morgan’s hate-filled speech “doesn’t line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person,” said Fey . She added, referring to Morgan’s follow-up statement : “I hope for his sake that Tracy’s apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian coworkers at 30 Rock , without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket.” Do you accept the actor’s words of contrition?
There is no LeAnn Rimes sex tape. End of discussion. “I hear there are rumors of a ‘sex tape,'” the newly-married country singer Tweeted after reports surfaced of a tape featuring her getting her freak on. “I have never filmed myself having sex on tape, period. Haven’t joined that club LOL!” she said, putting that rumor to rest once and for all (probably). The reports added fuel to what has been quite a month for the singer, who has also fended off attacks from weight critics over her thinner, leaner frame. It’s not cclear if the rumored LeAnn Rimes sex tape co-starred Dean Sheremet, Rimes’ first husband, or Eddie Cibrian, with whom she cheated on Dean. Not that it matters. The tape does not exist, people.
30 Rock star Alec Baldwin has long mused about running for political office, but some of his recent Tweets have stoked more speculation than ever. Earlier this week, Baldwin wrote that it’s still “a long way till November of 2013” and then posted a link to the iconic song “New York, New York.” Interestingly, Baldwin just wrote an essay for The Huffington Post that was sympathetic to the plight of embattled U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner. Weiner represents Brooklyn and Queens in the U.S. House, but has openly coveted the NYC mayoral post and was all but certain to run in 2013. His rampant crotch-shot texting likely slammed the door on that lifelong political aspiration – but did it open one for Alec Baldwin in the process? It certainly could happen. The actor owns an apartment on Central Park West, though his primary residence is in the Hamptons on Long Island. He has flirted with running for Congress from his Suffolk County district, but this is the first time his name has been tied to the mayor’s office.
