You might think Sally Hawkins got nominated for an Oscar after winning the Golden Globe for Mike Leigh’s Happy-Go-Lucky in 2009, but you would be wrong. Despite a winning lead performance and the backing of both critics and the Hollywood Foreign Press, Hawkins was a bridesmaid in the Best Actress race that winter. Of course, being snubbed once by Oscar doesn’t mean Hawkins is ready to pack it up; she’s back on the awards circuit this fall for her performance as a striking (and striking) autoworker in Made in Dagenham .

Actress Kate Winsle t has said she keeps her Oscar in the bathroom after winning the gong last year. Winslet, 34, picked up the Best Actress award at the ceremony last year for her role in The Reader. She said that she keeps it there so guests ‘can sneakily have a little [hold] and put it back down again’. Talking about putting it there, she said: “Because basically everybody wants to touch it, everybody wants to hold it and go ‘Oh, my gosh,’ and ‘How heavy is it?’ “So I figured if I put it [in there], then people can avoid the whole ‘Where’s your Oscar?’ thing.”

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl recently lamented the 17-hour day she spent on the set of her hit show on the first day back from its summer hiatus. In fact, the Emmy winner kept bringing this up, only half-jokingly, during her press tour to promote her new movie, The Ugly Truth . It was a little weird.
